I think it would be nice to add the Mu Lung Dojo Board NPC to common and popular towns like Henesys and Ludi because it would allow for easier access. It would be a lot more convenient than travelling all the way to Mu Lung just for a couple round of dojo. This might even increase the number of players that participate in Mu Lung Dojo. Just a thought, what do yall think?

+This apply to HT,Papu,APQ,Zak~ All different regions yet people still go there
+No reason to make dojo the only special case just because of the lower player count
+Surely people who are interested would be able to use a vip rock / fast travel especially higher levels

I personally don't like the idea of making things accessible from anywhere. Teleport rocks and fast travel tickets are already dirt cheap and take away from the feeling of distance between the continents. If I were in charge, I would do the exact opposite and raise the price of fast travel and teleport rocks. Besides, the dojo is Mu Lung themed and it doesn't make much sense to exist elsewhere. Traveling is part of the game and in the extreme example where players could teleport anywhere, you would be making a lot of content redundant and useless. For example: Eos Tower, Cave of Trial, Ant Tunnel and so on.

I'm not upset over anything, it is just a game after all. I simply enjoy it more when I have to travel to less populated areas. Your example of there being a lot of players that hang out in Henesys and Kerning is the very reason why I think the other locations in the game should serve a purpose. If you have fast travel for everything, no one would ever have to leave Victoria. Besides, I find it enjoyable to run into others along the way and make friends. It kind of takes away from the social aspect of the game when you're constantly surrounded by other players. By giving players a reason to travel, you can often run into other players running the same content as you and make friends you wouldn't have otherwise made. Making friends was one of the things I liked the most about taking the Orbis ship in GMS.

Is there anything wrong with what I said? When you're in a PQ lobby it's impossible to even read anything on the screen. Who is going to have a conversation there? How many meaningful conversations do you have in RL when you're at the club?

Have you been to kerning ch1 lately? This is a private server, not gms, i can count players that are actually there and not afk with one hand. Also, i rarely see anyone in ch1 dojo, you won't get much "random social interactions" as things stand.
As far as things go, dojo in kerning is technically nostalgic. And considering that the starting lvl of dojo is low, having it closer to lower lvl areas makes sense.
Cpq and ariant pq are accessable from more maps than their home place, no reason to not help out newer players access pq content early. You say travel is cheap, but you clearly forgot how dirty poor you were when you first started, and how much it mattered to save up meso.
While 4th job players dont need such an npc in kerning, newer players actually do.

I think the least we can do is let the Fast Travel ticket work for the Mu Lung <—> Orbis ride. Traveling around continents with the ticket is wonderfully easy, but for some reason that minute-long trip still exists and is somewhat of a barrier to dojo participation. Not a major one (the biggest barrier for me is how horrifically boring it is to solo) but it might help a little.

I go there frequently. There's always players there. When was the last time you saw a player on the orbis ship?
I don't get it. If you don't see any players there, why is it suddenly such a necessity for us to be able to teleport there instantly? Just adding a fast teleport to content isn't going to make the content more popular. We already have VIP rocks and fast travel.
First of all, I don't see how dojo in Kerning is nostalgic. I would argue that most people that play nostalgic servers don't even see the dojo itself as nostalgic. That's not the point of the discussion, though. Why do we need an instant travel to everything in the game? It's already very easy to get around.
I did not forget how "dirty poor" I was because fast travel is a luxury that not every player should be able to afford. If it wasn't for the fact that no one is ever on the ship because fast travel has killed it, I would gladly take the ship. I don't think there is anyone on the server who cannot afford the few thousand mesos it costs to board a ship.
I fail to see why anyone needs this, especially low levels. Why would a low level want to do dojo? If a low level wants to waste their time with dojo when they can barely clear anything, then they can surely also wait for the ship. Higher leveled players don't need a warp.

Fast travel is already generous enough. We don't need a fast fast travel. I don't really understand why everyone is in such a rush. If it's too hard to go to an area in the game to do content specific to that area, then don't do it. There's plenty of content for you already in other areas.

I support having more Dojo boards be placed in other locations, making it more accessible to more players. I hope the staff team could at least considered placing them at the same location where Mr Spiegelmann can be found. (Orbis, Ludibrium, Kerning City)

Firstly, I feel this justification is flawed and condescending towards lower level players, Dojo is open to anyone level 25 and above. Many players would know is best to start Dojo as early as possible due to the difficulty and tedious nature in accumulating points. I have curated a list below of bosses you can find in Dojo, as you can see a significant number of bosses is very doable even for players who haven't even completed their 3rd job advancement. So is false for you to say players shouldn't even try because it is a waste of time and they can barely clear anything at all. Plus, is encouraged and more efficient to challenge Dojo within a party, why not making it more accessible so players from different parts of the world can easily meet up and challenge it?

