Ellin Forest Questline

Ellin Forest is the newest area that has been introduced to MapleRoyals. There are multiple things that this new area has to offer.
Some things that you can find here are new monsters, new equips, NPC's, tradeables and untradeables, and lots more.

• This questline can only be accessible after you have completed Papulatus pre-quests. (you do not have to kill pap, just make it up to the part right beforehand)
• You must be level 110+ to complete all the quests given in Ellin Forest.
• Completing the questline gives you access to Ellin Party Quest.

Listed below is a guide to completing Papulatus pre-quests.

Spoiler: Papulatus Pre-quests

• Talk to Mr. Bouffon at Ludibrium: Path of Time.
• Hunt for 10 Tachion from Soul Teddy, Buffy, Lazy Buffy, or Master Soul Teddy.
• Return to Mr. Bouffon with the item.

Step 2:

• Talk to Mr. Bouffon at Ludibrium: Path of Time.
• Hunt for 300 Tachions from Soul Teddy, Buffy, Lazy Buffy, or Master Soul Teddy.
• Hunt 100 Mysterious Powder from Master Death Teddy.
• Return to Mr. Bouffon with the items.

Step 3:

• Talk to Flo on the left side at Ludibrium: Path of Time.
• Obtain 3 pieces of cracked dimension, A, B, and C.
• Collect these either from, Giant Spirit Vikings or Grim Phantom Watches.
• Return to Flo with the items.

After you have completed the quests above, you will be granted with a text from Mr. Bouffon that welcomes you to Ellin Forest.

The Ellin Forest Questline begins now.

• Note: before the guide is even started, I want to mention there is a lot going on.
• You will be doing multiple quests for different portions, at different times.

Step 1: In order to get to Ellin Forest, you have to travel to Ludibrium first.
(In the spoiler below you will see where the Ludibrium locations are to get to Ellin Forest)

Step 2: You finally arrive in Ellin Forest.

• Note: this portion takes roughly 2-3 minutes.

(In the spoiler below you will meet all the NPC's and start your first section of town quests)

Spoiler: Starting your Town Quests

Yuris is the first NPC that you are greeted with, and provides you with your first quest.


You then proceed walking to the left, and continue talking with members of the town for the questline.



Continue walking left, and you will be greeted with the final NPC for the town quests at this portion.

Step 3: The grind essentially begins here.

• Note: this portion takes roughly 20-30 minutes.

(In the spoiler below you will see where to farm Moss Snail Shells, and the best location)

Spoiler: Leaving Town

You will be leaving town for the first time to start your journey farming.
The first items you will farm are Moss Snail Shells.

Move one map to the left. You will end up here.


Note for this portion: Collect 250 Moss Snail Shells, as you will need 50 in a later quest.


Once you have completed farming 200 Moss Snail Shells, you will return to town to finish the quest.

Step 4: More town interaction.

• Note: this portion takes roughly 5-10 minutes.

Spoiler: Town Interaction Part 2

Once you have turned in your first farming quest, you will be granted with multiple more quests throughout town.

Start off by speaking with Loha


You will then make your way slightly to the right to where Athena Pierce is located.

She is inside this tree located below.


She will have multiple quests for you.



Talk to Perzen who is right next to Athena Pierce.



You can now make your way out the same way you came in.

You will be greeted with another quest as soon as you come back outside.


Make your way to the very right of the map where town is.

Take the portal two times, and you will end up where Ellin is located, she will have multiple quests for you.





Make your way back towards town the same way you came from, and speak with Yuris.


You can now grab the final quest available in town at the moment.

Step 5: You have finished all the quests that are available at the moment from the townspeople.

• Note: this portion takes roughly 1 hour.

(In the spoiler below you will see where to farm Tree Trunks, and Forest Stones)

Spoiler: Leaving town for the 2nd time. The grind continues.

You will be leaving town for the second time to start your journey farming once again.

You will now be farming for Tree Trunks, and Forest Stones.

If you move three maps to the left. You will end up here.


As stated above there are two things you are searching for.

First:

In this map there are 4 teleports that make moving around the map very easy.

