Hey all, currently making a beginner for fun around level 55 ATM, gonna wash and try to fight all bosses for fun maybe even try to solo zakum. anyways I’m curious about end game, equips/weapons I should be using and trying to scroll in meantime that beginners can use. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thank you!
https://royals.ms/forum/threads/disorienteds-permanent-beginner-guide.67505/ Very Outdated. What you need to know is in there. From a Scale from 1 to IL Mage Zak Solo. I'd rate Beginner Zak solo an 11. Good fucking luck, lol. Just keep hitting it I guess. Zak does have a very low DPS check, since it heals itself. I am not sure on the spefics, I do think Beginners can fairly easily out-dps that. I can advice starting early in the day and be ready to pull an all-nighter, lol. I gave up my first Ironman NL solo on level 140 after 9 hours at b3. Not that I would not make it, but it was like 6 in the morning and I was looking to need to go for at least another 3-6h at the rate I was going. (Wich is for other reasons an horific grind than a Beginner but I would assume not slower than a Beginner) Protip, the bottom arms do nothing so you can leave those for last and take a pee-break xD. About Weapons: You have acces to the Maroon Mop. Wich has the highest W.Atk of any weapon in the game but also the slowest Attack Speed. Havent tried it myself but I guess it really sucks to grind with. Allthough it might be the best choice for bossing. I would stick to the 1h-Pyrope/Maple Swords and try to get a good Maple Shield. A Maple Shield with decent Atk is fairly cheap, has no requirements and will carry for the forseeable future. Also, you have acces to Umbrella's and Surfboards. Surfboards are fairly easy and cheap to get and PA scrolls are dirt cheap, they are not even rare to find very well scrolled for very cheap, non-leeching DK's use them for 3rth job. Maple Umbrella comes with Speed. Speed will increase your exp/h signicantly more than those normies holding shift for 20 minutes at Krex will give credit for. Since your damage is going to be ultra shit regardless what you do. What weapon is best will change for what content you do. On my level 60 Islander I can still get about 8-10% exp/h on Dangerous Forest, wich is not even the best map for exp. I am minimum DEX for 80 min damage, rest full LUK, 140 Speed and 115 Jump, fully optimised for smacking Orange Mushrooms and I do burn fast through my Red Shells from using the Beginner Skills (and even run out of mp all the time, lol). From my pre-3rth Job EMS days, when we could only use the Valentine Roses, grinding with these Polearms was always very nice. They have good range and with the right amount of DEX to always at least 1-hit Red Snails (wich was 45 damage and they did have some w.def back then) and rest STR you could fairly easily get 90-95%+ chance to 1-hit Orange Mushrooms since they come with good W.Atk. However if I use Polearms now, the lack of being able to throw Snail Shells feels very cumbersome. Whatever suits for the map you are grinding is the best weapon to use. You might be able to 1-hit some fat mobs with the Very Slow Maroon Mop and get decent exp that way. Or you might be better off farming some very low level mob very fast, with a lot of speed, and a weaker but much faster weapon that allows you to pull mobs with your only useable skill. For the rest of the equips. Its the same story for any non-mage. Zhelm, MoN/HTP, all the rings, Maple Leaf/Rudolf Nose, Goggles, EP ears, SCG/BWG, FS/VL Boots. I don't really think Top+Bot has any reason to beat an OA. Warriors often choose Top+Bot before end-end-game gear since the Male OA is hard to farm and the Top+Bot drops at leech maps. Female OA is much more easy to grind but then the Female Bot is also better than the male one (level 100 vs level 90 BiS). There is some difference between Warriors and Beginners for choosing to scroll for STR/DEX. Warriors have Mastery wich increases their Damage Conversion from STR to Minimum Damage. Resulting in more Minimum Damage from each point of STR than from DEX. Therefor, the only reason for DEX (beside 120 DEX req from StoneTooth) is Acc. For a Beginner, with a base 0.1 Mastery for every weapon, this is not the case. Hence why you will always hear us Islanders discuss about DEX Especcialy for Spear/PA its fairly massive how much it