Nobody here is advocating for a "fast fast travel'', this change will primarily make 1 content of the game more accessible for everyone. Besides, I think your issues is with how teleporting rocks and fast travel is being implemented, and how it reduces the opportunity of interaction with players during travels. I doubt by making more boards will severely affect players from making friends from travels or other ways.

Furthermore, the existing chance to just to meet another player travelling to Mu Lung is already slim, as it is a limited training ground with monsters ranging from level 50 to about level 70 and there are no major bosses around the area. If you recall, there is no other transportation to Mu Lung/ Herb Town that has a holding area like the ships or subway that allows you to wait and interact with other players. So why not use Dojo as another platform to bond with other players?

Did you forget about the Orbis ship? This is not a fair argument to make when my point is that fast travel should not exist in its current state. If your argument is that we can add more fast travel options because other fast travel options already exist, then where is it going to end? If this request is approved, I can guarantee you someone else is going to ask for a fast travel to another location. And then another. So when do you stop? We might as well say screw nostalgia at that point and just have an NPC that teleports you anywhere in the game.

What? I think you're missing the fact that they are the exactly the same topic. Besides, it's only one of the many points I've made against this idea. You can read the others in my previous posts.

Ease of access is heavily promoted in newer versions of Maplestory and I don't think it's healthy for this style of game. For a casual or a mobile game, sure. Not for an RPG. How great would Lord of the Rings be if Frodo just teleported inside of Mordor? That would completely eliminate any suspension of belief. A fantasy role-playing game like Maplestory deserves to retain some of these essential elements. I understand that this is an extreme example, but the whole point which you seem to be missing is that once an exception is made, it paves the way for more radical changes that can greatly affect the experience in a negative way. I feel like some of these changes have already been made here and I want to voice my support for maintaining the integrity and difficulty of the game in any future updates.

Change the game entirely by modifying classes/skills and changing the DPS hierarchy/broad imbalances of power? Wooo yeah forget nostalgia let’s do it!!! Fairness and balancing wooo!! *no comments on how it’ll open the gate to more changes*

Add a dojo board into more towns to encourage recruitment inside of the dojo hall the same way it was back in the day? NO CANT CHANGE IT DIS GAME ALL ABOUT NOSTALGIA IT WUD OPEN DA GATE TO MORE CHANGES

Can’t pick and choose ya snowflakes. Either you’re in favor of keeping things nostalgic or you aren’t. You can’t just choose when to apply it based on what you like personally.

It's not about nostalgia, though. What is nostalgic for one person greatly differs from what is considered nostalgic to another person. Did anyone here say they would like to play the old Maplestory exactly the way it was? I know I wouldn't and that's what I consider to be the most nostalgic.

It wasn't like that "back in the day" for me. There was no dojo at all "back in the day". There's wasn't even a 4th job. My "back in the day" is much different from yours. So arguing that any points against this feature are for the sake of nostalgia just shows a lack of understanding. If I wanted the server to be the most nostalgic possible, I would be asking for them to remove pretty much everything past 3rd job.

I'm absolutely for new content if it does not hurt the integrity of the game. In fact, I love the new content and would like to have a lot more cool stuff. I do not like making the game easier for the sake of making it easier. If you want to play an easier game, there are higher rate servers you can play with fast travel everywhere in the game and you don't have to complain about these features here.

According to the dude above you it is! "Traveling is the whole point of nostaglic. this game is created for nostaglic memories"

Uh, 'back in the day' implies back in the version of gMS which this game is based off of, and that is not something which can 'differ by person'. It is set in stone, the game was how it was and personal views do not impact this.

You are misunderstanding the concept of nostalgia here, and it is based on the version of gMS that this server is running. If your nostalgic memories of this version differ from that of which I have mentioned, by all means provide examples of where it differs with video/screenshot examples if possible (it won't, though, because you're talking about a completely different version of the game which is irrelevant to this discussion).

