The most popular private server?

The title says it all. According to GTop100, MapleRoyals is now the most popular Maplestory Private Server (at the time of this at the least)

I mean that's really nifty and all, but how/why? What is so good about this server that everyone seems to love?

But my issue with this sever is that people are so spellbound by the nostalgia, that they're effectively blind to not only the problems of Maplestory back then, but also private server problems in general.

I opted to create a mage because I wanted to make a Bishop to get things started but when I made the job advancement, I got a slight boost in HP, but MP? Nope. It made training next to impossible, and it "especially" didn't help that I wasn't getting the usual potions that came with the quest rewards.

Ugh...it was so painfully slow... I still have nightmares about it

 

All MapleStory versions have problems some won't like, but I would definitely argue that later versions have much bigger problems than we have, I wouldn't complain if we got some new content but much more than that is probably not a good idea.
Seeing that there is a large population of mages on the server most people wouldn't say that training is next to impossible, it does take time and effort though.

Getting mesos for pots is extremely easy, you could simply sell an AP reset with your free NX everyday.
I don't know what you mean with not getting the usual potions, if a quest is giving the wrong reward feel free to make a bug report.

 

Royals was around at the right time. There were very few servers so royals grew. At this point, no server can survive due to royals being so huge. The mentality for most people on other servers is, "If this server dies I can always just go to royals". It's unfortunate that other servers can't really survive with their players having that mentality.

So basically:
1. Around at the right time
2. Other servers can't compete

 

Seems like I have no choice. I will give this server one more try. Here's to hoping everything will go in my favor...

Also, this era was about exploring and having fun with your mates, not about how fast you can solo pink bean with 2m-2m range.

I still remember the time when i had enough money to go orbis and got stuck at orbis because i couldnt go back for my 2nd job advancement.

 

Definitely echoing on the non pay to win aspect.

Besides, this is BBB, but it's not /way/ old around the time when I stopped playing the original Maple Story. Before NLC & Singapore, where you'd be shooting down Nependeaths at 10% exp/hour. When people would be getting ks'd out of Omega Sector because it was actually a good training spot. When people would be glitching Orbis PQ for that sweet 25% exp/hour.

I just started here yesterday for fun but, there is a system whereby you get in-game rewards for voting on the particular website you mentioned.

I'm not saying that's a bad thing - I love that they engage people and let them vote for something they're passionate about. And, in the limited time I've spent on this, it's made me feel like a kid again. There's no where on the internet where I could pay a million dollars to have that experience.

 

Nostalgia is one of the main reasons i joined but other than that friendly community but still has a few common bugs that need to get fixed. : /

 

I'm having issues on the friendly portion, I can't seem to figure out how not to be an asshole. But someday I might learn so I too can dabble in this thing called "friendship".

 

You should play a game called UnderTale. Maybe it i'l thought you how to be friendly?

Before you consider staying on this server, you really should listen to other people's opinions who have been here over a year. I've been here since 2013, until retarded staff members of royals started taking action, some people left, some people got banned for no good reason and unbanning seems hard because Staff members seems to not care about it at all and decides to close the thread before you even reply, once you create a new thread, they say the same dumb shit again where you could find a simple answer every single time. Well it doesn't matter anymore, i'm still playing here after my perma ban

Ohh and btw, Dray86 is back on MK 9 ! I'm currently helping him out with his projects

If you consider banning this forum account for the 10th time again for being truthful AGAIN, i would literally piss myself off xD

MapleLegends would PWN this server if it was a little more populated, since old members of 2005 and old guild members joined it, like '' SuperVillain'' And '' VenGeanCe '' and '' MyBFF '' <<< Tiger was in it .

But most people leave because it's a 1x server and hard to level, so people join MapleRoyals where you could literally level yourself 50-70 in a day if you know how to deal yourself in the game ( WITHOUT LEECHING ) .

 

I can assure you, this server isn't nostalgic as you think it is. There are many things than should be changed, but the Staff did some changes so the game experience should be more fun= more people = More money .

 

Not true in some aspects. When I first played this server, the nostalgic aspect was definitely there as it felt good hitting snails with my sword. You are right in the fact that after you get to higher levels, the nostalgic factors fade mostly because it has become a new experience for all of us. I never got a character to 4th job in GMS, so I can't has a nostalgic feeling on this server for something I've never done in GMS back in the day. Nostalgia is also your own experience and each of us has a different snapshot of the "old maple story", so before you tell other what nostalgia is to them, let them experience it for themselves and let them be their own judge.

Staff don't get paid. You can't say that they changed the experience for more revenue because that is just naive.

Overall, I think this is a pretty fair server in general. I understand where you come from, where staff may have become more stingy with the growing population base and banning. With more and more player on this server, staff doesn't have all the time in the world to babysit every mistake we make. I do get why you think staff may have changed in terms of banning and leniency over time, but with tons of players unlike few years ago, they can only put so much effort for each player. Keep in mind I've also had some really good friends who got banned in this server, so I understand. Sometimes is good to just move on

So many words with no good replies.. Let me tell you something, i've been playing maplestory since 2005, you probably haven't. If you want nostalgia, go see me in dray86's videos. Also yes you may be right about about Nostalgia being your own experience and each of us has a different snapshot of the old maplestory that we all knew. Okay, you might be right, but that wasn't the point was it? If you think about community back in the days where we all used to ride a ship and make friends. Also the View of hitting a snail isn't even the same. Go and try kill 10 snails in MapleLegends, and then come back to talk about graphics and such..
