I'm curious, what is the typical payout for a Zakum and Horntail run? I know that it can be highly volatile due to book drops, but I'm curious about how much splits can garner you on average. Is it an effective means for making money, or is grinding forever superior?
Depends on the amount of attackers and if you're selling Zakum Helmets or Horntail Pendents, but assuming you're somewhat efficient, you could average 75m doing Zakum and around 150-200m for Horntail.
Thanks @Plenty! That's all I was really wondering. So, probably really good as long as you're efficient enough.
Grinding is superior for the sole reason that it's unlikely to be able to string together runs consistently over a long period of time. I think the most Horntail runs I've ever done in a day was 5, and that was over the course of about 12 hours because people need to go eat, bathe, smoke, other human functions, and are not all robotic grind machines. Not to mention the time it takes actually find people to run, go inside the map, and then there's server instability that costs you time while you wait for warps, etc. Zakum's limited to twice a day as well, so there's that too. Grinding has the lower potential payout, but the highest average and the most consistent reward, at least the way I see it as someone who's spent a good time grinding as a Hero and Bishop, and a good time bossing as a Night Lord, Corsair and Marksman. If you can find a good string of boss runs with people who are efficient, like Plenty said, then it'll win out, but it won't be easy! Spoiler: Current Boss Pricings divided into standard splits Horntail Prices - 6 attackers + 1 Bishop MW20 = ~1.2b = ~170m each Genesis 30 = ~900m = ~125m each Triple Throw 30 = ~500m = ~70m each Blizzard 30 = ~400m = ~55m each Berserk 30 = ~300m = ~ 40m each The rest of the books don't fetch much; Meteor 30 is about 40m now thanks to certain HT hosts underselling their books. Horntail Pendant+Egg sales runs normally go for around 600m (~85m each) but only one buyer is taken per run. Zakum Prices - Party sizes vary, so I'll leave that out Zakum Helmets - 60-80m each, can take anywhere between 2 and 5 buyers per run Skillbooks - 20-30m (occasionally includes an Eye of Fire as part of the payment) Genesis 20 - 750m Keep in mind these are what I notice as the average prices for things; what I personally sell them at at the moment, and thus how much I make off everything. If you want to compare stuff in that spoiler to grind money, check out Plenty's Moneymaking reference in General Discussion, it's pretty good at outlining some of the places people grind for money.
@Michael Top tier post sir. I award you 10 Internets. But seriously, thanks! That's super helpful and in depth information. That's exactly what I was planning to do, too. All about the efficiency.
