My wife is playing Spearman and I'm torn between playing Crossbowman/Cleric together. I was thinking that I could heal and buff her with Priest or mob with her with Sniper in the future. Which one should I go for? Also which one would be best for bossing/PQ/party leveling? Thanks in advance!
It really depends on how much time you expect you'll be playing together as opposed to playing independently. If she's already playing spearman, I think buccaneer will pair well in the long term because speed infusion boosts the attack speed of all warriors. and you won't need to worry about hp washing because 1) buccaneer doesn't really need it and 2) she can HB you anyway. bucc with HB can do anything, but unwashed archer with HB still won't have enough for a lot of bosses. priest is a good support class in general but I do not think you will be satisfied if you play a mage as your only character. there is a lot of endgame content that can be soloed by every class except mage and that feels pretty bad man. but it's a good idea to have a priest anyway and if you're going to play a priest you might as well start with it. also dragon roar + heal is potentially funny, you can look forward to that
I went to research on washing after reading your reply, I guess starting with a Priest would be the best if we're looking forward to bossing? My Crossbowman is already at level 55 with all stats into DEX. We're both at the starting stage of the game, unfunded. With a little research around Priests, I heard they are quite good at making mesos which is quite key in washing as well? Since INT gears would greatly help the washing process and leeching is required. I'm a support player in most games so I wouldn't mind it. My only concern is will it slow down our mobbing/exp rate if it's just the two of us. When you mentioned end game content, you mean end game bosses and mages couldn't solo them? If so, I wouldn't mind not being able to solo since we'll mostly be playing together anyways. Unless you're talking about end game mobbing. And yes, it's one of our old time dream to perform a dragon roar spam in maple one of the coolest thing back then
My experience of my bro playing BS and me playing BM: When I started to play Mapleroyals my real life bro joined shortly after and we played together for years every other day. I made an Archer back then cause he did not like me jumping around as a Gunslinger because that was hard to catch in order to heal on his Cleric. As we progressed through the game we did not always play together but quite frequently, did almost every quest that was out there, ground together for hours and did tons of PQs, until we were able to play stuff such as Zak/HT (me having just a little over 7.5k HP back then and it took lots of skill and coordination to do these runs) together with great people and friends. I got my current Zak helmet from a run in my way over lv100s as an attacker actually, we joined a run of friends and it was quite a thrill. I got screenshots of me wearing regular bowman hats way to my lv100s and it looks really hilarious. We scrolled all of our items ourselves and gave each other all the items that were suitable for each other. I profitted alot from the immense video game luck my bro happens to have in every game he ever touches and we got some nice gear for each other by working together. The combination of support and multi role character paid off quite heavily and the game was just so much fun for many years. We actually duo'd 2 Pianus (double spawn) in our early lvl100s, dying a shit ton of times and as I was unwashed every potential mine hit was a death sentence while my bro dced like every 10 mins due to him not doing enough GFX's back then. Runs like these took more than 2 hours but it was a blaze, while friends were just laughing at us and said that we are crazy, which is probably true. I was completely unwashed until around lv70, however I read about HP washing in my 50s as you did and started to scroll INT equip and also wear it at lvl up. It was quite some adventure over all and it was definitely much more fun that way compared to my newer chars that are thought out but boring. We were accompagnied by my girlfriend for a short time, and she played as a Warrior (Crusader), which was amazing fun, since she just kept falling down ropes, knocking mobs which an old big wrench (that some guy dropped to her in Perion back then and it was such a cute gift), despite all of us being in huge lvl differences (like 70 lvls sometimes). All of us were mono clienting back then of course and it was all unoptimized, for instance my girlfriend was mostly shouting at the enemies with that roar skill and we thought it was amazing since it also stunned. After all, these times were the most fun all together, that I had in Mapleroyals, since it was just pure play without optimizaiton, pure Nostalgia and child's play. 5 years later, I am now lv200 on my BM (recently) at 17.3k HP (including all gear), got all quests done that are possible to do as well as almost all special items such as collector medals and pet owner medals and all that stuff, and pretty good damage output overall I would say (however still lots of room upwards of course). May girlfriend and my bro left the server years ago now because the server culture changed and they do not feel like they have a place in this server anymore. It was a really bumpy road but also a hell of an adventure and I would play it that way again if I was given the chance to decide again. However back then the server culture was way different and nowadays you cannot simply join boss runs to get your zak helmet and you cannot simply join 12 man or even 24 people CWK runs to get your MON and cannot simply join high-profile guilds just because you got a buff and they are short of that at that time. My bro actually left for that reason, since people became toxic towards him as a BS main getting xp and items from runs, and mages were nerved specifically in this server, as for most people, a BS is now just a mandatory mule that everyone has. It is still possible to play the way we did back then for sure, but you might have some frustrations along the way and thinking about optimizing your characters early on is more of a necessity now compared to years ago, when it was just unnecessary. Hope my story helps you to decide what makes sense to you. Hope you guys find a path that feels satisfying to you and hope you will enjoy your time here - after all there is lots of really cool people here to meet and good times to be had (at least for me every time I log in and meet amazing people ). Happy Mapling PS: just as an advice since it may come across
You're talking about the Berserk skill? Thanks for the suggestion on going for Buccaneer as with Baconfry did, but Priest and Crossbowman are the only classes where I'm interested in right now. Wow thanks for your personal story and taking the time to type it down. Salute for enjoying the game as it is and figuring out as you go! Definitely inspired me to go towards the class my heart is leaning towards I just might. Just found about the unlimited HP quest
just so you know, I also started with crossbow and it's my current main. most people would add base INT so they can wash, but that obviously ruins your damage and sucks the fun out of the game so I simply recommend buying some INT equips and wearing them right before you level up. your wife probably also wants to use INT equips to maximize the HP potential of her spearman, so an INT equipment set is a good investment for both of you. I recommend starting with an INT scrolled green bandana, yellow adventurer cape, and wooden wand/broomstick, and maple shield/single earring/red marker if budget allows. bathrobe is also a good source of INT but can't be shared between characters with different genders.
Aghhh! I get so frustrated by the fact that some genders can't wear some equips. Particularly bathrobes, some of the most common equip to share.
Will do, thank you for the advice! Now we have to decide to go for Zakum helms first or INT gears first as we don't have much.
on a low budget, zakum helmets will probably provide more INT for your meso than any green bandana within the same price range. I think you should buy zhelm, but don't bother scrolling them for INT, just use helm dex 60s. they drop profusely from pythons in thailand if you want to farm them yourself.