Yeah, just like your suggestion to make clock tower easier to go through. You're sure against that, right? Can't pick and choose. "Make it easier to go through clock tower so that more people utilize it!" ... "but don't make it easier to go to dojo so that more people utilize it"

Funny, when I told people that certain class imbalances and the DPS hierarchy were a 'part of this version of the game and to go play a different version if you seek a different set of balancing' the same person above was telling me how that's not a valid argument and I'm wrong for bringing it up lmao (even though he was wrong like he always is).

edit: wait, are you the same Kaeru who used to shit post on another private server with the initials M D? If so, no wonder lol

You: "I suggest you add some warps to make movement around the map easier"

Also you: "I do not like making the game easier"

you realized that you can pay 3m for 24 hour travel pass that lets u walk from victoria island to mu lung in less than 3 minute. 3minute... you can get 3m easily by selling ap resets / nx free from voting.
there are challenges to completeing an object. you are proposing for this change because you are lazy to go there. correct me if i am wrong.
the belt gives a very good stats or infact called a end game item. im sure everyone will be doing it anyway regardless of having to travel not.
people who support this discussion just want an easy way out
and what about ludi pq? travelling to ludi pq is same distance to mu
lung dojo. i have never heard anyone say add ludi pq to towns in my 5 years of playing

I didn't like his post because I agreed with everything in it. I liked it because he understands the logic behind why this feature is a bad idea in the first place. I don't care about the fact that traveling is "nostalgic" and that's not why I brought it up. I talked about the negative effects that fast travel has on the game and based on what you're saying I'm not even sure if you've read my posts.

I did not post anything about a fast warp to Ludibrium. I suggested something that would make certain maps viable because no one ever visits them. I don't know when you've last played, but dojo obviously does not suffer from this problem. It is viable enough without a fast travel.

I also don't understand your point about game versions because the version of any server is subject to change. It already did here once. So you're saying, if you are nostalgic about a different version, you have no right to voice that and the developers should be able to change versions whenever they wish? If that's your point, it's not a very good one because most of this community would rather we not add potential cubes and other things that are found in newer versions of the game. If it's the general consensus here that we should change to a newer source, I will happily leave and play another game. There is no sense with arguing against the popular vote.

You are wrong, and almost everything you said is incomprehensible as usual.

I use VIP rocks to go everywhere and have no problem doing so. I don't need any taxis, boards, or whatever to get to any towns.

Not sure what language that second sentence is supposed to be in.

Cool, Dojo gives a belt, what does that have to do with encouraging recruitment inside of the Dojo hall the same way it was in this version of gMS?

I don't recall posting in support of this suggestion, care to cite where I did? Go on, I'll wait.

Ludi PQ is a different PQ. If you would like to make a suggestion for Ludi PQ, then make it (but actually type like a normal person when making the suggestion, none of this flimflam please).

I was initially replying to Carney, not you, hence why my post is directly below his. You just decided to respond to it for some weird reason. He has been in favor of balancing/class changes and argued against 'nostalgia' as a supporting reasoning for not changing the skills/classes, but made a post in here claiming that 'travel is nostalgic so it should stay'. I was pointing out his inconsistency. "traveling is the whole point of nostaglic. this game is created for nostaglic memories" as his basis for denying on suggestion, while saying that nostalgia isn't a valid reason for not changing and balancing the classes... yeah, I'm pretty sure even you can say that's quite an inconsistent stance.

You posted about making travel inside of the clock tower easier.

You: "I suggest you add some warps to make movement around the map easier"

Also you: "I do not like making the game easier"

Dojo has an active player base inside of the hall seeking recruitment? I don't think so.

I am saying that when discussing nostalgia in this context it is in reference to the version(s) of the game the server you are playing on has been based off of. It's like Billy saying that post big bang shit is nostalgic to him, yeah, cool Billy, but that means nothing on a server based on an entirely different version. That would matter if he were playing a big bang server seeking to make changes, but it doesn't on a pre-big bang server. Now, in v62-83 (this server), something like..NL being the top DPS and mages being the top farmers is a nostalgic concept, but something like every class being balanced is not a nostalgic concept. Similarly, say, grinding at Zombies to 100 isn't a nostalgic feature for a v62-83 server, but it would be in say...a v30 server.

If you think that adding warps inside the clock tower is making the game easier then I'm not sure we're talking about the same game. There is a difference between making content viable and making content "easier". I replied to your post because you're blatantly wrong, not because I thought you were targeting me in particular.

If you don't understand my usage of the word "viable", that's your problem. It has a clearly understood meaning. And your argument about server versions still doesn't make sense. If Billy had been playing a v30 server and then it changed to a v62 server, would Billy not have the right to complain? I don't understand what you're going on about.

I played the old source here more than the new source. Do you see me complaining about the new source? And if I did, would you just tell me to screw off because you prefer it? Anyone should be open to opinions on which features should be implemented in the game. I personally don't care about keeping everything from one version, like you seem to. I care more about what the community wants as a whole.
