All things have been said, I apologize for replying you as such. To keep things in topic, the recent changes will only lead to a decline in our server. What i've mentioned above. Vote2win, Hackers. These are problems that we should improve and work around on. How many players have been unfortunately banned due to not knowing the rules and "Vote2win"? How bad is our economy right now? Nerfs and making changes to punish our legitimate players time, mesos and creativity is definitely not a right decision. Which i won't be surprised to see a eventual drop in veteran playerbase, and new player unable to catch up with the veterans using a smarter gameplay method. Advice on royals current system for improvement as another developer would be much appreciated without any sort of advertisement.
You may wish to refer to my original reply, where I explained the reasoning of why I am stopping him as it will evolve into Kimmy advertising Legends on here https://royals.ms/forum/threads/map...-top-1-leaderboard.188104/page-2#post-1100355 If you still strongly believe "Are you sure you want to continue this argument" = a threat to give warning points, I can only explain my context of that sentence is "this argument is meaningless and will lead to a bad end" You may report me to the Staff team if you believe I am prone to power abusing, I can only say that all of the warning points I have given out so far have supporting reasons - any wrong (or power abused) warning points given will be removed once verified
Nah don’t need to report Dave he only committed one small mistake by choosing his words wrongly. You’re doing a good job dude and I suggest you guys to don’t proceed with this let’s keep in topic shall we
Upon the release of the new source, Royals was burnt to ashes and rebuilt almost from scratch. Many features were fixed 1 by 1 from the broken balance. Unfortunately, the rates at the time were broken in a way to favor higher income for every player. By progressively fixing the rates, the players who joined later inevitably made less income in direct comparison. Inflation and Deflation should have occurred in the market to balance the changes but rampant RWT kept values of important currencies as high as before. Meanwhile, power creep started accelerating and accumulating amount of players who reached the end game managed to exploit the extremities of allowed features, such as muling and multi-clienting. They maximized the efficiency one can pull off from the available contents. At this point, the gap between new players and old players stretches further apart because the room for the extension at the end game is boundless with limitless multi clients one can launch, while newbies are forced to follow the identical path if they ever want a chance to catch up. There will always be a group that will benefit from changes but if we do nothing just because we cannot tolerate a group of people benefitting more than others, we can never rectify the problems that grow worse as time elapses. These nerfs seem horrible at a close sight but in the bigger picture, they were to an extent (leaving out NL avoid nerf), necessary to counter the critical power creep in the server. I already explained why Royals as a server sees more complaints than our neighbor server. Royals offered more freedom in the beginning then added restrictions that seemed necessary as exploits or unbalances were discovered. Humans are almost never happy to accept additional hardship. If our new journey began with hardship, it would have been a different story because every change would only mean positive additions to loosen the difficulty of the game. One might say it was a bad strategy of Royals to take this route but that's what we have on the table. There's a simple solution to this. Royals' Dev from now, should release every content in the most restricted way, then loosen it progressively. You'll be amazed at how easily the crowd's psychology can be manipulated although the end result (balance) will be equal to what was planned in the beginning.
Although it isn't my intention to make you feel threatened, I do recognize my role of forum mod may make you or any other players feel so, and I apologize if the replies given previously were too rude (or straight-forward) I just don't want the situation to end up as server advertising when it isn't meant to be Hope that clarifies the situation Regarding the matter of vote2win and hackers, I do agree that suggestions from a game developer could help with improving the situation, I just hope it isn't worded like server advertisment, cause things will turn ugly
Dave, you're striving away from the core value of this post and our intentions of making replies on this threads as players. We want to voice out our opinions and give feedbacks on how we feel bout the server. You constantly defending the server hardcore style isn't helping it at all. There are a lot of things that needs to be fixed, and the things we are addressing here have already been mentioned for too many times in other previous posts. I won't elaborate too much on these bout to rotten issues we have discussed over and over. But a good start here is to accept facts, the fact that Royals are still struggling with obvious flaws in game/rules/management. A number of players willing to write on forums on these issues already reflect it's not just me who notices it, but these are huge problems that are affecting everyone's playing experience Royals isn't doing good enough, and we need to accept it as a fact. From there onwards then we can start to work on the problems. Constant denial will not bring us anywhere We want this server to be better. A better environment for us to enjoy playing, and to attract more new players and make the server lively. That's our goal and shall we not lose focus on it
Lol, one time i had my post edited to remove a link to a guide from another server cause i used it as reference to my post and decided it would only be fair to give credit to the original post.
ah i see but then again... giving credit to the original post.. wouldnt that technically be advertising?
Well, I wasn't trying to advertize the server, only giving credit to one of the players in that server that made the guide.
