just before i ask for help some background to make answers better: i played GMS from age 5-8~ then in the last 2 years i played extaliaMS and ElliniaMS (always played as bish execpt ellinia which i played as bish but also DA), now im here. i know everything there is about maplestory execpt things related to this server and thing i just dont remmember or never understood. here is the list of things i want you to explain to me: mule HP washing (and washing in general) why there are a lot of spearmans and bishops nut barely fire/posion mages? if im a mage - how do i find out how much LUK i need? how can i get meso in this server other than farming? is there anything that is unique to this server that i need to know about? is there anything that i should have done before reaching level 25 that is permenant and there is not way of fixing other than create a new character? In addition to those thing i want you to help me with my build: im a level 25 mage with 35 LUK (never washed or something)... i know how to level up my skills but not my stats. what equipment should i get in each level? when do i need to wash? what are good ways to level up? what are good ways to get mesos? im adding a pole about the job you think i should get because im not sure what i want... (feel free to explain your choice) thank you so much for any answer! you are helping me get into the cummunity...
A mule is a character you have on a separate account. These characters have many purposes. Storage mules are used as extra inventory space for things like scrolls or ores. Meso mules are used to hold extra meso either in inventory or in storage or in Frederick. Shop mules are used to set up extra shops and/or positioned in FM rooms to snipe good FM spots after server checks. Buff mules (HS, SE, SI, Echo, HB, Haste, Meso Up are most common). Function mules (sed mules in HT). If you’re going to make a mule for its buff utility, I recommend making an HS mule, an SE mule if you main a NL, and SI mule if you main a warrior class or want to farm gobies on a mage. If you hit 200, strongly consider getting that SI mule TL as well. You shouldn’t need meso mules since you can just buy White Scrolls and Chaos Scrolls at 300m each when you need to store excess meso. These two items are liquid, so you can sell the and get pure meso very easily. Shop mules are useful for getting good FM spots, but they’re not necessary. Function mules aren’t necessary, but they can be helpful. HP washing is a game mechanism by which you purposely get extra MP by leveling up while having large amounts of int (either base in or int on gear, referred to int gear) in order to get extra HP. AP Resets allow you to put one AP in HP and take the same AP from MP to put back in your actual stat. So you still end up with the AP in the stat you want, but you have more HP in exchange for less MP. HP washing is not required on this server, but it’s highly, highly recommended. To HT without HB, you need 9.1k HP clean. To learn more about HP washing, see here: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/fully-revised-hp-washing-guide.8286/. Bishops are the most popular class on this server. They’re both the easiest class to level and the richest class to main. After reaching the level at which they can train at GS1, GS5, an GS2, they spam heal without ever being hit or using a potion until level 75 which is when they’re able to leech their way to 120 and get Genesis. After getting Genesis, they can sell leech for 45m to 40m an hour, up to 65m to 60m an hour when they 1 hit skeles. Bishops are also taken on boss runs and are entitled to splits, or the equal money paid to everyone contributing to killing a boss in a boss run. Bishops can also farm meso for 80m an hour at Gobies, assuming they have SI and 1 hit the mobs in the map. And they can also summon farm for things like Heartstoppers, Lucky Charms, and Soiled Rags when you’re semi afk. There are more heroes than DrKs. Zerking at some bosses like HT takes considerable concentration. The most attention requiring classes at boss runs are corsairs, DrKs, MM, buccs, bishops, BM, heroes, and NLs. Paladins, AMs, and shadowers are rarely ever taken on bossing runs. So in order of most common to least common classes, I’d think it’s bishops, NLs, heroes, BMs, ILs, FPs, DrKs, corsairs, shadowers, paladins. If you’re a mage, you keep your luk at 4. Lukless mages are always stronger than luk mages. Assuming both with perfect gear, lukless mages are stronger by 4 magic. In the beginning, you should sell AP Resets for 8m to 9m each. You can also try selling Teleport Rocks for 1m to 2m each or Safety Charms for 3m each, but these don’t sell as fast. All of these items are available in the Cash Shop. After you hit level 50, you can buy Gachapon Tickets and gach. To see where you should gach, see here: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/where-is-the-best-gachaphon.69465/#post-360921. If you’re a fourth job mage, you can also sell leech. To see common maps and get an idea of where you might want to buy leech or leech yourself at, see here: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/leech-advice.71902/#post-373043. You can also merch, buying low and selling high, but most people just go bossing for money. If a valuable item like Gen 20 drops from Zak, everyone who contributed to killing the boss in the run gets an equal share of whatever the valuable item later sells at. So if Gen 20 sold for 900m and there was a bishop, BM, and NL in the Zak party, they each get 300m. As far as unique things, I honestly couldn’t write them all here. If you have specific questions, I can answer them, but the most important thing about this server is how wonderful the community is. Perhaps not at the early levels, but at endgame, you realize everyone knows everyone and you see how much fun it is making friends and getting in on stupid inside jokes. Oh, actually, make sure you understand mapowner. See my post here: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/map-ownership.72126/#post-373681. If you don’t like your first job class or your characters' gender, you have to remake. But other than that, everything is reversible. Here’s a bishop guide: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/bellas-bishop-guide.2997/. Here’s an IL guide: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/the-best-ice-lightning-guide-there-was-is-and-ever-will-be.51505/. Here’s a FP guide: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/the-best-fire-poison-guide-there-was-is-and-ever-will-be.27168/. Follow the equip suggestions in GoodDoodoo’s and PalmTree’s guides. You don’t need to HP wash a mage. For training spots, see the guides linked above. Ways of getting meso was already addressed above. You should play whatever class you find fun. As far as the different mage classes, see my posts here: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/suggestion-balancing-the-magician-class.67970/page-2#post-353370 and here: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/about-ice-mage.68935/#post-358982
AMAZING!!!!! thank you! just one question: I decieded to go Ice mage LUKless... i understood the equipment i need to eventually achive BUT - if i dont have LUK what equipment can i wear untill i get those?