Once you have completed farming 200 Tree Trunks, and 100 Forest stones you will return to town to finish these quests.

You will need to talk to two NPC's.

First:


Second:


Next, talk with Athena Pierce, as shown earlier in the tree.

She will grant you with another quest.


You now have to head back to the same location you farmed your Tree Trunks, and Forest stones.

You will meet Shadrion.


Shadrion gives you your next quest which is to kill 999 Tree Rods.


After you have completed killing 999 Tree Rods, come back to town to turn in your quest as Athena Pierce.

Step 6: Even more town interaction.

• Note: this portion takes roughly 5-10 minutes.

(In the spoiler below you will continue your third portion of town quests)

Spoiler: Town Interaction Part 3

After you have turned in your quest from your farming expedition. You will be greeted with more quests from the NPC's in town once again.

Your first quest will be picked up from Athena Pierce which you will use for the future.


Go back outside to town the same way you came in to speak with Athena Pierce, and talk with Loha.


Head towards the left to a tent for your next quest, as shown below.


Speak with Sion.



Go back out the same way you came in, and return to Loha.



Go back to Perzen who is located inside the tree from earlier.


Child of destiny requires you to leave town momentarily for a quest task.

You need to kill 200 mushrooms, and obtain 200 Black Mushroom spores.


The best map to farm these is below.


Once you have obtained those, you can either return to town and move on with the questline, or continue with the other quests intertwined.


Go back to Sion for your final quest before you are off on your expedition again.

Step 7: You have finished all the quests that are available at the moment from the townspeople once again.

• Note: this portion takes roughly 2-3 hours.

(In the spoiler below, you will be introduced to Stone Bugs, Mossy Mushrooms, and Primitive Boars)

Spoiler: Leaving Town for the 3rd time. Chao awaits.

Once you have completed talking with everyone in town, you will need to find Rius.

Rius is one map to the left of where you were killing Tree Rods, and farming Tree trunks.



He will provide you with a quest where you need to farm Rubble.


The best location to farm this is shown below.


After you have finished farming 200 Rubble, you will return to Rius.


After returning to Rius you will have to continue deeper into the forest in search for Lohd.



Lohd will provide you with a quest to kill 999 Mossy Mushrooms.


Listed below is the best location to farm them.


During this quest you will also obtain 200 Black Mushroom Spores.


After you have finished farming 999 Mossy Mushrooms you will turn in the quest and head back to town.


Once you get back to town, Loha will have a quest for you.


Her quest is for you to set out to find Kanderune.

Kanderune is located at Boulder Mountain Entrance.



Kanderune provides you with a quest to kill 999 Primitive Boar.


Shown below is the best location to farm them.


Once you have finished killing 999 Primitive Boars, talk to Kanderune again.

Step 8: Meeting Chao.

• Note: this portion takes roughly 5-10 minutes.

(In the spoiler below you will be unlocking, and defeating Chao)

• Note: Chao has 7.5 million HP, so create parties accordingly if needed.
• Another side note, Chao can only be completed 2 times per day.

Spoiler: Encountering Chao.

You will be greeted with a quest that requires you to obtain 200 tough leather, chao's tusk, and defeating chao.


You will get enough Tough leather from the previous quest killing 999 Primitive Boar.


To enter Chao's cave go to the portal at the bottom left of the map, and you should be here.


In order to fight Chao you must be in a party. You can enter the party solo.


After you have finished killing Chao, return to Kanderune and turn in the quest.

Step 9: You have defeated Chao, and are ready to continue on your journey.

• Note: this portion takes roughly 5-10 minutes.

(In the spoiler below you will return back to town to show proof of defeating Chao, and continue talking throughout the town)

Spoiler: Town Interaction Part 4

Now that you have defeated Chao, its time to show proof, and turn in your Chao's Tusk.


This will require you to return back to town and speak with Loha.

After you have turned in that quest you will need to make your way towards the right and speak with Yuris.


You will then need to make your way to the far right of the map towards Ellin. Take two portals.



You can come back out the same way you entered, and head towards Athena Pierce in the tree.



