For more info join our discord: discord.gg/N7KyXab As of January 2017, with the release of the new source, the training camp maps are open and you can play as a Camper. FAQ Spoiler Q: What is a Camper? A: A camper is a character which does not leave the Training Camp (which comes before Maple Island) and continues to level there indefinitely. Q: Why make a Camper? A: This is a rather subjective and personal question, it cannot be answered too broadly except perhaps to say that those who make campers most likely derive some form of pleasure from the aesthetic or novelty of the apple suit / tutorial music, or perhaps enjoy the large community of like-minded people, the challenge of levelling on 1 (3 past level 10) exp per kill, the simplicity and casualness of the grind or the internal consistency of the Apple Training Camp. Q: Should I make a Camper? A: I cannot answer that for you, just know that it is not for everyone, being successful as a camper means having dedication, patience and committing to an abysmal grind a.k.a hard work. Just know that if you do decide to make one the community will welcome you with open arms. We will have an official guild in alliance with Islanders, a shared skype chat / call, an active and supportive community and if you reach a high enough level IslandSlut might buy you a face. Q: What kinds of monsters are inside the apple tutorial? A: Nerfed versions of Drum Bunnys (Tutorial Drumming Rabbit) and Jr. Leattys (Tutorial Leatty) with 8 hp each which reward 1 exp each (or 3 when you reach level 11.) Q: How did you get that cool hair / face? A: Those who have non-default faces acquired them by donating to the server in return for RP (Royal Points) and spending these on new hair and eyes using the command ~donator. You should note that you cannot go back to the default hairs or faces once you make the change and some off-island faces and hairs are missing from the donator stylist. Q: How active will the apple tutorial be? A: If you want to see it active you have to be an active participant yourself. People like to play when others are around. Join the guild Campers when you have the chance to keep in touch. Q: How might partying work inside the tutorial? A: No-one knows for sure yet. In order to lead a party one Camper will need to reach level 11, then what will happen with the experience is unknown. Perhaps everyone in the party will gain 1 exp per creature killed leading to a party based grind. Perhaps experience will not be split at all and solo grinding will be the most efficient method. Perhaps that might change as you level above 10 and start receiving 3 exp each kill. Camper Vocabulary Spoiler Camper / Applelander: These terms refer to characters which stay and level in the Training Camp where your equipment is supplemented with an apple-like uniform. Camper Hype / Nostalgia Spoiler This section contains a bunch of random nonsense to get you nostalgic and hyped for Campers. GMS Pre-BB Camper Rankings BUILD GUIDE Spoiler Only one skill provides utility to campers, Nimble Feet, anything else is up to you. Keep in mind you can't get snail shells or take damage in the Training Camp. Standard Camper For this build you increase your DEX stat in attempts to build high enough minimum damage (8) to 1-hit KO tutorial monsters. Youi can achieve this by level 7. Once you reach 8 minimum damage you may find it interesting to continue adding STR for increased damage or more to practical to add to MP so that you can use Nimble Feet more often since MP is a scarce resource inside the camp. CAMPER GRINDING GUIDE Spoiler For these calculations solo experience is calculated using the most efficient training patterns possible, with a club and with a standard camper build. (Drumbunny Spot) Left Side Solo 1x: 804 p/h Solo 3x: 2412 p/h (Drumbunny Spot) Left Side (Only Killing The 2 Left-Most Drum Bunnies) Solo 1x: 1020 p/h Solo 3x: 3060 p/h This is the weaker solo training spot because of the lower amount of spawns, long walking distance to monsters and inconvenient layout. Here is the optimal training pattern. (Leatty Spot) Right Side Solo 1x: 1326 p/h Solo 3x: 3978 p/h This side is far better for solo training. Here is the optimal training pattern. (Duo Set-Up) Full Map Duo: Around ?k p/h each = ?k p/h collectively (This appears to be the exp threshold for this map, i.e. the maximum experience which can be reasonably milked from it) How Much Longer Until I Level? EQUIPMENT RANKINGS Spoiler Nothing here for now. CAMPER RANKINGS ARCHIVE Spoiler Nothing here for now. CAMPER DRAMA ARCHIVE Spoiler This is where, to the best of knowledge, I will document the dramatic goings on of the tutorial every