For quite awhile now, i've been farming at voodoos/leps (aka some of the popular farming spots) on my characters whenever convenient and I have noticed this recurring problem whereby one person holds an absurd amount of maps on different channels. I have searched for threads about multiclienting before posting this but I feel only this thread barely talks about the issue I want to bring up. Personally I have mules of my own, and since this game is basically mulestory, when I see the same person holding 2-3 maps I don't really bat an eye, since that number sits fine with me (and just to clarify, I would also do the same thing) but sometimes it gets a bit ridiculous, like more than 7 (all number comparisons are just my own judgement, take it with a grain of salt), and if you heed to Creeping Evil you can see basically the same name in > 11+ channels (from Runt1 to Runt9, and other names but same guild) and considering that it is a rather popular farming spot and there are only 20 channels, it does get a bit frustrating tbh when all you want is just 1 map out of 20 maps and 11/20 is taken up by just one guy. I will say that for heartstoppers there are a few other maps that drop them (although less efficient) so that is not so bad. Given our rather not-so-big amount of players here, my stance is that we should be considerate of others, and not hold on to that many maps, at least in the popular spots (voodoos/leps/lyka/etc) so others have a chance to use it as well. Recently, I have seen a few complaints coming from new players that many popular farming spots (e.g. Voodoo) are all taken up by many high level mages/bs and having one person hog that many maps only exacerbates the problem. One could argue that maps are on a first come first served basis, and the other players who don't multiclient as much simply have to make do with shittier maps or not farm at all. That's sadly true but I feel it's one of those stuffs where it's a dick move but doesn't break any rules. Of course, there are also considerate older players that often give their available maps to new players so huge respect to them. My purpose of this thread is just to find out if there are actual T&C surrounding this issue (if it is even considered as one) and also to reaffirm if this opinion of mine is shared among others or that everybody is alright with one person hogging on to the map so long they retain mapowner etc. I do understand the practical problem though, as most of the people who do this are easily identifiable (same outfit, same name, etc) but what if they don't do that? And also how many mules in each map before it starts to get a bit overkill? It defers from person to person. etc So yup, apologies for long post, as it has been something that's been on my mind for quite some time now. Would love to hear what you all think, thank you.
Personally, I don't think anything should be done about this. The people making those characters put a large amount of time into leveling their char, advancing, doing the summon quests, etc. If someone has enough time to make 7 mages with 7 summons then they deserve 7 maps, if they can legally claim them. (for the record, i farm on either 1 or 2 channels only)
In response to your second question, personally I have no problem with it. They put in the work to create X amount of characters, so they have earned the right to play on X amount of characters. With that said, I also don't have a problem with KSing, so I believe that even though these people should be allowed to use as many maps as they want, others should be allowed to KS them without staff intervention (only societal repercussions such as being mass defamed, prohibited from joining certain boss runs, prohibited from joining certain guilds, risking getting KS'd in the future, etc.). Just like how it was on gMS.
I do agree that they deserve to play on their multiple characters after having put in the effort to make them. However the issue for me is that summon farming is popular (many people would like to use the map) and the bar for creating a summon mule is not exactly very high in current "meta". You just need a priest or archer at level 79 (maxing the summon skill). Of course you are limited to psycho jacks, leprechauns and what not. However many people have mages where they can self-leech or they can just buy leech or simply pq, and you will have a level 79 character in no time (relatively speaking). I have no problems if someone opens 20 clients and farms on them in a way that will not inconvenience others, but the problem is that in popular maps, doing so would severely limit other player's farming spot, which I feel is very inconsiderate. There is no saying that Runt10 would stop there, one day when Runt1 to Runt20 occupies all 20 channels of leprechaun, then that would be inconvenient for every other lep farmer :O
Then you beat Runt1-20 to the map(s) when the server restarts, or take the map(s) when he goes offline/afk. He can't play 24/7. You have just as much opportunity as he does to get those maps and use them to farm. Whether or not you choose to take advantage of that opportunity is a different story. If making said mules is that easy in this meta, you can just as easily do what he is doing, as can every other player. These farmers don't have any unfair advantage over you or any other players. It's just like if somebody logs in fast and hogs a bunch of FM spots on mules. The playing field is even, you just need to put in the same amount of time/work/effort. If players can't get a map at the current time, they train/farm elsewhere. There is no requirement for them to only train at the most desired maps. Back on gMS not everybody got a Skele map, Himes map, Gobies map, Zombies map, you name it. People would have to settle for less than ideal training/farming locations at times where the ideal ones were all taken. Could you please explain why you believe that players should have immediate and burden free access to the ideal training/farming maps at their convenience?
