What keeps you on mapleroyal ? (Some thoughts and questions shared)

Its just that , im 2o soon , and of course the old maplestory brings up so much memories and such . and i had a blast playing mapleroyals for like a month , but after giving a shot to the reboot server recently ( even there , i played for like a week and then stopped because , well , just cause) , its hard to come back playing mapleroyals for a couple of reasons .
First , the graphics are way better , the game looks cleaner and way smoother. Second , i dont have the time i had when i was a kid , hell , when i was 17 , im serving my country in the army right now , coming on weekends , sometimes even not , and i dont have the time to level up the way i used to , and with how much i hate the easy leveling bullsht that the maplestory has right now (the reboot didnt make it that easy tbh ) i just dont have the time to level up , even with a 4x bonus (hell , the old maplestory was way to difficult)
Anyways , my point is , im pretty sure most of you guys are adults right now , and by adults i mean atleast 19 , wheres the motivation to keep playing comes from ? because i remember how much i enjoyed playing back then and im really looking for it right now , but whenever i start , i just cant feel it , the joy of grinding , rolling with some friends for hours like we used to .

PS. theres an estimated date for the open beta to take over the game ?

The memories, I miss all my old friends I made. I got on with them better than anybody. The old layout is good pre BB. I'm a sucker for the music too. Loving MapleRoyals just not had time to play lately since I'm busy with work. It made up the majority of my young teenage life, just one of those things I can't escape.

I have lots of free time, I have no desire to pursue secondary education at the moment, so I just work full time. Even working full time I have lots of spare time and I can still have more than enough money to live. What keeps me on the game is my passion for it, I have been playing since 2006 and I don't think I will ever stop.

 

Well for one mapleroyals is always pretty simple to come back to. Item prices don't chance much, voting keeps you making some money without having to do much, and there aren't any new items being released so you don't have to change your gear. So the pressure of having to commit a certain number of hours isn't really there. Personally I mostly just merch, hang out, and instead of grinding I take it slow with quests. Although quests don't do much for you in terms of exp and rewards, it allows you to enjoy the entire game and they are pretty interesting in my opinion. It's always a lot more fun than being in same 20 maps lvl 1-200.

 

-The old world of maplestory was true art.
-As much as I disagree with the decisions made over the years, server manages to hold a solid player base.
-Server doesn't change very fast.
- There are no v84 servers currently running, otherwise id make like an Evan and flame wheel outta here.
-Despite the soft and sensitive community, it is fun to see how people change as they level up
-I wanna see if the new source will make or break the server.

 

I'm at the same position as you are. I also serve in my country's army and I come home every 2 weeks. But when im not home I just vote, when I return home I have like 80k nx to gach with so im making mesos for leechings when I go out with friends, so leveling isnt a problem for me.
My purpose on playing MapleRoyals is to reach level 13X+ and start bossing, instead of leveling quickly to 200 and quit or something.
I also like the fact that most of the people here, especially my guild members, are friendly and its fun to pass some time with them.

 

I love the MapleRoyals community, and for that I keep returning. There are few toxic/bad eggs out there; but let's be honest, any games that require you to interact with people online will always have those toxic group of players that will go out of their way to make other people miserable. Generally, the toxic players/trolls are in the minority of any community, so I try not to judge the community through the actions of the few. Overall, in my opinion, I think the community of MapleRoyals is great. The fact that Royals openly welcome players all around the world just makes it better. I have never interacted with people from Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Brazil, Mexico, Norway, etc. until Royals. I personally believe that Royals' multi-cultural player base gives Royals it's own unique identity and strength that can't be found in GlobalMS, or any official servers for that matter. It has given me a broader perspective in life as I interacted with people in various countries that I probably would have never even given a thought if it wasn't for this server. (I didn't even know Singapore's main language was English until I befriended with couple Singaporeans in Royals.)

The efforts of the Admins and GM's to maintain the server to what it has become today is also a part why I continue to return. It may sound like I am kissing ass, but I can assure and promise you that I do not have any relationships with any Admins in MapleRoyals. I have seen what MapleRoyals was initially when I first joined and to see it grow into a thriving community today after all these years still continues to amaze me. I have played multitudes of private servers (not Maplestory related), and most servers are lucky to survive a year. The fact that Royals has continued to grow, and still continues to grow after all these years is a testament to the dedication of the Staff on maintaining and growing the server. If the Royals was in worse state than it was when I first played, I probably would never have returned. (Trust me, if you're complaining about the D/C's today, the frequency of D/C's and game breaking bugs were way more prevalent back then.)

I am also extremely fortunate that, I have made some great relationships over the years I played MapleRoyals. There are times after you're done with your day (whether its work or school), but you don't want to spend the time and money going out to socialize; you just want to go home. I feel like Royals gives me that avenue where I can socialize and have fun with others in the comfort of my own home after a long day. Game-play wise, Maplestory has ceased to entertain me a long time ago. However, the connections and friendships I have made with various people around the world through Royals is what makes me come back from time to time.

The two guilds that I've stuck around with the longest has been my anchor in Royals that keeps me coming back over and over again (shout-out the Synergy and Radio). The fond memories that I made through my guild in my GlobalMS days (Unoriginal) brought me to MapleRoyals 3 years ago to relive the good ol' days. Through Royals, I joined Synergy; who's leaders and members reminded me how much I enjoyed playing Maplestory with others. Although, the glory days of Synergy has long passed, Synergy will always have a special place in my memory. Through my membership in Synergy, it has given me the opportunity to join my current guild, Radio. My time in Radio has been phenomenal, and because of my interactions with them in-game and outside of Royals, it urges me me to login to Royals from time to time again.

I have been very fortunate that my time in Royals have been blessed with my experience with Synergy and Radio. Those guilds have defined my experience in MapleRoyals and hopefully will continue to do so though Radio. So as long as Radio exists, I will probably keep coming back from time to time to check on the server periodically. I sincerely hope that everyone in MapleRoyals finds that one guild where they can form bonds and camaraderie with their guild mates that will define their experience in MapleRoyals as it has continued to defined mine.

I agree with many points made above. For me, grinding is always a nice stress reliever after work.

 

Until recently, I really didn't have much purpose logging in, because it was just the same old thing with grind and hoping for lucky gach or something. Of course right now, it is better because I was able to meet some good friends. Chatting away makes it fun, and being in the company of my friends actually motivate me to play the game. I mean sure, sometimes I don't have the time to play or grind but at least my buddies are online and we can just chat about all sorts of things.

That, and also I guess having a functional staff/admin team to try and take care of issues in the server helps too. I remember back when I played on the official server in 2005-06 and then 2009-11, Nexon simply don't care about its player base, so just having people that actually you know, read your issues and responds is a big plus.

 

Due to the high experience gain, I actually wanted to cry some other classes.

No pay to win on MR.

CS items are reasonably priced.

Mature community.

Reasonable Prices of Items (for classes I want to play anyway).

 

Events with 1 all stat rings, gotta get that tma
Other than that i usually come on to say hi to guildies/bl

I already spent dozens of hours spamming slash blast, might as well go all the way to 120 so I can spend even more hours spamming brandish.

 

I'm addicted to the wait for new sauce. I hope the wait never ends.
