I like the job of shad very much, but I encountered some bad situations during the game experience. I believe this kind of situation is also encountered by many shad players. When I use marco in boss run, I often get hurt just after dark sight, and then cannot use other skills and pots, especially after encountering some stun skills from boss.Maybe being able to use potions during dark sight will affect fairness, but I personally suggest that dark sight can be cancelled during stun. In addition, every shad player will use marco to release skills, but during marco (for example, just after dark sight) is damaged or moved, marco's subsequent skills will stop, which forces me to use normal attacks to cancel dark sight to continue using marco. This kind of experience is very bad, so why can’t you just use other skills or use dark sight to cancel it?Maybe this method will make marco more compatible with shad skills. I really like the job of shad, and I hope that this problem will be solved in the future as more and more shad players.I would like to sincerely thank all the staff for their efforts for mapleroyals.
I agree, dark sight should be canceled when you use ANY attack skill, not just normal attack and assasinate. This would also help the flow of combat in lower jobs, allowing for in/out dark sight combat, but without all the jank of needing to press normal attack. As for stuns, it will be nice if the character can automatically get out of dark sight when stunned
yea its weird that a basic attack is the only way to cancel it. seems like it should be toggleable by using the skill itself.
The idea of cancelling dark sight with any attack skill is very appealing, and would be a welcome change (I believe this is how it has worked in modern maple for a while now.) I think it is also fair to cancel dark sight during stun, using some attack key. I however am not in favor of an automatic cancellation of dark sight upon stun. I would still like to see required human input. There are pros and cons to every job, and in this case maximizing DPS requires dark sight. While it is a bit jank/unfair as you described, I feel auto leaving dark sight upon stun is in the same realm as giving Dark Knights a single special potion to maintain berserk all the time.
I didn't comment anything about this change should be implemented or not, OP suggested that dark sight can be cancelled during stun but actually this function already exist so I pointed out it simply. There was countless deaths in auf runs due to those shads don't know about this then killed by magic skill after being stunned in dark sight, I don't think everyone actually know it.
As a shadower main myself, how I've combated this issue is by having assassinate binded to a key by itself. If I ever get stuck in dark sight and I need to reposition, I'll normal attack to cancel dark sight while moving. If I'm in position to deal damage still, I'll just hit assassinate and then restart the attacking macro. My input to this thread is as a player and a shadower main, not as a staff member, so my opinions might not reflect the opinion of the entirety of staff. I'm against having dark sight being removed automatically by stuns. There's a lot of cases where I want to STAY in dark sight when I get stunned. I'm against using pots while in dark sight. This would make it extremely over-powered. Being able to avoid ALL physical damage and being able to pot is like a get out of jail free card. Not to mention shadow shifter and your natural avoid still work in dark sight when it comes to taking magic damage. I'm against having all skills cancel dark sight. How will it work? Hitting a skill will take you out of dark sight without casting the skill? If so, then what's the difference between hitting normal attack to get out? If you are asking to cast other skills while in dark sight, imagine dark sight + boomerang step combo. You are invulnerable to physical damage the entire time, and you have a bunch of iframes, making you nearly unkillable. That's too broken and shouldn't be in the game. Sure, there's some inconvenience when you get stuck in dark sight, but having assassinate / normal attack on keys that are easy to reach makes this not so bad. I think utilizing normal attacks to get out of dark sight is a great mechanic as is. Anyways, this was a great thread for me personally as it has lead me to update my shadower guide to include this note
This was one of the points brought up in a previous discussion: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/fix-various-janky-things-about-shadowers.178855/. But as you can see, no further progress was made
The convinience of not having to fumble around to find one specific key to disable dark sight is not neglegable. Shad is one of the more keyboard crowded classes in the game imo, letting them move the normal attack key further way from the convinient area in the keyboard [which is different for each person] is still something. Tbh, i'd also be ok with at least making dark sight itself as the other option of coming out of dark sight, because it makes sense, and achieves the goal of freeing up a keyboard slot [cause you always need the dark sight button in a comfortable spot on the keyboard anyways]. As for the stun not going auto, i didn't realize you can remove it when stunned using right click like @Fli mentioned. But if we'll go with what i said above (dark sight skill disable itself when recasted), then i think that giving it the functionality of being able to disable the skill even under stun would be a big deal (not needing to fumble with the mouse to right click the skill before you are dead vs. clicking the darksight skill).