Speak with Perzen shortly after who is right across from Athena Pierce.



You will be granted with a quest that will set you out once again.

Step 10: You have turned in you Chao tusk, and are ready to continue farming.

• Note: this portion takes roughly 1-2 hours.

(In the spoiler below you will venture to the deepest parts of the forest, and encounter fairies.)

Spoiler: Venturing to the deepest parts of the Ellin Forest

Your final quest before reaching the final boss is to kill 999 of each fairy.


There are two locations for farming these efficiently.

First Location: Best for Shiny Fairies.


Second Location: Best for Ancient Fairies.


After you have killed each of the fairies, you will return to town and speak with Perzen.

Step 11: Facing Ephenia.

• Note: this portion takes roughly 5-10 minutes.

(In the spoiler below you will be facing up against Ephenia)

• Note: Ephenia has 15 million HP, so create parties accordingly if needed.
• Another side note, just like Chao, Ephenia can only be completed 2 times per day.

Spoiler: Encountering Ephenia

You will be venturing into the deepest part of Ellin Forest to face Ephenia.


She can be found in the same spot you farmed your fairies last quest.


Once you get to this map you will enter Ephenia's lair.


After killing Ephenia you will return to town, and speak with Perzen.


You now obtain the title!

Once you have finished the Ellin Forest Questline, you are granted access to the party quest.

Hey man, great guide. Appreciate the amount of effort you put in brother!

 

For the Papu pre-quest, I was only able to see the "entrance into ellin forest" quest after i had completed the "A Piece of Crack" quest, to obtain the 3 different crack (A/B/C) from either Gigantic Spirit Viking or Grim Phantom Watch.

Only once I had handed in to Flo, only then did the ellin quest appeared above my head.

Hm. I got stuck on step 6 and I am unable to pick up the quest "Sion's Soulmate," but I completed all the other steps prior to that. I am able to pick up "Child of Destiny" however. Did I miss something?

Edit: Sion's Soulmate seems to have unlocked after I finished Child of Destiny.

It might be worth noting that you can only enter the Chao map twice a day.

Edited some information about Chao and Ephenia.

 

So I'm doing the quest line now and following the guide. Looks like you have to finish Child of Destiny which is obtain 200 Black Mushroom Spore before you can unlock Sion's Soulmate and the later part of the 999 Mossy Mushroom killing quest. Which is a real pain because the killing to obtain the 200 etc doesn't count to the 999 quest requirement!

EDIT: So this is the flow, take the Child of Destiny quest from Perzen. Then head to Ellin Forest: Mushroom Hill map and speak to Lohd (Thief Representative) and then start killing the Mossy Mushrooms for 999 kills and 200 Black Mushroom Spores. Sion's Soulmate should come after this. Will update once I'm done.

EDIT2: For the Moss Snails, I prefer the flat map of Ellin Forest: Eastern Region of Mossy Tree Forest. Nice flat map conducive to ranged attackers or if you don't like teleporting, climbing etc. It's the map just before Ellin (NPC) is located.

The same applies to hunting Primitive Boars. I prefer the flat map of Ellin Forest: Rocky Mountain Cave. It's the map where the portal to Chao is.

EDIT3: For the Ancient and Shining Fairies, I like the Ellin Forest: Fairy Forest 3 map, but the ratio of Shining to Ancient fairy is like 3:1. Gotta kill longer to meet the 999 quota for Ancient fairies.

 

Just edited step 6, had to figure out where to label that portion of Child of Destiny, but it has been updated.

You are able to granted the quest "Athena Pierce's concerns" as long as you completed "An Elven Surprise" by Yuris, so you can progress "Lazy, Lazy Tess" and "Athena Pierce's concerns", collecting tree trunks and killing tree rods at the same time!

 

Today I found out that the 999 Mossy mushroom quest is optional.

Spoiler: Lohd Quest

I haven't killed a Mossy mushroom and went straight to Chao, this way you could still obtain the Ellin Guardian Medal. Not sure if this is a bug

on my wk 3 mobs, rng is sad, but yes it a bit annoy
