Let Onmyouji Fan cover Daggers

    if it was originally designed by nex*n for only for one-handed warr weapons, then the weapon does not have all the right frames for dagger animations

    Can you elaborate? looks like it has all the same animations as the other GM NX wpns that work for all weapons (at least for melee)

    I believe skills like Savage Blow, Assault and Assassinate all require frames that don't exist in warrior weapons.

    After looking at the animations closely i see those skill have some non basic animations. But after doing some more research I see that Onmyouji Fan was released with the Kanna class and was for all 1H wpns including daggers. It was still available in 2023 for 1h handed weapons and may still be and there are like 30 different 1h wpns in retail so I dont see how it can not have the required frames

    Edit: I looked at Maple.im and every necessary frame for this weapon exists for daggers

    Disclaimer: I haven't done any wz editing work in a couple of years and am far removed from any "staff work".

    You are correct. I took a look in the wz files, and the necessary frames are there (you don't even need a wz editor, as you've shown you can kind of just check via maples.im or maplestory.wiki). One could look at what standard frames are necessary for daggers by just looking up a standard dagger (like https://maplestory.wiki/GMS/255/item/1332049 ) and cross compare with the 1h sword frames from the Onmyouji Fan (https://maplestory.wiki/GMS/255/item/1702376 ).

    As far as special frames for skills, they all just call to the standard attack frames (like stabO1/2/F, or swingO1/2/3/F, etc.) with specified delays and positioning (by positioning, I mean positioning of the entire character). The weapon contains data for where to position the weapon on the character itself for each specific attack frame (relevant to the weapon it covers). It's not as case specific as you might think.

    In fact, there are many weapons like this that could be very easily adapted to cover other weapon types. I remember this being the case for me twice:
    • When editing event NX prizes for the forum events, where I adapted an NX weapon prize from GMS to work for more weapons than originally intended. Some times it's an easy copy paste with 5 minutes of testing, other times I had to slightly adjust a walking frame. For example, if it's a 1-h intended weapon, but has all the frames anyway thanks to the way modern maple is designed, some times all that was needed was to make the 2-h walking frame, which may involve a simple copy paste.
    • I wanted to make that whip from token of teamwork able to cover more weapons, and it's entirely possible. It never got pushed to the live game though (my fault entirely, I just kind of played around with it then forgot about it.)
    This is all to say that I don't think it would take very much work at all to test if this is adaptable to other weapons, in particular daggers. It should also be noted that it wouldn't increase the file size at all, which I am unaware if that's still a problem Royals is facing.

    Appreciate the in depth info and confirmation. It's a bit niche, but hopefully they decide to spend the few minutes sometime to rectify this since its looks incredible, one of the few GM NX wpns, and despite that it's a complete waste as it is. Pretty sure there's no NX item more tragic than this one