differs. Min= (STR*Mod*0.9+DEX)*Atk/100 A DK using PA Fury will always swing Polearm(swing) Mod = 5 Mastery = 0.8 STR = 1 DEX = 0 Min= (1*5*0.8*0.9+0) = 3.6 STR yields 3.6 times the Min Damage Conversion than DEX would for a Warrior using PA Fury A Beginner using a PA the min Damage (listed in the stat menu) is from PA(Stab) Polearm(Stab) Mod = 3, Polearm(swing) Mod = 5 Mastery = 0.1 STR = 1 DEX = 0 Min=(1*3*0.1*0.9+0)=0.27, (1*5*0.1*0.9+0)=0.45 STR yields on average 0.36 times the Min Damage Conversion than DEX would for a Beginner using a Normal Attack tl;dr - skipped the maths DEX is much better for you than for a Warrior. How much better depends on the weapon, mobs and map of choice. A pre-4rth Job warior would need at most like 40-60 DEX for Acc. After 4rth job and some decent gear you dont need DEX for Acc at all and most can just APR back to 4 Base DEX. Every 2nd Job Mastery Skill, in addition to the Mastery, also come with with Acc. Beginners dont have that and you'll prolly need to adjust for 20 Accuracy compared to Warriors. However when the go Hymes you can prolly barely go Golems in Sleepywood. Idk Lastly, to comment on what to scroll in the meantime If you are HP-Washing, that means you are full leeching anway. I would not even bother beside trying to get the best of each weapon slot you can get. If you are not full leeching with at least 150-200 Base INT, why are you washing a beginner in the first place? Play the game instead. There are many ways to viably gain more HP.
Dude you’re awesome this is some great information yeah leeching currently on my Bish damn so it’s gonna be a long day haha
We can wash, it's just really horrific as we only get 8-10 HP/MP per AP. It isn't needed anymore with all the HP quests and scrolling a few items if needed with HP. As a beginner you can eventually solo zak, it is possible .
That's good to know. I was planning on doing hp quests anyway but was curious if washing was available for us.
I've only grinded a permabeginner to level 62, but I'm skeptical that mop is actually the optimal endgame weapon. Here's my reasoning: As a beginner you'll either be putting your AP into DEX or STR. DEX for min damage and accuracy, STR for max damage. You'll need to add enough DEX to make up for your lack of ACC, even after getting bonuses from gear. How much you need will depend on which mobs you're hoping to grind. Mobs at Lv.80-100 usually require around 110-150 ACC to hit reliably. I think you get about 0.8 ACC per DEX so some investment will be unavoidable. But for the rest of the AP, you'll want to put it into STR so you can actually deal out some damage. Just to illustrate the difference- At level 50, if you put all your AP into DEX and you have 50 WA, you'll be hitting for 127-135 damage. If you put it all in STR, it's 47-510, so on average you'll be hitting for ~280. It's clear pumping STR will be beneficial once you've reached your target ACC, but that means you'll have a very wide damage range. The problem with slow weapons like mop is that if you whiff and hit on the low end, it takes a long time to get the next hit out. If you're attacking a big boss with a ton of health, it will all average out, but if you're grinding normal mobs that normally take you 2-3 hits to kill, I think the delay caused by these slow whiffs will really eat into your DPS. Consider these two loadouts, one with the slowest beginner weapon in the game, and the other with the fastest beginner weapon: Lv.100, 150DEX 354STR with 240 atk mop: 665-3758 Lv.100, 150DEX 354STR with 83 atk Liu Bei dagger + 20atk shield: 285-1612 You're dealing less than half the damage with the dagger, but attacking much faster and recovering from whiffs quicker. Fast weapons also have the advantage of being able to jump-swing with the entire swing animation occurring in the air, so you can move along a flat map attacking mobs without losing momentum. Of course the dagger has the downside of having drastically shorter range than the mop. All that said I don't have any data to back up my mop skepticism, so it'd be interesting if someone with a high-level beginner would record some grinding sessions with the following contenders: Maroon Mop (Lv.36 220atk 9-speed polearm) Liu Bei Dagger (Lv. 53 69atk 3-speed dagger + shield) Duck Tube (Lv. 100 90atk 5-speed mace + shield) Crimson Arcglaive (Lv.100 105atk 5-speed polearm)
