Due to the happening lags/bugs/downtimes of the server i thought about the idea of maybe switching to a later Version of maplestory that is more stable then v62. v83 for example is kinda like a better v62 version. Its pre-BB, so its still nostalgic, and there are lots of new things that some might enjoy. Some things available in v83 would be: -Malaysia -Neo City -Magatia -Knights of Cygnus (KoC) -Aran -Medals and Belts (also Mu Lung Dojo) well thats just a suggestion from me and it would be nice to see how ppl react to this. I dont want this thread to be used for flames and blames. I also dont know what matt thinks about that, just want to share my thinkings and wanna know what ppl and matt think about it
Okay this is what I think about changing version. I am not flaming or anything, this it just what I think based on my own opinion and based on feedback I have received from players. The negative effects it will have on players and the server... All accounts will most likely need to be wiped an everyone will need to start again. We would lose a LOT of players... Over half the current active players are from gtop100 and not from demethos.eu anymore. Why have so many players chosen our server over other v62 severs? Because... We are v62 Nostalgic. In my opinion I don't think v83 is nostaligic with pink bean, timeless weapons, hammers and soks and areas like ToT, Neo City, Mushroom castle, aran, KoC's etc... There are already loads of VERY good v83 servers and players want something different. These players don't want 1/1/1 rates and we are 10/5/5 which is not so soul-destroying to play We have working merchants which is quite rare for v62 We have people that actually attempt to fix bugs, compared to most other v62 servers. We have a great forum and friendly community compared to others I have seen. I do not think we could compete with the v83 servers. Yes the v83 sources are very stable and have next to no bugs but what will make us stand out from the crowd? Whatever it would be... would take some time to code and implement. All the work put into this server would be lost. You may not think that much work has been put into it yet but some things like: Getting the merchants to work, getting GMS-Like job advancements, Making the custom NPC's, Making 4th job give you the correct skills and mastery levels, all the work put into gachapon would need to be changed, all the work put into adding monster drops to monsters that did not have any/correct drops would be wasted. There is a lot more content in v83 that would need looking after, and more content means more possible bugs and exploits. v83 is so popular at the moment that I'm sure that there are many people that know some really bad exploits of the current stable sources. I really do not think moving to v83 will fix any of the crash or monsters not dropping items glitches. I am almost certain this is an issue with the windows server configuration, java configuration or heap dump configuration. I have offered to pay money to anyone who knows the solution to this. Hopefully we can figure this out soon. The things I do like about v83 are quite limited... to be honest my mindset seems so set on not changing versions that I cannot think of anything I like about it. If anything I would prefer to downgrade versions, not upgrade. About the current bugs... Apart from the glitch regarding mob attacks, no monster drops & no spawn there are actually currently no other critical bugs. Some major bugs include monster quest drops (which is actually pretty easy to fix), PQ's not working (again, kind of easy to fix), and a couple of important skills do not work properly. Then you have the moderate and low priority bugs which are either not fixable or are again kind of easy to fix, but these are not on the top of my agenda right now. So really, we don't have too many bugs... and most of them are fixable To some up... these are the main reasons why I do not think we should change version... Our community is growing at an incredible rate, this can obviously only mean good things, and our server is almost the rank 1 v62 server on gtop. Why would we want to lose that? Surely we must be doing something right? Changing versions now seems like server suicide. Yes the content is a little limited BUT there is something called WZ editing... This means eventually once we get everything sorted out... this is something which looks very interesting indeed. It allows you to create your own ANYTHING basically. Yeah, of course it will take some time but it means we could have some hairs from newer versions or make custom hairs... Or make a new monster, a new boss, or a new map... even a new whole town... and even a new job class if I wanted... you may think that this would take away some of the nostalgia - maybe slightly - but I think the main part of nostalgia here is the lack of items, classes and areas. These all also contribute to making PQ's worthwhile. Don't really know what else to say. I've probably missed a few things. If I think of any I will reply again.
I personally love v83. It's that version that's close enough from the old maplestory where training is still almost hell, but it's far enough from the big bang update to make it not feel like the old Maplestory. All those features mentioned above are amazing. Personally, I wouldn't mind a change. That's probably because I'm a level 60 bandit and have only played here for two days. But we've gotta keep in mind all the progress that's already been made. The only true competition I could see is from MapleDestiny, and many of there players are anxious for a new, low rate v83. In short, I support a change to v83. However, I can see how reasonable it is to NOT change.

Why would we change from 62 to 83? first off like Matt said we are growing fast. V 83 update also comes with chaos scrolls droping which RUINS the game. Who wants to grind for hours at cubes or captains for chaos scrolls in the first place? Also Hammers are aviable,White scrolls are gached more. These 3 things would ruin the nostalgic of maplestory. Grinding and not trying to find shit to upgrade your equipment. If anything I suggest v 55. No BF or HH. In my personal opinion that helps players and gives them a edge in leveling in the higher levels. I never been a fan of it either.
I love the old Maplestory as much as the next guy, but come on. Those features aren't so bad. What's wrong with more chaos scrolls? It's not like that would completely ruin anything. If anything it'll add to the already growing economy, just as more white scrolls would. And unlike in GMS, Nexon Cash is easily attainable on MapleRoyals. So the argument that Hammers would ruin game play is very weak considering they're available to all players. To be honest, who truly loves grinding their eyes out? I'd much rather party with friends and kill a Headless Horseman or a Bigfoot. Updates are meant to improve game play. That doesn't mean they always do. tl;dr WHY DID I EVEN RESPOND TO THIS I'M SO BORED.
I don't see how chaos scrolls dropping ruins the game. Even, if the server was to upgrade to v.83, things can be modified. Chaos drop rate can be easily modified, hammers & such can be disabled in the cash shop, and as for the white scrolls being easy to gach, that can be edited as well. Personally, I'm like Sam, I love & prefer v.83 over all other versions because there is an option for everyone. There are the big bosses, for those that who prefer to boss over grinding, but there is also the option for those that love to grind, or would rather spend time hunting scrolls (chaos included), and items to make equips, or just become stronger. And there are more options for both categories in a v.83. Everyone has their own preference. But, hey what do I know. Oh, Sam. Lol.
