This thread is for users to submit any suggestions for improving the Troubleshooting Guide located here: http://royals.ms/forum/threads/troubleshooting-guide.20556/
Could you finally update http://royals.ms/forum/threads/read-first-error-code-guide.425/ with http://royals.ms/forum/threads/could-this-sticky-be-updated-and-sorted.20026/ Or let me know if it needs some changes before it could be?
The common errors are in the troubleshooting guide, so I don't see a requirement for that thread any longer.
Sorry for the double post, "Is your problem a disconnecting or crashing issue?" and below There isn't any information saying that disconnection when double clicking a character is normal if that character has wishlist items.
Also, maybe add " *READ FIRST* " to the title so that people are encouraged to click there. Otherwise it kind of fades into the background.
Does your client close after selecting a character? I think a lil bit of clarification might be useful, if someone were in fm and try to log in with outdated files, they might assume the client closed on character selection and not the brief second after entering the game, and assume they are banned. I could have easily done that misstake, so just saying. Maybe add a question asking " Is this happening on all your characters" after the "Does your client close after selecting a character?"
I think the large, blatant notice that appears when one tried to create a thread in the relevant subforums is encouragement enough.
Keep the suggestions coming and I will make amendments in the near future, won't be doing it right now because I am sick of the sight of SPOILER tags right now. (97 different spoilers so far)
Not even with Big Red Letters in the shoutbox saying "the server is down" works, still makes threads and questions about why it's not working. I forgot i think it was font 40 still didn't help.
Might be good to add in the problems with using hamachi, some may think they are banned when they can't get past the character selection.
you said that i should use the "character fixes" button in the website encase the game says i'm logged in, but the "character fixes" is disabled
Also if you already have it installed and it's not wanting to open up, you can go to Wineskin and click on Advanced and then "Test Run". It should open it up It worked for me!!
In all my years, I've only seen really 2 different kinds of trouble shooting guides. 1. What we have, a spoiler system where you go step by step and at the end find and answer. It can look a bit messy but as long as you can read it, it is helpful. 2. Similar to the rules and ToS thread. The most productive and most common troubleshooting guide that I have seen on multi billion dollar company websites is a bookmark type thread. You click on your issue and it drags you down the page and give you all the options about that problem. Example, run code errors, click on that, boom, may redirect you to Silas page, or something else. I think the only negative of the spoiler thread right now is if you click on a wrong step, it is difficult to find other possible solutions without having to redo what you did. Hope my suggestions helped
