To clarify, for both the solo and group categories, participants are allowed to submit multiple screenshots (more than one). However, the screenshots should be coherent and contribute meaningfully to the overall story flow. We deeply value every submission in this forum event and will carefully consider all aspects of each entry - including the number of participants involved and the relevance + quality of the screenshots provided.
Either format is perfectly fine - whether you submit separate photos or combine them into a collage depends on the presentation style you’re aiming for. Personally, I see a memory gallery as something made up of separate screenshots, while a collage tends to be a single image showcasing various scenes together. We don’t intend to restrict players’ creativity for this event, so feel free to choose the format that best represents your story. Just a final reminder: quality over quantity. Having a lot of screenshots doesn’t necessarily make an entry better than one with just a few, make every image count.
IGN(s): xLust Category: Creative Concept (optional): My MapleRoyals Journey So Far. My story begins in late 2017 after having taken a lengthy break from maple related content. I'm not exactly sure how but I managed to stumble across an old content creator who produced content of this server and decided to give it try. Unfortunately, during my first stint on the server I found myself burning out relatively quickly and simply chalked it up to the current state of the game. Looking back on my first play through I realize that the truly enjoyable moments I cherished have come mostly from the social aspect of the game and accordingly started a guild with that concept in mind. This submission is just a way for me to thank every friend I've had the privilege of playing with as well as remind others that its okay to progress at a slower rate than what is deemed efficient because you will honestly get there in the end through continued playtime anyway.

I would give every new adventurer a pair of Work Gloves that I have made, helping them embark on their own adventure and write their own stories. From humble beginnings in 2019 to a farewell in 2024 - My journey was made of 4 "Pillars" of Memories: Friends - Family (Guild) - Community - Personal Goals. They all blended together to form an experience I will always cherish. Credit All of this was drawn via commission by the incredibly talented June-ArtCraft. Designed by myself with screenshots, very terrible MS Paint sketches , and the assistance of others pictured to help craft the perfect story re-telling. Over 2 1/2 yrs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Each memory has its own story that deserves to be told, however I will highlight just one from each "Pillar". These are denoted by a black star . Friends It all started with Palpatus runs with @Nostalgic_Snail (Cho) . I was still washing at the time and needed a hero.. a carry! He stepped forward selflessly to help me and our friendship continued to grow from there. What followed was countless bossing experiences all across Maplestory, we scuffed quite a few, but we had fun and share quite a few laughs. We even met IRL and shared even more. Without Royals, our paths would have never crossed in life. Community The addition of Von Leon brought forth community runs and new people together for a common goal. As part of "YAVS " I obtained my first Von Leon Clear, but my most memorable run with them was to follow. A routine run turned into a heart-stopping last second effort to defeat VL before time expired. As the clocked ticked down beneath 1 minute, people began yelling and chaos ensued. @caselead (Dennis) kept his cool -the silent killer he was. Quite memorable and surprising for the intensity of the situation. With just 1 second left, the lion king fell to our collective effort. Loot exploded into the sky, but never hit the ground - as we were kicked out by the timer. Later, a GM would rewarp us and we would receive the loot! Personal Goals Nostalgia is a hell of a drug, and it drove me to chase something I couldn't achieve in my childhood adventures. Level 200, the pinnacle of the game. It took nearly 4 years, through multiple (in-denial) retirements. Up in the Skys of the Amoria Clouds, I achieved this goal surrounded by those who had helped me get there! Family (Guild) (Disclaimer: this is my FAVORITE MEMORY of my whole journey, so apologies for the yapping) As the snow fell and the Happyville: White Christmas BGM played it marked the start of the 2023 Royals Christmas! It's the most nostalgic time for me. Also with an event I had my eyes set on. The Guild Snow Collection Event. In 2022, the year prior, I had become a Snow Champion with Tenacity who finished #1, placing 3rd in guild member contribution at roughly 130k~ Nevermelting Snow donated. (Also An artwork panel - 2nd row, 4th column) With this experience under my wings, I set off to try again. This time with Cloudy , a guild I had been with since 2019 and that I recently had become a Junior of. The guild I considered my family and home. I would be the leader of this effort, or moreso as guildies would come to call me "Snow Leader". I formed my "Snow Squad" a dedicated group of guildies who went above and beyond to put their time and effort into our ultimate goal : #1 on the leaderboard Three of them were, among six total: @Sliu -Sally : the "Snow Fairy" - A graphic design GOD who was working her magic throughout the event, in many ways. From coordination, to outreach and more! @Xion Suet Li -Xion the "Snow Queen" - A hunter with a soul of ice, who destroyed any and all area bosses in her path. Never slept and never gave up! #1 individual snow donator! @InfiniteJest -Carl the "Snow Reaper" - a hunter who lived in the canyon, slaying dragons and other mythical creatures at blinding speed. #2 individual snow donator! Also of course were many members of the guild who were chipping in, which was greatly appreciated! We truly were one family in our chase towards this goal. We started in the lead, but as the event ran its course, 4 different guilds would take first place in a vicious battle to be crowned Snow Champion. Even when it felt hopeless and the difference we had to make up to re-take the lead was enormous, WE NEVER GAVE UP. Day by day we fought and clawed back score as much as we could. It would come down to the final two contenders with the days dwindling until the end of the event. We were trailing close in second with a week left to go. I came up with a "Snow Explosion" as I called it, a sneak attack. The Snowblower will only hold 100k