I started playing a few days ago, and have a lot of questions, hoping I can get some help ^_^

    - I'm planning on making a bishop for funding/self leech/self hs, but I'm not sure if I should go lukless, low luk, or regular luk. The main reason for the bishop isn't for long term playing, but for the reasons stated earlier.

    - My first character is a bit screwed, but not terribly. I accidentally leveled to 9 before advancing to magician. I doubt it's going to be a huge deal, but seeing as I just got to level 20, starting over right now isn't a terrible blow. She also has luk added, so starting over depends on the answers I get to the question above, too.

    - My second character I plan on making my main is going to be a hero, and I'm wondering if I should be planning on hp washing. I've seen said that mainly ranged classes need it, but is it a good idea to hp wash a hero too?

And any advice for a brand new player would be welcome to :3

Go Lukless. The end game weapons for Mages do not required any Luk as well as a multitude of 'Lukless' armor you can wear to offset those higher tier armor clean stats. Luk adds nothing to a Mage's DPS so stay away from adding AP to Luk.

As long as you max out Magic Claw, Improve MP and Magic Guard (which you will), it doesn't matter.

It's always a good idea to HP Wash any character. Heroes don't need that much washing compared to other classes. The most you'll need to do it get a Zakum Helmet, Silver Deputy Star and a scrolled Wooden Wand as soon as possible and you'll have a decent amount of HP at level 170 (around 19k IIRC, which is just the number to have 30k HP with Hyper Body).

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the help! :3 I actually re-made a magician on a different account since I found out you can't delete a character yourself and went lukless. Already noticed a different in damage.

And ok, glad I asked. I'm still hemming and hawing over whether I'll be making a hero or a dk, but seeing as my magician isn't even into cleric yet, I think I have more time to decide.

Any input on what classes are fairly beneficial/wanted for bosses/decent damage/stuff would be great. I played MS back in 2006 so I kind of remember how it used to be, but I've also played post-BB so those memories are more prominent. I've always enjoyed warriors in general and bandits.

Sounds like you want to make a Dark Knight. Fairly easy to wash, great damage output, Hyper Body is the boom jams and there really isn't enough Dark Knights in the game. Training is fairly easy, but the only hard pressing issue for Dark Knight is that Sky Skis (especially godly clean/scrolled) are very hard to come by. You also benefit hugely from Speed Infusion which is a plus. It's recently been discovered that a Dark Knight's DPS is slightly better than a Hero's so that's also a plus.

If you're considering making a Dark Knight and starting on your Bishop, put the time into making a Speed Infusion mule. Great for Bishop and Dark Knight training.

I've never been super huge on DPS or anything, but that is a plus. I would assume HB > rage for parties, anyway :p Now, this might be a super silly question, but as far as skills, is hybrid dk a thing on this server? I know in live in a similar version # I made one before they made a generalized mastery skill for warrior weapons. Or is it generally better to stick to straight spear due to the skis?

Rage is absolutely horrible. Like Final Attack, don't even waste your SP on it if you can avoid it.

Hybrid DK is a thing and the most recommended build, but you'll mainly use a Spear end game anyway. 2nd/3rd job is littered with subpar skills so you shouldn't have any problems with maxing both masteries and respective attacking skills.

Sounds good ^_^ Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. And I suppose for a SI mule I'd need a third account to be able to use it for both the bishop and dk @_@; I'm not sure if I'll go that hog wild into it, but knowing myself, I probably will in the long run.
