The title kinda says it all, but what I'm thinking is, making a few tips around the T & C. It should be one rules that is most used such as speaking in an acceptable manner. Hopefully this could prevent more people from breaking the most broken rules? I would love to hear other peoples meaning on this subject.
In the ban appeal there seem to be some people who might not have an as wide common sense as others. People seem to be unaware around the sharing account rule too.
Common sense varies from person to person and is completely subjective aside from the plain obvious ones like hacking and duping. The same could be said about anything, downloading programs, buying merchandises, does anyone ever read those little copyright policies that come with products? Part of the problem with the T&C is people not reading it until after being banned, so this suggestion isn't too bad.
That part of the problem doesn't exactly have anything to do with us, though. We shouldn't have to ram the rules down your throats. I do digress; people plead ignorance a lot, so I'd support this suggestion for the fact that regardless of if it should be necessary or not, apparently it is.
This would be pretty helpful for new players. Pretty sure most people don't read T&C, even though they should.
I 100% agree that it's not your responsibility to make us read the ToS but that doesn't mean you can't help us. The rules are suppose to be there to protect players, not punish them.
There is a RoyalTip that reminds players to familiarise themselves with the T&C. There's also some MapleTips: Users abusing the Terms of Service will be blocked from the game. Please refrain from using foul language in this game. Verbal and other forms of abuse will NOT be tolerated. Abusers will be blocked from the game. Using, selling, trading, or promoting hacking or hacking tools will result in being blocked from the game. What sort of other tips are you suggesting there should be?
First of the using selling or trading hacks one is one that should be easiest to understand for all, since that is around 98% of all cases. And it seems like what Michael mentioned seems true from what i have read. We as user indeed need maple to get up in our faces before we choose to read it. It could be possible to even make a start quizz about it around first npcs. Now i think account sharing seems to be a problem people dont quite understand though. "Sharing account in any form to family, friends or other players is banable for up to 30-days to perm ban" Written from phone sorry for any mistakes made.
I would probably lobby for account share and vote abuse being added, as those two rules are ones that not every server uses, and both come with fairly heavy punishments. Does anyone else have any other suggestions of what should be added?
Wz editing do come under hacking I suppose this is another rule other servers may not have, or have in other forms? I'm uncertain about trading RW valuta for items should be added or not.
I won't delve into any specific rules but it should be made clear to all players (especially newer ones) that we do take the ToC very seriously, as such something like a pop up when you first login to the game that tell players to take a look at the ToC may be something to consider. I also think many players often overlook the in-game messages that get displayed or take it as "it's there because we have to put something there" kind of thing so they either don't take it seriously or brush it aside.
I guess it would just be another fast "accept" or "okay" button to press especially for people who have a hard time with the english language. Or as i mentioned earlier a quizz quest maybe? About T&C.
The blacklist RoyalTip would be cool for scams. Also some like: "Dont put anything in your Wish list" or bug related would be fine, until we got the sacred source that fixes those things
I actually think this is a really good idea and strongly support it, as many new players wrongly assume that our rules are the same as GMS and just go straight into playing the game without realising otherwise. Like most T&C, ours isn't an easy read, although the tl;dr certainly helps. If we're going for frequently misunderstood rules, then: 1) Account sharing is strictly forbidden 2) Before voting, please read the voting rules carefully 3) Deliberate KS-ing is a bannable offence 4) If a party member is botting, hacking or glitch-abusing, leave the party immediately 5) If banned, you may not play on ANY account until your ban expires 6) Excessive spamming in the FM is not necessary here - don't do it! 7) Racist or homophobic terms are not acceptable in Smegas or all chat These all probably need some rewording!
+1 for the account share, vote abuse, and (maybe) mapowner command. Just recently, someone I knew got banned because they didn't realize exactly how the mapowner command worked. Of course, it was completely their responsibility, but they also have a hard time understanding/reading so it wasn't out of malice, but ignorance. The only reason I say maybe though is because many people do it out of spite as well, knowing full well that they can get banned, so it would be kind of pointless. Just to add a little, I believe you should also make note that overly sexual/inappropriate jokes will also be bannable because several people have been smega'ing inappropriate things lately and have done so under the belief that because MapleRoyals is a nostalgic server and therefore has an average age of people who are in their 20's. Maybe a reminder that MapleRoyals is still 13+ so smega's that would be inappropriate for a 13 year old will be bannable? Of course, this will require some nice wording, but I feel like people are forgetting.
Guess what? I just realised we already have a RoyalTip saying that Account sharing or trading is strictly forbidden! It's one of those yellow words on a transparent background notices that appears in the text box occasionally. So much for that, eh? When I first joined MapleRoyals back in June 2013, one of the first things I noticed was some bold (red?) text on the voting page telling me that account sharing was not allowed. My reaction to this was O_O - I wasn't really expecting that on a small private server, but it certainly grabbed my attention. There were actually very few written rules back then.
[Hopefully this is relevant enough to the topic] But it'd still be nice if something about the Community Blacklist was added to help with the scamming ^^