See here! https://royals.ms/forum/threads/hii-i-am-new-halp.73091/#post-377949. For weapons, you'll want to go Maple Staff, Maple Lama Staff, Maple Shine Wand/Maple Wisdom Staff, Elemental Wand 1/Elemental Wand 2, Maple Pyrope Wand/Maple Pyrope Staff, Elemental Wand 5/Elemental Wand 6. Search for an item here: https://royals.ms/library/?page=items&search=elemental wand to see where the item drops from!
thanks a lot but it doesnt they where i can get them from... and what about hats and other equipments... what should i get if i got no LUK??
tho i think ice/lightning mage would be a good choice and i have my reasons why. bishop's genesis 20 and 30 are very expensive like at least 900m and 1.3b (somewhere that). you wouldn't be able to afford all these. and ice lightning mage has elemental wand benefits and also, a priest does not have elemental amplification. as for ice/lightning mage, blizzard 20 and blizzard 30 are only about 15m and 550m (somewhere too). you do not have to spend that much to be able to 1 hit at ulu 1. besides, you can self train at ulus around 85~90 with maxed Ice Strike and Elemental Amplification. before that, you have Thunder Bolt(2nd job skill) to grind easily. it's much easier comparing to many other jobs. speaking of my 1 week experience of this job(i'm new to this server too), you can find free HS-er at leech maps like ulu 1. you don't have to worry about not having a HS on your Ice/lightning as a main, you can always create HS mule as this server allows multi-clients. it's not hard to train one when you already have an Ice/lightning as a main. all the statements above are just my 2 cents, you don't have to rush yourself as a bishop as a main. without book 2 genesis and a lot funds when you reach 120~130, your genesis is probably gonna only 2~3 hits at monsters like Wolf Spiders or Ulu 1/2 monsters. but you still can sell leech at other maps like Ghost Ship 2, as many people are looking for low level bishop leech for higher experience gain and the payment is fair enough. but there is also one thing to note, Ghost Ship monsters have very poor drops and Ulu 1/2 have more drops and you can just gain a lot by NPC-ing those equips without even to sell leech, but you can also sell leech for more revenue. hope i helped you a little bit
Thanks a lot although I already decided that enlighten a new side that I haven't thought about and I'm completely full with my choice. Just one request: can you specific where the maps you referred to are? (Ulu1/2?) I'm new and I don't know where they are or what you mean...
