Howdy y'all, So, in GMS I always used to play betting omok. Looking through the forums, I found that there was some interest in that here. It's been a long-time hope of mine that betting on minigames might one day be integrated into the game, as opposed to relying on the honour system (in GMS, I rarely expected to be paid). Of course, in GMS I knew there was a snowball's chance in hell of that ever coming to pass. Here, however, it's another story! I feel that this would give minigames a long-deserved relevance in the Maple world, and would simply be a nice twist to add some spice to the social side of things. Also, it is clear that some people are interested in this idea and have already been doing it on their own. The way I imagine this system being integrated is basically the same way as a trade. You can put up mesos and/or items, and the game starts when both players agree on the stakes. This would prevent scamming and allow people to be fully confident that they would receive their earnings. Casual gamers be at peace; betting would in no way be obligatory! One thing to keep in mind if this does come to pass (hallelujah!) is that D/Cing is always an annoying possibility. You should avoid making enormous wagers unless you are playing someone you trust (someone that would give your wager back in the event of a D/C). Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. If any GM sees this: please consider making it happen! Thanks, Jazz
I guess this could be a community driven content hosted by trusted users, middlemanning these wagers, if people would put effort that is. Otherwise if you mean creating a system which allows users to put in mesos id say no to the suggestion, the reason is simple. System part 1.It could possibly lead to dupe & obviously dupe abusing. (Seen alot of dupes happen in runescape, wouldnt be suprised if one or a few dupes would appear with this system) 2. System not functioning properly making it somehow keep the mesos & not able to pay the winner. = More work for GMs 3. The devs needs to put in time & effort into this project, which could be used for other more useful things. (more text on 2nd) 2. If the system somehow fails to reward the player making it store the mesos for itself, it would obviously just cause more work for GMs to handle refunds. And as you can see the GMs are pretty busy right now, making the list longer in character issues would just more waiting time for us players to get their refund. Just a few reasons I got in my mind. However, if this idea would be hosted by player here is what I think on how to host it. Community part 1. The two betters give their wager to the middleman & proceed to play a game of omok. Once a player wins, they either screenshot their win incase both tells the middleman that they won OR they can confirm their win through inviting the middleman to an omok game. (Seeing the win counter getting from ex. 64 to 65) Once a player confirm the win, he trades the MM and get both of the wagers money. Usually through this way, 2. The so what I called it, "Runescape" way. Lets say theres a list of trusted players & they host their own omok game. The better gives his wager to the host, proceeds to play and if he wins, he gets the 2x money back. Fast & simple. However the negative parts with this is, the host can just flee away with the money without getting punished other than getting put up on the blacklist. Since scam reports arent bannable, people can just make a new char, get himself "trusted" and eventually host a big enough wager which he can just run away if he loses. Other notes : This was a big problem in runescape, even though it was bannable, they didnt care since they made huge profit & traded it over to their main. Video example of my friend getting scammed Headphones users be aware of 0:43) : (My sweet voice in the background ) tl;dr. Just some thoughts about it & yay to betting hosted by the community, nay to making a system for gambling. I probaly have some grammar error here & there, but feel free to reply if you dont understand what I meant with something.
Sounds like a pretty cool idea but I don't know if you'd be able to implement it without some sort of abuse scenarios popping up. Either way, I'd love to have the ability to bet 322 mesos against my opponent.