You are right, I could do that and possibly hog all the maps in place of runt(insert number) but that’s not what I hope to accomplish. I would rather 30 people take 40 channels (assuming 10 ppl duo client) than 2 ppl hold 40 channels. I don’t outright disagree with what you said but I feel that it is on the extreme side and people with excess amt of maps could be more considerate. With no limitation on mule count in such maps and limited number of summon farming maps (which is hugely advocated as methods to earn mesos when you want to relax, side cash, etc), one person hogging most of the maps create inconvenience for so many other players that I hope can be avoided.
I would like to also highlight that extreme multiclienting kills the game experience. Some examples i personally seen are: 1. I have seen a player hogs 11 anegos after a 5hours plus patch/downtime. 2. Hogging FM spots. I have a hardcore TW BL who hogs more than 7 spots in fm1~6 after SC, but least he hogging for his friends (sometimes he offers it to me, yay) 3. OP's post 4. 3-man cwkpq. Like really? I am amazed by their commitment for the prequest.
You don't need that many maps to train 5 to 7 characters, that's why the parties offer a bonus exp to compensate. Of course it doesn't breaks any rules but it is really obnoxious, if the channels of this map is half taken by this 1 player + others who want to train too in these maps. Despite to make it fair, everyone deserves at least 1 channel to train, not more than the quarter of it when you don't really need it.
The idea isn't to train characters, it's to farm the heartstoppers that the mobs drop. If its your goal to train then there are better maps within haunted house to do that. If your goal is to train and make some money, then you can go to zombies and sell equips/teeth. I don't think everyone automatically deserves a map... work for it and find one like everyone else. You think it's hard to find one open map? Try finding 7! .
I agree, but i’m not advocating for anyone to automatically deserve a spot. I’m suggesting that people who multi client shouldn’t overdo it (if there is a t&c), so other people even have a chance to ‘work for it ‘ and find a map. Welfare of many many other players looking for just ONE map > welfare of 1 player who wants to hoard max amt of maps for max profit, in my opinion. Although my issue was about summon farming, I think HuaiEn brings up a good point about hogging boss maps. In your opinion it’s totally fine too and one person can simply hoard most of not all of the channels? Look at the blacklist thread and the drama hogging Lyka causes..
Make 40 afk mules, take all voodoo and lep maps. The problem will be big and staffs may consider changing the rule
The burdens people lay upon themselves playing #MuleStory... Or should I say "working with"? I honestly don't know if it's play or work.
No matter how much you guys try to argue, the only solution to this issue is either 1) remove multiclienting or 2) add new rules to not allow owning multiple maps.
Why not just make the maps that are always being hogged for summon farming instanced with a mini dungeon like newts and skele?
remove multiclienting and let see if pro can still upgrade their attack gear edit : then again they wouldn't want to remove multi clienting because they wouldn't have a passive money making method beside selling leech which is why multiclienting wont be removed.
Brilliant idea (if it is even doable though), never thought of that but this would basically be a win-win for people who go hardcore on multiclient and people who just want 1 map to chill. Everybody wins!
Um... I thought he meant it as a joke. @akash did I completely misunderstand your post? So if you guys are actually serious about this, let me add : Increasing the number of "farmland" (maps or channels) will play funny games with the economy. Larger supply of goods, same amount of players. Same people who'll likely farm (don't come tell me that this gives the "new players a chance", all it does is giving greater power to the already powerful.) Well you can probably solve that equation on your own...
