I would love to see this be implemented, or a variant. I don't know if any dev work would be needed, in particular preventing an NPC from using an equip that was locked as an ingredient in crafting or preventing a scroll from being used on the item. A nut can only dream though... https://royals.ms/forum/threads/item-guard.175492/
Id personally want an item lock that still allows me to trade, but prevents dropping or selling. I constantly trade my wand / mage eqs between my mages, so I couldn't use a normal item lock, but I'm paranoid I'll npc some of it one day as I regularly skele/ulu farm and npc equips.
This is a great point actually. I haven’t thought about this until now, but, most of us have multiple characters. How would we implement an item lock where we can still x-fer it to our other characters? In GMS I believe item locks were 7, 30, 90 days and prevented the item from being traded, dropped, etc. Would we want a lock that only prevents dropping, allows you to lock/unlock it as we please, cost additional nx/mesos each time we want to “re-lock” it, etc.
Maybe there is something with item lock but before drop/sell/trade npc need put 4 digits code, then also could xfer to other chars.
A lock that prevents dropping/ NPCing would be equivalent to how chaos/white scrolls are handled, and so perhaps easy to implement?
This is now the case for chaos/white scrolls, and a few of the "valuable" armour (not weapons though). Was added awhile back
I do dream of a day where I am not mentally slowing down time around me when shifting around my equips to make sure I don’t make a goober mistake. Having item locks would be a beautiful thing.
There are very different ideas of an Item Lock / Item Guard. Some people want to prevent themselves from accidentally losing an item by dropping or npcing it. Some other people want their item to be saved from being stolen when being hacked. Here are the three alternatives we recently discussed. Locked items turn untradeable (cant be sold/traded/dropped/used for crafting) forever This will absolutely make sure you will never loose the item, not by accident not by being hacked. However this will come with other problems. Players will accidentally lock wrong items and ask for an unlock. Hackers might grief players by locking their item. Both comes with extra admin work so we dont think its the best way to implement this system. Locked items turn untradeable (cant be sold/traded/dropped/used for crafting) for 30 days This will make sure your item is safe for the time being but some people might not notice their item lock expired and then acidentally loose it. This would again to lead to requests for the items to be restored. While those would likely be denied due to player error it is not ideal either. Locked items turn untradeable (cant be sold/traded/dropped/used for crafting) until unlocked via item/npc This is currently our favorite way of implementation. It does not really save you from loosing your item when being hacked but having strong account security is in players hands. It will be a reliable way to prevent accidential item loss by own mistake. We will try to look into this at some point in the future. So please remain patient until our devs can get to it. Thanks for bringing it up again!