month. Camper Guilds Campers - This guild was founded by IslandSlut's off-island beginner, LadyAmherst shortly after campers were confirmed in July 2015 to be ready for their release. Some time soon this guild will join in an alliance with existing islander guilds. July 2015 Spoiler - On July 7th Administrator Matt said that in the new source Campers were confirmed in this thread. In the same thread it is noted that in the new source AP will be added automatically until job advance or level 11 which may mess with the ability of Islanders and Campers to make custom builds. - Following the confirmation that campers were coming to MapleRoyals IslandSlut created a guild, Campers to be ready for their release. August 2015 Spoiler - On August 26th IslandSlut created a new camper rankings icon to replace the old proposed one. - On August 27 IslandSlut announced a 1 month long forum poll to decide the fate of the camper rankings icon. September 2015 Spoiler - At the beginning of September the open beta testing of the new source began. The thread announcing the details is here. You should report any bugs found in this forum. Upon release there were the following bugs associated with campers and islanders: Spoiler - Can only see other people's apple suits and character info windows don't show it either. - Can warp to the FM from Camp and Maple Island. (This was later officially addressed and fixed, but some found they were able to warp to the FM anyways, GMs helped warp them back to where they belong) - Training Camp monsters only stand and walk on the spot, and cannot actually be killed leaving one of the quests not completable and making it impossible to train Campers or check exp p/h at the time. - Pretty much all beginner skills are bugged in some way. - The Training Camp and Maple Island are permanently stuck on 1x exp. - Dying in Mu Lung Dojo and clicking respawn sends you to the Maple Training Camp. - Rufus the pet food NPC has no dialogue. - Crates on island aren't dropping the quest items necessary to complete Pio's Recycling quest. - Some characters lost their hair. - All Maple Bandana Reds have been changed to a level 30 one-of-a-kind untradeable version and all Beginner's Guides have changed into a different version. - Various glitches with equipping weapons that affected warriors, beginners and islanders more than others: Spoiler Trying to equip a spear, polearm, or (presumably) 2h sword, while wearing a shield and 1h weapon seems to only unequip your shield and not your main one-handed weapon. Equipping a shield while holding a polearm, spear or (presumably) 2h sword causes the weapon to be unequipped but the shield remains unequipped. Following this it seems equipping another polearm or spear will cause only the shield to be equipped for some reason. You can find ways to do this that allow you to weild a 2-h weapon and shield at once. Definitely some funky stuff going on here. Unequipping things from the equipment screen with a double click seems to not work at all. Your character then appears to be bugged until relog after messing around with this. Some new features that were relevant to Campers and Islanders: Spoiler - The amount of experience required to level as well as the amount of experience granted by monsters has been dramatically decreased, but server rates have made it so that leveling rates will remain similar, especially in higher levels. - AP is automatically added into STR until job advance or level 11. (Can we make it so you get a full stat reset upon hitting level 11?) - The Three Snails skill no longer uses the appropriate shells as ammo. Matt said this is being changed. - The Metal Wand, obtainable on Maple Island, and previously equippable by beginners, is no longer equipable by them. RIP Magelanders. (Can we see this changed back? Magelanders were a big part of island nostalgia. I believe it would only take a .wz edit and quick change to common class.) - Meso pick-ups show in your chat bar for some reason. - Beginning snail map portals seem to be functioning correctly for once. - On September 2nd an update for the closed beta was released which addressed some camper / islander concerns. - On September 3rd a forum moderator named Andreas mistakenly reported beginners lack of losing exp upon death as a bug. - Somehow a Camper with the IGN Flan was able to achieve level 15 before the camp monsters were fixed? - On September 5th a group of islanders met up in the Open Source Beta Training Camp and hung out / trained for a while in light of the fix to camp monsters. - On September 5th an update for the closed beta was released which addressed some camper / islander concerns. - On September 5th, following