Apologies for my late reply. I didn't want to write out a response while the server was down and people on the shoutbox needed help. I was going to reply when the server was back up, but I fell asleep. Hehehe. XD The link I gave you when I first quoted this message contained my recommendations for gear. Your weapon upgrades will be Maple Staff (level 35), Maple Lama Staff (level 43), Maple Shine Wand/Maple Wisdom Staff (level 64), Elemental Wand 1/Elemental Wand 2 (level 70), Maple Pyrope Wand/Maple Pyrope Staff (level 77), Elemental Wand 5/Elemental Wand 6 (level 130). Look up where the item drops from here: https://royals.ms/library/?page=items&search=elemental wand. Type in the item name in the search bar and press enter (don't click the dropdown suggestions since that redirects you to the homepage). You can either buy items in FM or grind mobs that drop that item to farm your own. When you are looking to buy items in FM, purchase an Owl of Minerva from the leftmost FM NPC and type in the item name to get all the results of that item in FM. It'll show you prices, stats, shop name, and shop location of the item, but an Owl of Minerva is a one time use item that costs 3m to purchase. Upgrade your weapon as soon as you hit the level requirements. And as you get the meso, gear up in the following order: 20 int overall (White Doros Robe, Brown Doroness Robe Bathrobe for Men, Bathrobe for Women), 25 TMA earrings (Fallen Leaf Earrings/Single Earring), 15 TMA cape (Purple Gaia Cape), 5 int pendant (Silver Deputy Ring), 7 int shoes (Blue Jewelry Shoes), 15 TMA gloves (Red Marker), 175 TMA wand (Elemental Wand 6/Elemental Wand 5), 25 TMA shield (Maple Shield), and 8 int eye accessory (White Raccoon Mask). Most likely, by the time you're getting into the expensive gear (from gloves onward), you should be fourth job and able to sell leech. This is why I put the wand upgrade before the shield and eye accessory. Also, since you're an IL, you're going to want to buy a Zhelm (level 50 at the earliest) and perhaps a Krex ring (level 70 at the earliest). Zhelms cost 65m-60m and Krex rings are sold as high as 65m to as low as 45m. You'll probably have to smega for a Krex ring; Krex ring sellers are pretty rare, but people will definitely sell one to you if you ask. You can upgrade your pendant with an HTP (level 80 at the earliest), and VIP HTP service (all HTPs and egg) is 800m and regular HTP service (one HTP and egg) is 600m. Note that you can only egg an HTP once per character. Sorry for not understanding you at first. XD I fixed it when I saw your clarification. I explained gear above, but it's worth noting that you're going to gear up slowly. So your hat will be a Zhelm, but if you're not level 50 or you don't have the meso to buy one, you're not going to have a hat. I think you're asking what hat you can have right now, one you can have until you get a Zhelm. But there isn't any. There are Green Bandanas (level 10 requirement) with 20 int, but those cost 200m. So it's better to go hatless until you get your Zhelm which is both cheaper and has better stats (scrolled). Don't worry about not having a hat and such yet. You'll get them eventually! Ulu 1 and ulu 2 are maps in Singapore. Ulu 1: http://bbb.hidden-street.net/map/mini-map/singapore-ulu-estate-i. Ulu 2: http://bbb.hidden-street.net/map/mini-map/singapore-ulu-estate-ii.
Again - thanks a lot. (Especially on the gearing order - I will use that) Few more questions though: What the heck is TMA? What the heck is HTP? I still don't get what things I should buy and what things to get by myself... I know that elemental weapons can only be bought so that easy... Maple weapons are easy to get they drop from monster but all the rest of the stuff? By everything? And let's say I have enough to buy the next thing on your list - but I can also by elemental wand 6... What is more important?
TMA is "Total Magic Attack" meaning the combination of magic attack & INT on an equip. Since they give the same bonus to mages, you add them together to get "TMA" HTP is a Horntail Pendant.
TMA stands for total magic attack. If an earring has 5 int and 10 magic, it's a 15 TMA earring. As a mage, you don't really care how much int versus magic you have on an equip. Only the total magic attack (TMA) matters. HTP stands for Horntail Pendant, but the actual item name is Horned Tail Necklace. It's a level 120 pendant that has clean stats as low as 6 or as high as 13. The egg is used for this quest: http://bbb.hidden-street.net/quest/leafre/the-missing-hero. The item you receive from this quest, the Dragon Stone, can be used as a scroll for the HTP, giving it +15 all stats. So an egged HTP has stats as low as 21 to as hit as 28. But again, you can only egg an HTP once per character, and the egg can only be used on the first slot. You cannot chaos HTPs before egging, but since an HTP has three slots, you can chaos an HTP twice after egging. I would hunt for the weapons you need (except the ele wands, since those are gach only) and buy everything else. If you want, you could try scrolling your own gear, but I'd recommend just using owls to search in FM or reading through the selling forum to see what people are selling. Only buy the next weapon when you reach the level requirement. If you have money to upgrade more gear while you're still not at the level to upgrade your weapon, work on the rest of your gear (overall, then earrings, etc.)
2 more question... 1. I can buy the bathrobe right now from the NPC, but in won't be 20 int - should I? From I understood I should buy that robe already 20 int from the GM. Is this correct? 2. Sorry to bother but I have no idea what chaos scrolls are. I know everything about normal scrolls but thats it... Can you link a guide or something? Just to make sure I understood - farm the easy to get weapons... Then buy the rest - already scrolled.. (which is easy cause I calculated how much days it would take me to get enough NX to sell to get a lot of me so and it's going pretty fast...) Right?
From the GM? o-o If you buy the bathrobe from the NPC, it will have 0 int, 10 speed, and 10 slots. The bathrobe from the NPC doesn't benefit you unless you scroll it. I'd just buy an already scrolled bathrobe from a shop in FM. Chaos Scrolls have a 60% success rate if you use them on an item. But if a Chaos Scroll works, every stat on the item it was used on will change as low as -5 to as high as +5. So let's say you had a 10 attack PGC and you used a Chaos Scroll on it and it worked. You'll end up with a PGC with an att as low as 5 to as high as 15. So you might have a 3 att PGC or a 12 att PGC. Or even a 10 att PGC. When a Chaos Scroll works, it can also give your item's stat a 0 change. Yup! Farm the easy to get weapons. And buy the rest of your gear already scrolled.
