Hi. This is mostly a post looking for official GM response. Please let me know if either of these 2 scenarios fall under RWT, as it is kind of a grey area.

    1. I host an in-game event and the winner(s) of the event receive some sort of real life prize, like buying them a meal from DoorDash.
    2. I host an in-game event and the winner(s) of the event send me their RP purchase link and I buy them Royal Points with my own CC.

    Thanks!

I think a good rule of thumb is to try and imagine if you were a RWTer if you could possibly use this scheme to mask your RWT. The only line I can think of is:

Step 1: Rig the contest so your accomplice wins
Step 2: He secretly sends you items/meso
Step 3: You buy him doordash/RP

Of course, the contest only masks half of the transaction, so it's still suspicious that you'd receive items for free, and that sort of thing is commonplace anyways.

I would be receiving nothing in all these situations from whoever wins, and there would be no positive correlation between my in-game wealth and running guild events.

That is an interesting situation you bring up but honestly I'm not afraid of being accused of RWT, just of breaking a rule.

Yeah I think when it comes to contests and giveaways, it's much more risky when the prizes are in-game items, because that could be used to mask the virtual side of the transaction while the real-world side is naturally masked. It wouldn't make sense to flip it like this since the digital side would still be unmasked and you're actually bringing attention to the real-world side by holding a contest to begin with.

What is the contest can't be rigged? Like if there was an RNG factor that's also going to be live streamed (with participants watching as it's a private guild event)

Not a GM, but just wanna give some opinions as an ex-Staff

    1. depending on how the in-game event is set up, it can lead to RWT situations

    Example
(not RWT) - answer a quiz about Royals to win prizes
(is RWT) - the first person to give me 10 fames (or certain in-game items such as weapon or quest ETCs) wins prizes

Note: I understand the above example can be odd/extreme, just showing how the "in-game event" can be abused to mask actual RWT activity/trading

A potential complication for situation 1:
the winner claiming not receiving your "prize" such as the food ordered from DoorDash

    2. similar to situation 1, it can be abused to mask actual RWT situations

A potential complication for situation 2:
Supposed someone won the game and is eligible for the said "RP", but sells away his rights of obtaining "RP" to another player for a certain amount of meso, under such circumstances, it becomes RWT for sure (you are unable to verify the RP purchase link too)

Disclaimer: I am not saying you will do all these RWT stunts, just highlighting the potential abuse by RWTers of the said in-game events

As there isn't a proper definition of what is considered an "in-game event", technically one could argue "the first person to get me a perfect claw gets to win RP" is event and not RWT

ok to clarify, these "Events" would be guild events LOL no one would be receiving anything in game, if anything it would be like "first person to compelte zak jq wins mcdonalds" :duckhappy:
