(This guide is going to start out bare just for the purposes of saving it constantly) Well well well. You are here. If you plan on going down this rabbit hole for real, just know you will be faced with a lot of ridicule and attention because this is seen as a meme, but you can definitely pull it off if you work hard. Let's start with pros and cons of using an axe as your weapon. Pros: -badass -cheap scrolls and gear, lets you spend more money on washing and end game equip -no DEX requirements Cons: -limited supply of gear on market -low accuracy, theoretically harder to level up Not having DEX is a blessing late game, it lets you have much more STR which means you scale harder with WA, giving you a much higher range. You'll have around 40-60 more STR than the average hero. (pre max level) Stats: Pure STR. You can add some points into DEX for accuracy, but I wouldn't recommend it. If you are funded, you can just use DEX gear, and if not, don't go above 23 base DEX, because that's the amount you will have at level 200. Equip: at level 50 you will get a zakum helmet and deputy star. Redner - the only fast speed high level axe. Your top/bottom will be optimized for the highest STR possible. 10+ STR clean is great. 6+ STR shoes will cut it until you get facestompers. While farming Himes you can get a 10 STR cape and 10 DEX earrings. Disclaimer: you won't be locked in to axe or sword exclusively. At 3rd job you will end up with a large amount of extra skillpoints that you can spend on your 2nd job skills, maxing both masteries and boosters. level 1-10: maple island quests, max nimble feet After reaching level 10 you will become a swordman and start your job related quests. Put 5 sp into improved HP recovery then max improved max HP increase. Afterwards, put 1 ap into power strike then max slash blast. Then max power strike. The first problem you will be faced with is not having accuracy. If you are unfunded, this will be like a wall you must smash through. If this is your first character, you will have to farm on lower level mobs for a while after completing your job related quests. I recommend farming orange mushrooms, and you can farm red snails for 10% overall DEX scrolls and scroll a low level warrior overall if desired. If not, you can invest in DEX earrings, DEX bathrobe, fish spear, and sad mask. Once you reach level 21, you can start getting carried in kpq or farm horny/undead mushrooms in ant tunnel if you have enough accuracy gear. level 30: go to perion and become a fighter. Fighter Skills: 1. max rage 2. 5 points into axe mastery 3. 6 points into axe booster 4. max axe mastery 5. max axe booster 6. max power guard Get carried in cpq, or keep training at sleepywood/kpq until you can do cpq through level 51. 51-58: coolie zombie 58: secret of the past - quay boat town 58-70: mysterious path 3 70: crusader go brrr Crusader Skills: 1. max combo attack 2. max coma: axe 3. max sword mastery 4. max sword booster 70-80: PPQ 80-100: return of captain latanica - quay boat town 100-115: himes with a priest 110+ skelegon/skelesaurus with another attacker and a priest 120: hero time 120+ bigfoot, pap 135+ zakum, krex
How come you max rage first? Wouldn't warrior elixr give the same attack, and having more mastery increase your dps at 30+. Unless you're talking about leechstory.
Both axe and sword can be both DEXless, though? Since you can only put 999 AP into STR the most (reach the max at LV.197), and you have no choice but to use the remaining stats into DEX (23 DEX at LV.200). Accuracy is not a big problem cuz you can get enough DEX/Accuracy through the equipment (such as scrolled zhelm, blue neos + pants, earring, MoN/HTP , etc.), means that wearing ST with full STR is possible. Yes, no matter which class, always get your weapon mastery to LV.19 or max first since it improves your minimum range and accuracy. Also, if you got a SI mule yourself, then the advantage of the fast weapon speed will be not so useful (weapon speed of normal + SI is same as fast + SI). Anyways, high dmg number from axe is pretty satisfying, and the DPS is pretty similar to sword while having all buffs, so axe is not a bad choice at all after they buffed it. Have fun!
Fast speed matters a lot. Brandish actually is faster with fast speed than normal even with SI and you'll definitely need fast speed weapon for grinding. if you have warrior elixirs then feel free to max mastery first, however using them in cpq is difficult Also, sword hero's usually aren't dexless until late game, since you need to have enough dex for stonetooth
Nah. Normal weapon speed (6) > After weapon boost (4) > with SI over LV.11 (2) = fastest Fast weapon speed (5) > After weapon boost (3) > with SI over LV.11 (2) = fastest, the speed (2) is the limit. I'll say there's no big differences for grinding with the 1 atk speed gap while mobs are killed within 2 or 3 hits. Like, if comparing them with Crimson Guardian grind, both fast speed and normal speed can prevent being sealed if you can 2 hit kill, while normal speed weapons are easier to do because of it's higher wa. Why do I know these? Simple, I own a LV.200 axe hero and a SI mule .
How much such axe cost? Interested!! Thank God I went with mastering both sword and axe in the beginning. Might gave up ST and go with Axe too!!
Normally you can find some nicely scrolled or clean Tavars (Lv.100 2H axe, had been buffed to normal speed already) in FM ,maybe? Since it dropped form petri which is popular among leechers. Normally good scrolled ones are like 13X wa, but I've never seen 14X wa ones (perfect Tavar is 148wa) since less ppl is playing as axe, sadly. IDK about the price of axes, but it should be much cheaper than swords for sure. https://royals.ms/forum/threads/nat...1-141-tomahawk-18-int-shield-and-more.161565/ You can try 1H axe as well, it's as good as 2H ones if you got a 20wa shield haha. 10B is not bad for that perf scrolled tomahawk since it's just 2wa less from real perf one.
From my friend's test results, a perf dragon battle axe (152wa) and a perf claymore (150wa) have same dps output, and a perf dragon 1h axe with 30wa maple shield has slightly higher output. So playing an 2h axe hero is really great value for the meso.
I wonder if @Geyforlife 's DPS calculator can double check this. The DPS calculator supposedly includes the axe buffs on the server, but doing some rudimentary calculations, it seems like sword still outdamages axe. https://royals.ms/forum/threads/damage-calculator-all-classes.123479/#post-869267
@onekeystory's friend tested the DPS in his own private server, and it shows that 152 wa 2H axe is same as 150 wa 2H sword with all buffs. So I guess the calculation of the DPS is like 2H axe + 2wa = 2H sword, like 135 wa Tavar = 133 wa Claymore. Just guessing.
That's pretty cool. Hopefully more people will be interested in making axe heroes with this revelation, there's a lot of decent options like dragon axe and redner that many people overlook.
