the Marauder/Buccaneer skills Transformation/Super Transformation are essential to the gameplay of these classes, and have constant uptime (i.e., 120s duration with 60s cooldown). this means that, when attacking, the default character sprite is always covered by the sprite associated with these skills. this is not only a disappointing experience for those who enjoy designing (and spend RP on) the look of their characters, but can easily lead to confusion when playing with other Buccaneers. changing the look of Transformation/Super Transformation has been suggested before (i.e., https://royals.ms/forum/threads/super-transformation.188079/), but the thread was moved to "Closed" for some reason (my guess is that it was deemed too difficult to implement). i'd like to reopen the discussion and offer some further suggestions about how this change could be feasibly implemented. (in doing so, i'll refer to comments in this earlier thread.) first, i agree that the ideal replacement for the character sprite associated with Transformation (or Super Transformation) would be a blue (or orange) aura (e.g., a recolored version of the "Shining Effect" character effect). re-animating skills is by far the more difficult problem, but not insurmountable. i made this rough edit, which could be a possible animation for Demolition (without requiring that the character be in Super Transformation, as it currently looks): the two other skills (Shockwave and Snatch) may be harder, i think. here are some ideas: 1. Shockwave: use the Dragon Strike character animation, but keep the orb (blue or orange, depending on whether in Transformation or Super Transformation) and actual shockwave, 2. Snatch: use the character animation from a pole arm swing (where the pole arm goes in front of the character's head), but keep the swoosh and the grapple (orange). thoughts? (i would try to make example animations for these, but my skills are rather limited.) thanks!
i always thought of using mounts while transformed as a class balancing issue, not a visual issue. you can sit in a chair while in Transformation/Super Transformation, and the character uses the sitting animation while on a mount but, please, let's stay on topic. these are separate Feedback issues
Might be considerable work for staff but if it's possible I would looove to have this. I hate being an orange blob Besides just aesthetics (which are important! ) another argument for doing this is to make it easier to keep track of your character when there's multiple other buccs. Especially in VL runs for example.
I was playing with character frames and effects, and managed to make a Snatch animation without transformation. (The frame speed is a bit messed up, but I think it's good enough for demonstration purposes) I'd say snatch is pretty doable since the transformed character frames basically have similar frames as the existing swing/stab/alert frames. (Swing T1 Frame0, Swing T1 Frame1, Swing T2 Frame2, and Alert Frame0 to be specific) However, moving onto Shockwave, I found out that the orb effects are part of the transformation character frames, meaning the method I used to make the snatch animation wouldn't work. I think Shockwave likely has to use the same method @Crags did with Demolition, making it look like the character instantly transforms and casts Shockwave then turns back. Edit: Shockwave transformation frames match Stab 0F Frame0, Swing PF Frame2, Swing PF Frame3, and Alerts. If someone can photoshop and separate the orb effects frames from the transformation character frames, then it's still possible to make Shockwave similar to the Snatch gif shown above.
this is beautiful, exactly what i had in mind -- thank you! (what did you use to make this btw?) i think either of the suggestions for Shockwave seem nice as well. maybe there's some other existing effect that could replace the orb if separating it from the character sprite is too difficult? will think about it
I got the character images from maples.im and got the transformation effects images from a friend. Then used Illustrator app to combine them into individual frames, and used gif website to configure them into a gif. I don't think people will be happy to replace the orb with some other effect, usually ideas involving drastic change like that get denied quickly. Personally, I prefer separating the orb out with Photoshop or something, but I don't have the skill to do that.
Every time this is requested I do hope staff will take this into consideration. Not being able to see RP most of the time sucks It's not much but equiping a ring with an effect, like baba blue for example, will atleast give some form of indication for now.
