I've been here about a month and often read comments about how the server just isn't what it used to be. Whether that's true or not, I cannot attest to. However, there's always room for improvement. So what, in your opinions, are aspects of MapleRoyals that the GM team could/should improve upon or change in order to entice new players to try the server and make an effort to keep current players? Try to be as articulate and specific as you can. Hopefully this sparks some legitimate conversation for positive change.
I think the website could use a makeover . The new control panel was an amazing addition, but I think more can be presented to catch the eyes of new and returning members. In addition to the library: - The ranking page hasn't worked for years. - The main page has a PB that isn't in the game. Quite misleading . - Before, there were Royals streamers presented on the front page which looked great but not allowed anymore. Now it is back to featuring the almost 2 year old Neo Tokyo video. I think a video for newer content (LHC?) would be nice for returning veterans to see what is new at a first glance. - We could add a little section on the front that explains what the server has to offer - with a little more detail than the GTOP description.
Just wanna clarify about the streamers part, it isn't due to Royals Staff not allowing streamers, it's because of the company that goes around banning various YouTube and Twitch streamers Quite a few of players was affected, personally I also won't recommend streaming Royals for now due to the constant banning by the company
I just got back playing after maybe a year or so... I got corona and came back, but noticed simply by looking at FM ch1 that there are less players.. but there was still new content waiting for me, like LHC that I never played (quit GMS way before that, and got to know Royals like 2.5 years ago. But here I am, still playing and managing to enjoy and feed my nostalgy crave. If I'm trying to be creative - maybe more frequent events that should bring back players to be more active? I remember telling myself I should download Royals around May for the anniversary event (is it really May lige GMS?).. but had too much work irl Anyway - keeping the game in the OG limits but do adding content here and there is great in my opinion. that what keeps it alive.
In my personal opinion, compared to other servers such as (censored). Which has created a wide traction of players not only from mapleroyalers that moved and other servers to play. (censored) is basically a easier MapleRoyals. They have all the bosses and require no HP wash. If we look into the mapleroyals meta. All the most popular classes such as NL & BM require Hp washing to some degree to able to do most bosses without dieing quite easily. If the server implemented some type of Hp gain quests like collecting cards to gain HP it would be in the right direction. Also the game has recently just added LHC which I do feel is a positive. But one of the main attractions to the game is the end game boss that everyone wants to be part off. (AKA Pink Bean) We have PB Chairs and pink bean pictures in the home page, but we dont have the boss in game. If we go back to any nostalgic person that has ever played this game they mostly remember that fury pink ball pink bean the most not HornTail. I also do believe for new players to join the game you have to entice them with something. I dont have any ideas what that something is, but it would be quite amazing for the home page to have a video of every job doing some type of boss skills against mobs or bosses. So new players can be like wow I want to be that job or that animation looks cool. Thats all I have to say thank you for reading on my opinion.
Good points. Let's say I wasn't coming back, but I got an email from Royals announcing they added Pink Bean and inviting us all to be back playing, I wouldn't hesitate. It could have been an amazing email to get out of nowhere.
Not to start a communist revolution, but Royals really needs some more systems in place to redistribute player wealth. The established and wealthy players have everything, and wealth is constantly filtering upwards. The only thing new players have is their voting NX, and the value of that has decreased a lot over time. The wealthy sell leach, kill endgame bosses, make valuable equips, and efficiently farm monster drops. The new players have almost nothing to go on. The decrease in active player base has also led to a bit of a market glut for most goods. Many of the players today have been around for ages, they have just about everything they need, but they still generate more goods (scrolls and equips and stuff) by playing. Prices are dropping dramatically because everyone has things no one needs. The price drops on commonly acquired items that would help to fund new players (like glove attack scrolls, overall stat scrolls, good mid-level weapons, and so on) further harm new players. The amount of mesos changing hands each day is very large, but its mostly being done in enormous transactions for ultra-high-end equips. Things that are accessible to new players see little demand and have little value. I don't really have any good ideas for a solution, but if there were more systems in place where new players could acquire things that established players want (without just mindlessly grinding for literally 1000 hours), it would really help to rebalance things and make the new player experience less daunting.
well, i think guidance for new players. alot of players jump in and have no knowledge of how things work and what the custom features are. there are some NPC's which try to help and explain, but what if they missed them? however, if these new players have come from pre-bb era, i'd guess its not a big deal for them because they would know the basics already. about keeping veterans, i'd say, maybe add more things to do. i find myself easily bored by the repetitive grinding, especially as a Bishop. but overall i dont see too many problems or things to improve. if you change too much or improve too much, you could ruin the nostalgia itself!