a fix of Training Camp monsters in the New Source Beta I calculated some exp p/h and time to level stats regarding the Training Camp. They can be found in the Camper Grinding Guide section. - On September 6th islander WatIsHarbor finally decided he misjudged campers. - On September 6th islander Basically reported that you could turn in Todd's How To Hunt quest over and over to accumulate tons of experience, which also gave us insight into what the true rates of the open beta are: 3.2x. - On September 8th an update for the closed beta was released which addressed some camper / islander concerns. - On September 9th the glitch list for the new source open beta was as follows: Spoiler - Can only see other people's apple suits and character info windows don't show it either. - I'm getting conflicting reports of some islanders being able to and others not being able to warp to the FM from the Training Camp and Maple Island. - Training Camp quests are dysfunctional. Basically reported that in the Training Camp you could turn in Todd's How To Hunt quest over and over to accumulate tons of experience, is this an unintended side effect of what you did the quests in the recent update? - Pretty much all beginner skills are bugged in some way, the fix to the three snails skill is not working. - Dying in Mu Lung Dojo and clicking respawn sends you to the Maple Training Camp. - Various Maple Island NPCs have nothing to say. - Crates on island aren't dropping the quest items necessary to complete Pio's Recycling quest. - Some characters lost their hair. - All Maple Bandana Reds have been changed to a level 30 one-of-a-kind untradeable version and all Beginner's Guides have changed into a different version. - On September 9th a Setup / Client / WZ update for the closed beta was released which addressed some camper / islander concerns. Matt lamented that so much had been changed that it wasn't worth downloading individual files, hence why the download is an entirely new installer. - On September 10th IslandSlut asked for some opinions and created a Camper / Islander New Source Wishlist which also included a poll to decide islander opinion on a particular conception of an islander boss. Within the day Karven made a forum post confirming that the system that automatically adds AP is going to be removed upon next patch. - On September 13th an update for the closed beta was released that addressed some camper / islander concerns. - On September 14th WatisHarbor revealed that he used a repeatable quest turn-in glitch to level his camper to 31 in the new source open beta, leaving him in 1st place among known beta campers. - On September 20th a Setup / Client / WZ update for the closed beta was released which addressed some camper / islander concerns including officially removing the much lamented Auto-AP system. - On September 23rd islander lolzor brought attention to the fact that the upcoming September 30th update correlates to the time of last years Halloween event.Could we be witnessing the return of events to MapleRoyals? Update: It seems Admins and GMs are liking posts in the update thread which are Halloween related. Maybe there's hope. - On September 25th lilaznpunk created a bug report thread relating to the new source open beta noting that the unwanted Auto-AP system still hasn't been entirely remedied. - On September 27th the month long poll to determine islander attitudes towards two different potential camper rankings icons concluded with most islanders in favor of the camper-looking person icon. January 2017 Spoiler - New source was released, as predictably buggy and laggy as ever, but we finally got a working training camp, bringing the subclass of Campers to MapleRoyals! A poll is being held in the main thread to vote on the potential camper rankings icon. Please only vote if you plan to make a camper, thanks!
Only one question... 4 exp per mob would be a pain, so like 30 lvl will be godly ? lmao How many 54 lvl will take... I don't have enough powah to get that on island, so what will be in dis camp ;_;
12hr more. Will someone try Campers with me in beta server ? I wanna test EXP in party and that i can go to CS in camp, and overall = that i will like it or na, maybe i will find som1 of u guyz.
Now that the camp monsters are fixed I've updated the camper training guide with exp per hours and time to levels. Check it out.
PSA: Todd's How-To-Hunt cannot be fully completed. Every time you talk to him you get the experience award but the quest does not go away. Therefore, I abused the quest to 11 to see if campers get bonus experience (we get 3x exp). It only took a couple of minutes to get to level 20 using this bug.