"5) over jokes I assumed you are referring to cases such as vote abuse, RWT or hacking jokes, does that mean such statements should be OK? Supposed if 2 buddies are talking the troublesomeness of grinding a Bishop to 13x or something, and 1 of them joked about "Just buy a Bishop account?" and the other party took it seriously, does that mean the guy who joked about buying account is innocent and shouldn't be banned?" i just wanted to add my input over this. i think it says a lot about a server when gm's cant or wont take the time to read into context before issuing a ban. i've been told not to make any jokes about anything because it'll get me banned no matter what. i think it is wrong to ban someone if context can show both parties were joking, especially if it was in a private conversation in a party or a whisper between friends. i can understand a ban being issued if this "joke" was over a smega or in a very populated area like fm1, but if it's clear that it was a joke to everyone in the conversation then it shouldn't be ban worthy, and common sense and discretion should be used before banning. the above example isn't really a good example because if it was 2 "buddies" talking then im sure they would be able to communicate a joke, and it's still in the end, a joke. the punishment for joking is really unnecessary and i think it hurts the health of the community to be this strict over a joke.
I just transferred from Legends to here. Their server is half dead really. Though MapleLegends allows multivote so there's that. Royals should do this too and completely remove NX trading / dropping ( or at least for AP resets ). I mean in Legends players care way less about this issue, because it's harder server to play than Royals because of the rates, which lead to people truly enjoying the nostalgic experience and creating any class they want ( there's tons of i/l mages and archers ). It's already a META here that new players keep getting suggested that you must HP wash your character to play this server, which is not true at all. It ruins the original experience 2004-2010. Also there should be another way to fix the banning problem that Royals has. Instead of banning permanently, why not just ban for temporarily or add maplestory jail room for 1-2 weeks? I mean rules are rules but i find it highly illogical to ban permanently forever if you get banned permanently for small things.. what is it 3 times totally to get permanent ban? How about fixing the hacking problem and adding auto ban? Ever since Legends fixed their hacking problem, their numbers skyrocketed and less and less people got banned. I think Royals has already lost probably over a thousand players already ( permanent ban ). Not even society keeps people in jail for permanent, at least not in Nordic countries where i am from. Just suggesting, it's not rocket science. Instead of getting full ban, you get less severe kind of punishments which leads to player not actually leaving the game forever.
I agree with temporary bans. However it seems like whoever set up the rules (prob Matt?) thinks it is a wonderful idea to permanently remove a player for minor problems. No GMs can defy it even though they disagree with banning them. GMs just have to do what they were told to do. Banning an account permanently is one thing, and blocking a player forever from playing Royals is another thing, it's waaaay worse and serve no benefit unless what they did is an easily repeatable offense. If what they did was a minor mistake (eg. not knowing rules about voting and committed multi vote), imposing the most severe ban - perma ban on their account is seriously more than enough. Let them play from the start again is the least you should give them. Taking away that last opportunity to enjoy here is seriously, seriously fucked up.
Reminding royals to fix the hacking problems is like telling a student to get all A's. It's definitely possible but it's not something that will speed up through constant reminder. They are working on it and there's not much we can do until a completed version arrives. An encouragement might help tho. And I can guarantee you, whichever server you go, there will be tons of ban evaders so we aren't exactly missing out on all the ppl who were permanently banned here. Regarding HP washing, there's very little one can do about the already washed characters but Royals is moving in a direction that further encourages optional HP washing. There already is a repeatable daily HP quest that allows any non-mage character to reach the maxHP in theory. The biggest enemy to this solution is RWT and vote abuse on top of competitiveness but they are being worked on. Servers have different traits that can be learned from another. However, some are just not as applicable because not all servers share the same building blocks. One should note that Royals is way more competitive than the neighbor server. The rates are higher and the road to the end game is way shorter. This discourages a fair amount of people who prefer hardcore, nostalgic experience but as we can see from the numbers, the modern gamers don't like spending an eternity building up their character. The demand for the black market growth completely overwhelms every other server in existence. That competitiveness is what drove and populated this server in the long run, to an extent. Applying lenient rules won't really work here because there's simply more hidden crime that may collectively collapse the economy of the server, if not suppressed with brute force. From the perspective of casual players, the rules may seem unnecessarily strict but if one ever tried putting on staff's shoes, a different conclusion may be drawn. Welcome to Royals nevertheless.
Just to clarify: We no longer issue permanent bans for minor infractions, and we have always issued temporary bans for unintentional/minor vote abuse. If you truly believe that falsifying the records of 11 siblings in your household to gain ~100k NX a day or spending thousands of dollars to purchase end-game gear is considered "minor problems," you're entitled to your opinion and I respect that. But most people in this community would disagree, which is why the rules have come to be enforced in the ways they are currently. MapleRoyals isn't a nation-state where we permanently remove bodily autonomy from individual citizens for breaking the rules. It's a video game where we simply do not welcome players who intentionally exploit the system in order to ruin the experience for everyone else.
