I've been reading through the forums because I can't go on royals- and I've noticed quite a lot of hate recently based on some events-e.g ksing/excessive smegaing/etc. I'd like to offer a suggestion, if you will. Perhaps, when the GMs have some time to spare, a character can be punished for the more minor/shallow/silly/brainless offences by being jailed for /edit instead of 1-3 hrs, a whole day, instead of a WHAMBAM 3 day ban. By Jail I mean warped to a map -with a scary feel preferably xD- which you can't tele/door/townscroll/relogout of. I feel that some offences are in essence, subsumed by stupidity and as such, should warrant a less heavy punishment initially. (because you don't cane a kid when he bullies his sister/keeps whining loudly without warning him first ) In the event that people actually like this suggestion ,take your time srsly because I know there are 2manybugs2fix and when you fix one 15 pops up T.T We, as a community (or at least those that I know personally) are very grateful for the hardwork and effort you guys put in to make royals a better place! KEEP IT UP GAIZ. -hands out tequilas, mojitos and chocolate donuts to all GMs-
It dose not sound as serious. "oh no i got jailed.... guess ill go play xbox for 3 hours." Yeah the same for bans, but its the idea of knowing I can't play the game for an extended period of time that makes it annoying, 3 hours is more a mild inconvenience. Good idea just don't think it would have much pull.
Maybe then the jailed time could be extended then? Perhaps a whole day? It's 1/3 a ban time- less harsh, but the same results; you can't do anything- no training, no zak, etc etc Except maybe bitch about your jail to your BL which is essentially the same as banned people bitching on skype to his BL
It's 3 days. Three. Days. The Minecraft server I play on starts at a week for first offense after a warning. It should be common sense that spamming isn't going to be allowed, as it's not allowed on any server I have ever played on no matter what the game is. Seriously though. It's three days. Go outside. Read a book. Watch TV. Go for a walk. Play another game. Hangout with your in-person friends. Spend some time with your family. Play with your pet if you have one. Work on a hobby. If people don't have enough common sense to know what things are generally never ok on servers, then 3 days ban is perfectly reasonable to let them know it's not cool.
Any sensible person that plays this server will read the rules before starting the game, or at least when in a situation where said person is unsure of whether or not something is allowed. Everyone playing this server has been warned, as the rules are there to read on the forum. Furthermore, a 3-day ban IS a less heavy punishment. There are also 7-day bans, and permanent bans. Perhaps implement a 1-day, then 3-day, then 7-day, then permanent - rather than what it is now (3/7/permanent), but bans that last hours is just silly.
You misread my intentions, friend. I know and thoroughly comprehend that three days isn't that long for a ban. Also, the abovementioned alternatives are actually far more healthier then staring into maple all day- so you should be at least indulging in some of these activities instead of mapling 24/7. (although I am mad addicted and trying to quit atm xD) However, I quote: " first offense after a warning." For all the instances I've noticed- there doesn't seem to be a warning of any sorts before said person gets banned, and as such- I am proposing this jail as a warning. Yes, one is expected to have read the rules and regulations before playing (it's a given), but what if- in the spur of the moment, someone breaks the rule? Out of anger, annoyance, or irateness? In any case: Am I suggesting that the 3 day ban be replaced by a jail term? No. Am I implying that the foolish people who commited offenses meriting a punishment deserve a lighter sentence? No. Am I suggesting that those inane people get a temporary jail term as a warning first before the punishment? Yes. (for all you know, the person could be deterred enough by a simple warp into a no-man zone) Also, there is a difference between a ban and a jail term- as I feel that a ban is a more concretized blackmark, a slur of sorts on your name/reputation/etc. In any case- this is just a suggestion, and if it needs to be shot down, I shall humbly concur. :>
I'll be honest, I see no point in jail. The reason? Picture this scenario: Player does something wrong and is warped into jail. Great, they're angry they can't play for a few hours, a day, whatever. To pass the time, they just sign onto another character and keep playing. There's no real punishment except that the rule breaker's character is on a time out so he has to play with another one. Additionally, if we put a character into jail for a day, what's the benefit of having them in jail vs banning them for a day? There isn't really a difference (at least that I can see).
