Hey! What class do you think is the most enjoyable to play and why? Based on lvling, bossing and grinding with, independent of damage. I'm about to create a new character and i dont wanna be dependent on damage and HP washing, i just want to enjoy the game. Give me your thoughts
The following is a personal opinion and does not necessarily reflect those of the entire Mapleroyals community: For endgame purposes, if you're looking for "enjoyable to play," you might want to stray from classes that, at endgame (which mostly consists of bossing), hold one button to attack. A couple of prime examples are Night Lords and Hero. With these classes, you just set the pet HP/MP, hold the TT/Brandish button, and it's gg. Secondly, Arch Mages and Bishops aren't exactly fun to boss with either. For starters, finding a boss party as an Arch Mage is (I assume, considering I rarely see any in boss parties) nearly impossible, considering their ultimates are made for mobs. No real sense in using Meteor, an attack that hits 15 enemies, on a single target. The DPS is just abysmal, which is a huge turn-off in bossing parties. Bishops, while coveted for Holy Symbol and Dispel, I doubt are fun as well (again, this is an opinion, but I would be shocked if they found it fun being barked at all day). Having said that, if you want a character to sell leech at some point, any of the 3 mage classes are fine (though you might want to start with a Priest, as people will not buy a leech without some sort of HS mule). With all of that said, these are probably ideal choices for endgame classes that are, as you said, "enjoyable to play" (in no particular order): Dark Knight: Good damage, nice party skill in Hyper Body. DKs have a unique playstyle because their damage increases as their HP decreases. While this sorta goes against the whole, "using one skill to win" bit, I imagine it's more fun because you play with a "living on the edge" playstyle, considering the fact that DPS is optimized when HP is lower. So instead of just holding spacebar, you actually need to pay attention and keep yourself alive, without healing yourself TOO much and losing the damage buffs. Corsair: One of the highest (if not THE highest) DPS classes in the game (although a few of the skills are currently bugged). Battleship provides a unique way to play, although it can take lots of time and practice to perfect. Since DPS is highest when attacking on the ship, you'll obviously want to spend most of your time on the battleship. However, the battleship breaks when it takes a certain amount of damage. So, the simple way to play is just to stay on the ship, attack until it breaks, then reboard when cooldown is done. The harder, albeit more fun and challenging way to play, is to exit and re-enter the battleship to minimize (if not eliminate) the damage it takes, thus allowing you to attack more per battleship. Marksman: Sharp Eyes is so coveted that many people won't even boss without it. Secondly, MM has two main attacking skills in Strafe and Snipe. The latter is excellent because it damages through the numerous "cancel weapon attack" buffs thrown out there by Zakum, Krexel, and others. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- For leveling purposes, i.e. levels 1-135 (135 being the level you get EXP from bosses), the "fun" classes are a bit different than those that are fun to boss with. For starters, ask yourself if you enjoy ranged attacking or melee attacking, since you'll be using said attacking method for your character's lifespan. In my eyes, I enjoy the range. Being able to kill things from afar is always nice, while also minimizing damage taken. In addition, bowmen and mages can "jump shot," if you will, which is a nifty technique to play around with, in which you initiate an attack and jump at the same time. Melee classes can be fun too, although they do make me feel a bit sluggish having to walk up to everything. So, my personal opinion for classes that are fun to level up (in no particular order): Night Lord: Haste and Flash Jump are extremely fun mobility skills. In addition, you don't have to game the system to do a jump shot since you can just throw in the air. The only real downside to such a fun class is that you only have Lucky Seven as your main attacking skill. Avenger is a bit underwhelming in terms of damage, and only goes in a straight line, which can be tough on select maps. But IMO, the fun movement makes up for only having 1-2 attacking skills. I/L or F/P Mage: Any mage gets Teleport, which is great for mobility. Whether you would prefer I/L or F/P is personal preference though. I find I/L a bit more fun because Lightning Bolt is a great mob skill in 2nd job, whereas F/P is solely single target attacks until 3rd job. However, 3rd job F/P gets Poison Mist, which leads to once of the most unique leveling styles in the game, in which you cycle around a map using Poison Mist, draining monsters down to 1HP, then come back and kill them with Explosion (or even a wand whack since they only have 1HP). Of course, I'm not totally sure how viable this leveling style is as far as Royals is concerned. Either way, it's hard to go wrong with either Mage class in jobs 1-3. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hope this helps! These are just personal opinions of course.
1st job pirate and nl Mages are lame. Warriors are slow. Bm.. I hate it that they can't att unless they are on the ground.
Wow, thanks man! I'm starting out as a Dark Knight, since that seems to fit my playstyle . Is it still recommended to HP wash a Dark Knight? I'm not funded at all so would it be okay to just skip the wash? Never played as a corsair before so I'll definitely check them out aswell! Thank you for such an "in-depths review"
Buccaneer. Has a mix of the other classes' skills (albeit a bit weaker in a way like barrel is a weaker dark sight, dash is a weaker haste, energy charge has power stance and guard but weaker etc). It's like the best of all worlds. Wanna melee? Easy. Wanna range? You can too. Wanna buff? Spam away. Need another res? We got you. Wanna also look like a straight up @&$!?#% bad ass?!! You know which class to pick then
I highly doubt it. I don't think you'll necessarily reach 30k HP without washing, but I mean, with Hyper Body, you'll have zero problem surviving. MAYBE people make a case for it if it helps with the whole "keeping your HP low" thing, I can't say for sure. https://www.royals.ms/forum/threads/dark-knight-guide.28010/#18 This guide makes it seem like it's necessary to hit 30k HP (with Hyper Body), but I don't get the sense that it's exactly necessary for a DK. Seems like more of a pride thing. Also the guide as a whole should be really helpful for you (in case you haven't seen it yet).
As a DK, I feel that it is necessary to have 30k HP, with 30k hp as long you have below 15k hp berserk can be proc'd. If you have lower hp than 30k, then you are more prone to danger and its harder to maintain berserk while bossing/grinding
