In previous threads, it has been mentioned that Buccs cannot hit horntail's arms while super transformation is down (spam ds?). I don't remember the thread link right now, but here are some of the suggestions I remember: It was suggested to give barrage a range increase. This range increase would be quite large compared to the current range, and the vocal opinion in the thread seemed to indicate this would change how bucc feels in situations too much in situations outside of ht. It was suggested to increase the length of the platforms. The current platform length is important to other classes. I believe on of the examples was using rush to get to the edge for warriors? Bucc's have access to the first job skill, double shot. Double shot shoots somewhere around 4.7 hits per second with SI. At 110% damage, this is ~517% per second. This is near double the damage of dragon strike. A bucc's single target dps with knuckle alternating between super trans demo and barrage/ds is ~1280%. It should be noted that knuckles have a higher weapon multiplier (4.8 for knuckles versus 3.6 for guns). Thus, the equivalent gun % damage / second would be around 960% (obviously this isn't directly comparable due to the secondary stat multiplier being 1 for both knuckles and guns, but it provides a suitable estimate). As such, the 517% per second from double shot (while quite bad, especially with bucc being approximately 25% weaker than the midtier dps classes as seen in the graphs in this thread) would represent a little over half the dps of a bucc that is in range of its target for barrage / ds. Obviously double shot would not replace barrage / ds, and is not the optimal skill choice in any situation other than HT arms. The sole exception may be zakum arms for a low level bucc, but if there is no ranged a high level bucc can generally solo the top right arms with demolition and time leap. Furthermore, bucc's will not have the required dex to use concertos/dragon revolvers, and are restricted to maple pyrope shooters (lvl 77 gun). The maximum attack of these guns is 70, which is 14 lower than a concerto, meaning that bucc's will always be sacrificing some weapon attack to use a gun. The current barrier to using double shot for ht arms in the current patch (avoiding broaching the subjects of any double shot buffs for now) is the range formula for guns. For knuckles the primary stat is str and for guns the primary stat is dex. A bucc's range with a gun will be very low due to this. There are two solutions to this: Give a passive multiplier to double shot in bucc's 4th job. I don't like this solution. It seems very broad reaching and adding a skill specifically to solve bucc at HT arms is an inelegant solution. It would also have to be be a large multiplier (such as 5x) to make double shot useable (meaning it is at the point where it is somewhere around 0.6 the dps of barrage / ds), and such a large multiplier would be quite out of place relative to the rest of the skills. Change the damage formula for guns to account for class. I do not know where in the client / what function calculates the damage range, but if this function has access to the character's job, adding an if statement or even an inline ? : section (I don't know what royals is written in) would allow for the primary stat for guns for buccs to be str (keeping the 3.6 multiplier of course) while not changing the formula for sair, which is obviously unacceptable. This is also reminiscent of sindits, where shads would max lucky star in 1st job. I believe that the gun damage formula is the most elegant solution to bucc's not being able to hit ht, and still represents a subpar option by far to barrage / ds in all other situations. Tl;dr: Make the gun damage formula distinguish between sairs and buccs for primary stat, so that buccs can use double shot to hit ht arms.
The question I have, do you really want to be burdened switching weapons during HT? Seems like a lot of hassle for an oversized dragon. Just my 2 cents.
I'd rather switch weapons than go afk every 2 minutes because my only other option is to spam dragon strike which has a delay after using to try and make you use a different skill.
Sorry i don't want my bucc to use any gun weapon when it can punch people's face. No I against this idea!
Was there ever any discussion about that? I only remember seeing the one thread on bucc for ht arms. That would work and be a nice buff putting bucc ~15% below dks, but I was more thinking that the staff would want to restrict the impact of a change specifically to ht arms, which is what made me think of double shot (useless everywhere else as stated in op).
