    Hi Everyone!

    We've updated quite a few things over the last couple of days, and we hope that today's update will have restored stability to the server. We're pleased to say that things seem to be looking good so far! =)

    For those of you who have been wondering why we have had so many problems, I'll explain as straightforwardly as I can:

    Up until recently, we were using JDK 6, an older version of Java on the server, but we felt that upgrading to JDK 8 would give us better stability and overall improved performance. Unfortunately, JDK 8 doesn't support something we used in the majority of our NPC scripts, and although we tried to adapt things to work with JDK 8, the result was unfortunately chaotic. Fredrick offered to style your hair, KPQ teleported you to Singapore, one gachapon had an identity crisis and decided it was the Glimmer Man and some unlucky folks got warped out of Zakum on third body and dumped in CPQ - to mention nothing of the people who got bugged and couldn't login, or the random trips to Maple Island.

    Obviously, we couldn't leave things the way they were, so after many attempts to get around the JDK 8, we downgraded to JDK 7, which should, in theory, have fixed things. Sadly, this made things even worse, as the server stability took a nosedive and we were working around the clock trying to fix the crashes and you all had to deal with instability, uncertainty and many, many server checks.

    Further investigation fortunately threw up a solution we could use with JDK 8, so we've upgraded to that again and have not experienced any major issues so far, so let's hope that we can now put that rough patch behind us and enjoy stability, uptime and correctly functioning NPCs!

    We're very sorry for all the downtime and inconvenience that this has caused, and thank you for your patience, support and understanding.

    • Updated from Java 6 to Java 8 - NPCs started doing crazy random things
    • Downgraded to Java 7 in an attempt to fix this - server kept crashing
    • Re-upgraded to Java 8 with a new fix for compatibility issues and things are looking good!
    We're very sorry for all the downtime and inconvenience that this has caused, and thank you for your patience, support and understanding.

    These are some of the other things we have fixed/updated:
    • Sleepywood Gachapon is now open - enjoy!
    • All the Elemental Wands and Staves are now available from gachapon. Have fun finding them!
    • Characters on Maple Island below level 11 will get 1x exp/2x mesos/2x drop rates. Quest experience is also reduced the 1x exp. This will allow beginners to complete the Maple Island quests without over-levelling.
    • HTPQ is now working properly.
    • Orbis Exchange Quest now works properly and gives the correct amount of experience.
    • When we have a Server Check or simply reboot the server, the staff are now able to go onto the server to test that all is working properly before ending the Server Check and allowing everyone onto the server. If you try to log on and see the message: "Unable to log on as a master at IP", it means we're just checking things out and fixing them if necessary before bringing the server up again for everyone.
    • Increased the drop rate of Plant Samples for the quest Dr. Betty's Research on Plants.
    • Increased the drop rates of Wild Kargo's Spirit Rock, Tauromacis's Spirit Rock, Taurospear's Spirit Rock for quest A Spell that Seals Up a Critical Danger II.
    • Added Steel Hoe to drop from Blin for quest The Wooden Hoe That Snapped.
    • Increased droprate for Empty Potion Bottle to drop from crates for quest To The New World.
    • Added Large Pearl to drop from Oysters for quest The Large Pearl.

    Now, since Orbis exchange quest works as it should be, its time to make the Zipangu exchange quest as it should be. ~f17 Let the correct monsters drop Dark Cloud Foxtails and Ghost Headband so we can have a chance to get Brown work gloves and yellow adventure capes in exchange(low chance). Unless it was 'dissabled' on purpose!

    I think those drops were disabled on purpose. It would probably be better to replace the Yellow Adventurer Cape and Brown Work Gloves in the Showa Exchange Quest with something of lower value and add the etc drops back to the relevant mobs so people can at least complete the quests that need them.

    I personally think the Orbis Exchange didn't need to be hit so hard.

    I realize it now reflects live values, but this is a private server and not everything needs to obviously line up exactly. If that were the case, we wouldnt have increased spawn rates on certain maps, Trade->FM transportation, and other niceties.

    I know that it was a bit ridiculous being able to pay like 42m(4.2k etc. items at 2m/200) to get a level 30 may have been a bit silly - but it was still 50m. I'm a level 84 priest with only 154mil total and if I were to dedicate a third of my savings(shut up, I'm poor and have bad gach luck ._.) to making a character only get to level 30... Well, I'd say it isn't that uneven of a trade.

    Even if you wanted to tone it back slightly, making it worth 1/4 of the rate is a bit extreme. Even 4k/exchange would cut the amount in half. It also, in my opinion, gave an appeal to various Orbis/Nath locations because of the money the .etcs could yield instead of just powering through at FoG or Gs2.

    The combination of the Maple Island 1x and the lack of Orbis exchange makes the 1-30 process much slower I think.

    Just wondering if OPQ will ever be fixed? It saves the hassle of fighting over GS2 maps and such!
