Hi! I've been trying to download this game for quite a bit now and I think I'm pretty much stuck.
I downloaded the MapleStory setup first without even bothering to download the Windows Client download out of sheer laziness and (I guess obviously) didn't work after the whole installation process and such.
So then I tried downloading the Windows Client, but it was blocked by Google Chrome and my antivirus software. I just assumed that I should turn off my firewall and stuff, remembering how private servers were kind of difficult to install and the solution was always to "turn off your firewall", so then I did. However, my antivirus software said it had detected "TR/Patched.Ren.Gen" and wouldn't download the .exe.

I had and I guess still have no idea what it is, and got pretty scared so I went on the forums to see if anyone had listed the same exact problem. I didn't really see anything but just simply that Google Chrome and other browsers would block the downoad for the Windows Client, but I didn't see anyone specifically mentioning "TR/Patched.Ren.Gen" (then again, I only read about 3 of the most recent pages regarding installation issues).

So that's why I'm making this post! Is it supposed to come with it, and am I just overreacting? Or is it not and is something wrong LOL
I'm just kind of scared because when I Google it, all I see is that it's some nasty Trojan. I don't really have any tech skill so I really have no idea with what I should do.

Sorry for the long post and possibly worrying for no real reason. So thanks in advance if anyone reads this! I hope to be able to play soon. :)

Normally, your antivirus software should give you the option to continue the download anyway. I can assure you the client in no way contains malicious content. I think it detects the client as virus because it traces your IP or something (not sure, someone who knows has to confirm/dispose this hypothesis).

If you don't have the option to continue the download, turn off your antivirus software, download the client and add the MapleRoyals folder to the Exceptions of your antivirus software, and start it again. If you're not sure how to do this... Tell me what antivirus software you are using, maybe I can help. c:

If you use the search button on the forum and search for virus it will turn up lots of helpful results.

Regarding the unblocking in Chrome, it's actually quite easy. It doesn't give you the option to keep the file on normal website pages, (where you see the download at the bottom of the screen), but if you go to the actual page which lists all your downloads in chrome then you should be able to unblock and keep the file without having to download it all again.
