As the title states. Which is the best overall, bosser, mobber respectively?

I'm new here so i'm just trying to get a grip on things before i progress further.

I'm currently a level 31 cleric, and i'm kind of tempted to start on a F/P mage instead of this cleric. Any advice.

    Fire/Poison
    • Pros:
      • highest single target DPS of all 3 mages with paralyze (you can white zakum/HT as long as everyone else is a mage lol)
      • fastest training in 3rd job with poison mist
      • meteor will have the highest base damage of all the mage ultimates with the new source
      • unique?
      • scrolled elemental wand 5 (end game wand) are readily available
      • meteor 20 and 30 books (4th job skillbooks) are cheap as fuck
    • Cons:
      • 2nd job training is boring as shit
      • you probably won't be wanted for any boss runs unless you have friends
      • you're stuck at petris until level 200 since you cant go to oblivion because for some reason, they are strong against fire...
      • some of the mobs summoned at zakum are resistant to fire so you do 1 damage with meteor....
      • no mystic door or holy symbol
    Ice/Lightning
    • Pros:
      • 2nd highest DPS of the 3 mages (you wont white zakum/HT even if everyone else is a mage)
      • fast 2nd and 3rd job training with lightning bolt/ice strike
      • you can freeze mobs until you can one hit KO monsters (might save money on potions)
      • most people say blizzard looks better than meteor and genesis
      • more unique than bishops
      • you can train faster than a F/P and bishop (in my opinion) because i/l are good for oblivion training and can escape petris around lvl 16x
    • Cons:
      • blizzard 30 skill book is pricey (~500-550mil)
      • you probably won't be wanted for any boss runs unless you have friends
      • clean and scrolled elemental wand 7 (end game wand) is harder to find
      • some of the mobs summoned at zakum are resistant to ice so you do 1 damage with blizzard...
      • no mystic door or holy symbol
    Bishops
    • Pros
      • most wanted in boss runs/parties
      • mystic door/holy symbol/resurrection/heal
      • you can use elemental wand 5-8 because who cares about elemental types if you're a bishop?
      • training is pretty fast
      • you'll probably get to lvl 200 by selling leech or leeching your own character
      • you can leech your own character very easily with holy symbol and door, making it easier to HP wash your main attacking character (NL, BM, sairs, etc)
      • people might leech you for free if you're willing to not afk and holy symbol
      • makes money fast
      • genesis costs less MP than meteor and blizzard
      • everyone loves you
      • but i dont really like you
      • but who cares what i think?
    • Cons:
      • lowest DPS of the 3 mages (you will never white anything, idc what you say...unless you're soloing, then you're stupid for soloing something. unless its a mushmom or a boss weaker than mushmom)
      • genesis 20 and 30 books are super expensive (~950mil-1.4bil)
      • you main training places (gs2, skeles) are pretty popular and you might have to buy a map to train
      • you're not unique
      • everyone has a bishop
      • im just adding bullet points now to make it seem like bishops are worse than they really are
      • but i'm actually really running out of things to say in this section because bishops are so good

2nd job was really fast for me (LPQ, LMPQ) so I didn't have chance to experience it ;)
And yea, I'm having really good time with my F/P mage, you know - misting skeles at level 79/80+

I think bishops are good overall but it's just so mainstream. But i guess i have to stick with bishop for now since i'm poor af.

And also, enlighten me on what's LMPQ and LPQ, one of them is Ludibrium pq right?

As a F/P Mage who has Horntailed for a while together with an I/L mage @NMNA , I disagree on your statement of a F/P doing more dps on Horntail than an I/L. Even though Paralyze has a basic attack of 210 and Chain Lightning has a basic attack of 180, on Horntail Chain Lightning hits nearly all body parts and does more damage to Horntail as a whole than Paralyze does per hit to 1 body part. Sure you can white a body part as a F/P over an I/L, but the I/L will still deal more damage in general.

Even though they're resistant to fire doesn't mean you can't go there! If you feel like playing an alternative style f/p mage, with Paralyze you can nearly 100% 2 hit Oblivion Road 2 around 1530 magic (buffed) and probably still grind faster than the average ranged character since you won't have to deal with minimum distance requirements.

That joke aside; even though I abandoned my F/P project for now, I've never grinded at Petris and probably never will. As some of my friends know of me, I only grind on RoR3 and RoR4 which have decent enough Exp while giving a lot more $$$ per hour than Petris ever will. Just because Petris are mainstream doesn't mean they are the best solution, if you run RoR4 properly you get more exp per hour too than Petris.. I just dislike the effort it takes though because of the map design so RIP me.

Starting out, I'd suggest a Bishop. Very clear training method and Mystic Door plus Holy Symbol will make life really easy. Get use to grinding with a Bishop and slowly decide which Elemental mage you want to pursue.

I never mentioned that I got whited, I just mentioned that the I/L mage hits 6 targets on Horntail which in total deals more damage than 1 target Paralyze. And to answer your first question, my gear was well above average at the time so that isn't the problem.