I think it will be best to be able to use potion while in dark sight, the main problem I had here is when stunned during dark sight before assassinate, you cannot heal and eventually lead to death since stun duration is long enough for multiple hits @@
Disagree, gives them a massive defensive tech that can let them phase through any touch damage. All new shads complain about this before they max shifter. After you max shifter and learned how to use it, it's never a problem. And if you die stuck, you die stuck, nobody is making you use nate combo. Your problem is you are trying to heal before you escape, and you lose time. Escape/cancel first if stuck, then heal. No problem, no change needed. Completely unnecessary and broken to change any of it, learn how to play it first. No problems. If you're at zak, it's you're fault if you get stunned: it's telegraphed and you can use bstep to iframes the pillar. if you still get hit, you wouldn't be in dark sight. If you are, you chose to be in that position. If you're anywhere else where it's not telegraphed, escape then heal, don't fumble and do the opposite, or manual toggle out, like in HT in sed. You'll be fine once you have max shifter. If you keep dying, it's because you simply aren't paying attention and that doesn't sound like a well behaved child! Doesn't warrant a class overhaul, sorry
If your idea implemented, you're getting sed while in dark sight, will hero will able to press? If it can be press, it's gonna be cancel dark sight or hero will? If you are in ds, and press another ds, will it cancel ds, unable to press, or refresh ds? I guess it is a no but idk if the code will be complicated or if it's possible to do that way. Also, when you got sed in dark sight and u got stunned, will it be good to auto cancel ds or nah?
I already did? My original points remain. Giving dark sight the flexibility you mentioned is op early game and in many situations thru end game, it makes toggling far too easy before and after you have nate. It's op, it's not needed. Its the risk of sneaking and using assassinate, and the risk of spamming it. Shads have the best avoid and tankiness in the game, you are suggesting giving them no handicap or restrictions on ds. Anyway this same topic has been brought up many times before, there is a link in this page to the most recent thread before this one. I and others said the same thing. Its always bandwagon shads that have no friends to help guide them, or shads in their growing pain stages of trying to boss before they can effectively and intuitively main their nate macro and before they max shifter. Its crucial you know your key placement, have a specific assassinate key, normal attack key, macros/etc key to escape, and be alert, there won't be any fumbling. Your (or most early shads) macro will likely be on V to begin with, with nothing on ctrl. I have a filled macro list and all my skills as well as steal and chakra and pp (for fun) and can still maintain. It's nothing like being a sair, shads just need to stay alert, and you can basically chill. this is just new shads complaining to eachother and liking eachothers posts asking to totally change something that's easily overcome once you practice it (just like the other threads). trust me, it's not an issue. I'm an unfunded, entirely unwashed shad at 198. its not hard. figure your keys out and learn new habits or play NL/hero
Anyway, dark sight can be canceled (what ever normal attack or any another key)during stunned is more health of shads. Why i have to click my dark sight icon from my screen right-top for cancel only?
Not sure what you mean exactly. Unless you're in a situation where your mg just got dispelled or is about to run out, you do not need to worry about it. You have 600+ avoid plus 30% chance to avoid anything. maybe your pet hp threshold is too low, or your potions aren't healing you to max from your threshold, but you shouldn't be in danger even if you are stunned or in sed in ds, you can right click out, and since you can't move in stun anyway, what's it hurt, and since you aren't doing anything because you're stunned, what's wrong with clicking out? And any GM will tell you, just like they will tell a DRK complaining about berserk, nobody is forcing you to zerk 100% of the time, especially if it will kill you. You learn to pick your battles based on your hp, skill, and the situation