snow before it detonates, and makes announcements in blue text at 20% increments server wide. I collected multiple people holding 10k/20k snow and together all at the same game tick we deposited exactly 100k nevermelting snow, instantly exploding the snowblower and jumping us into 1st place. Most importantly we were the first to pass 1,000,000 million snow, a historic achievement we celebrated! We were set to finish #1 as the clock ticked down to the final minutes of the event than.... BOOM- Matt announced a 15 day extension. The battle continued! Days passed, but the gap between us in score didn't change as both sides kept adding to the total in this overtime battle. Eventually, I met the other Snow Leader and we took a Screenshot together as a sign of mutual respect of the other. We had both put forth a fantastic effort worthy of celebrating. It was an honorable race through and through. Finally in Feb 2024 , the event ended and Cloudy had secured #1 ! We were Snow Champions ! I hoisted the Snow Crown in my hands, surrounded by my family as we celebrated together. I was overjoyed with a smile on my face. Not for myself, but for Cloudy, my home since 2019. I owed a huge debt to all the kind people who offered me guidance and advice throughout the years, ran bosses with me and even supported me on the good and bad days of life. With this I had cemented an achievement no one could take away from us, and returned the investment they had put in me. I could now truly say farewell without regrets and shortly after , I did. Certain visuals have been added to this telling of the story to enhance the dramatic effect. The protagonist "Duck", whose real identity must remain anonymous for safety and legal reasons, will be played by StarWingDuck. Chapter 1 - An Electrifying Encounter It was an ordinary day. A Bishop named Duck was scanning the marketplace for a spot to set up his shop. He's had his eyes on a fancy new pair of shoes for a while so he scurried quickly from room to room hoping to secure a spot in a highly populated area to earn the money to buy them. During his search, he came across a pair of gloves on the floor. And not just any gloves... Stormcaster Gloves! "Is that...?" were the first words out of his mouth. The first thought that came to his mind as he approach them was "They're probably trash!" but as he approached, he started feeling a tingle on the back of his neck. Something told him that these would not be any ordinary pair of Stormcaster Gloves. When he finally picked them up, he realized how right he was. They were 20 Weapon Attack Stormcaster Gloves! "They're beautiful!" he exclaimed! He looked around the room but didn't see anybody else there so he knew they were alone... except for the ever-watchful TimK (played by TimWatchingU) who sees everything and is a master of hiding in the shadows. Duck smiled uncontrollably. He began to feel a level of euphoria that he had never felt in his entire life. And he immediately knew what their name was... "Elektra!" he exclaimed joyfully. "Their name is Elektra!" Chapter 2 - Daydreamland Many would consider the love between a Bishop and Stormcaster Gloves to be unnatural. However, Duck was not worried about what others would think of him. He held Elektra in his arms and immediately began dreaming of their future together. *Opening Dream Sequence with Majestic Harp Music* He imagined them going to the zoo together: He imagined them sharing dessert: He imagined them dancing in the moonlight: He imagined them being in love... forever: *Closing Dream Sequence with Majestic Harp Music* Chapter 3 - A World of Balance As Duck rushed home to tell the world about his new love, he made a realization. He was worried that Elektra may have come from another world and their stay in the MapleRoyals world may be forbidden by higher beings. He put his hands together, got down on his knees and prayed to ask the higher beings if he and Elektra could stay together forever. On some occasions, a response from the higher beings could take days or even weeks. But on this day, Duck received an immediate response: "No!" Heartbroken, Duck was faced with 2 options. On the one hand, he could surrender Elektra to the police to help maintain a peaceful balanced world, even if it meant shattering his own heart. On the other hand, he could live a life forever running away from the higher beings and being forced to deal with the guilt of his sinful act, day after day. Duck wanted nothing more than to be with gloves just like Elektra. "But not like this..." he thought. "Not like this!" Within 30 minutes, Duck surrendered Elektra to the police and wept while looking away as a GM (played by MrPoliceGuy) came to take them. When he finally turned around, everybody was gone and he was all alone again. Though he continued to weep for days afterwards, he sensed that the higher beings were satisfied with his actions, and he would have to make peace with the fact that his good deed was its own reward. Aftermath: None of the players involved in this story were banned. Duck eventually got a pair of 20 Weapon Attack Stormcaster Gloves the right way... But he overpaid, and they weren't as pretty as Elektra. TimK remains, to this day, the ever-vigilant guardian in the server against Real-World Trade. #GiveThatManACookie No screenshot exists proving the identity of the GM who took Elektra away.
Just a quick update - I’ve amended one of the forum event rules to disallow the submission of commissioned works, specifically in the creative category. Original: Incomplete submissions, plagiarism, AI-generated, reused or inappropriate content are all grounds for disqualification at the judges' discretion. Updated: Submissions must be original and created solely by the participant(s). Entries that are incomplete, plagiarized, AI-generated, previously used, commissioned (including paid artworks or content by third parties), or deemed inappropriate may be disqualified at the judges' discretion. As someone who personally commissions art quite often, I totally get how much better things can look when a professional does them. That said, I’ve been thinking about the fairness aspect. Allowing commissioned pieces might come across as a form of pay-to-win, especially since not everyone has the means to commission an artist. It could create an uneven playing field, which isn’t the spirit of these events. I hope you guys can understand the reasoning behind this change. This update will apply to all future events that include a creative category, and I also want to apologize for any confusion caused by the grey area around this rule in the past.
