    Hello!

I'm kerners, and it's nice to be here as a new player, and the community seems pretty swell.

But naturally as a new player, I'm unfamiliar with some features of the server and would like to ask some questions about the server, if you guys don't mind.

    Demographics
    1) What classes are needed/most sought out for here at the endgame? Any dire shortages?
    2) What are the major guilds here, and the state of guild politics (i.e. drama) in the server?

    Coding
    3) What are the major skills that are bugged here?
    4) Which PQs are fully functioning?

    Economic
    5) What's your take on the economy? How do most new guys gain funds?
    6) How accessible to the masses are important stuff like AP resets for washing & end-game equipment?

    Misc/Overall
    7) Any key features of the server that I should know about/would be relevant to me as a new player?
    8) Could you give me an honest, objective pros and cons summary?

I'm sorry if it comes across as intrusive, but I prefer to make informed judgements when playing games. I'd greatly appreciate any help in answering my queries. Thanks!

    Demographics
1] Paladins, since they're not very strong at the moment. They might be a lot more useful soon, though. Bowmen are also desired, especially Marksmen. End-game Shadowers are also needed, and they will (probably) get a boost soon. Remember, Shadowers are very expensive due to Meso Explosion (I know that, being a Shadower myself).
2] There's Queens, the main bossing guild. Then there's SiaoKaki, one of the main SEA guilds. There's also Lubs, but it's not as active as of late (as far as I know). I'd say Wings, my own guild, is fairly active, too, and mostly filled with Level 50-120, but a fair share of 120+.

    Coding
3] Mostly Pirate skills, really. They might be fixed soon, though.
4] KPQ and CPQ only have very minor bugs occuring due to the quest bug, which, however, is easily solved. OPQ is the same; LMPQ and LPQ are, as far as I know, a bigger problem. GPQ works, apart from the points not registering; Zakum PQ also works. HTPQ is a big problem, though... And let's face it, HT is too hard to fight, anyway.

    Economic
5] Easy ways of getting mesos early is selling AP resets bought with NX from votes. Later on, gachapon is good (It's Level 50+), and you can start merching for end-game with some small funding.
6] AP Resets are very easy to sell (and buy), and you can buy them with NX from votes, so it's easy to e.g. HP wash. They sell for 5m, mostly.

    Misc/Overall
7] There's a great donator system, as well as a nice server event at the moment. It's also not very laggy, and the amount of glitches and bugs is, especially for a v62 server, fairly low.
8] Pros would definitely be the active and friendly community and the nostalgia; the only thing from the post-BB Maple versions are the donator equips, which don't boost stats, so there's no pay-to-win going on. A con might currently be a very timezone-oriented GM event schedule and the quest bug (but that's in every low-version server, AFAIK).

Welcome to MapleRoyals! If you have any more questions (apart from the ones you already asked), feel free to add me in-game, my IGN is Linyah.

Marty, thank you greatly for your highly informative reply. I truly appreciate the time you invested in helping a newb out.

If you don't mind, I'd like to ask for clarification for one of the points:

"Paladins/Shadowers" becoming more "useful" or "getting a boost soon". Could you elucidate in further detail on what is currently flawed with these classes, and what changes would be done to buff them?

I didn't quite understand because I was under the impression that coders normally don't intervene in buffing or nerfing skills, and instead simply stick to the traditional variables from the database. Unless you mean that some crucial skills are bugged atm, and will be fixed subsequently.

Also, why marksmen especially (as opposed to BMs).

Edit: I've read through the thread linked below, and it's heartening to see the community taking the effort to encourage class diversity and respecting the balance of all classes. Thank you for the clarification!

    Thank you!

I believe Marty is eluding to a recent, long-winded discussion on the topic of reworking some of the skill system. A fine read if you happen to be between better literature at the moment.

Just for fun, if I were to choose between an F/P, a Marksman & a Sair which would you guys prefer? I know this is purely subjective but maybe you guys could offer some interesting viewpoints~

Also, I've heard that there was a wipe before. In general, unless the server is making a grave mistake and the future of it is at stake, wipes are avoided so as not to antagonize the player base. Could someone explain if there is a possibility of wipes in the future?

Edit: Thank you maggles for the clarification.

It has been made clear by Matt that the possibility of another future wipe is near non-existent. There was a wipe in the first place because the game wasn't very balanced and was way too easy.

i.e. nx dropping from mobs, 10x exp, unbalanced items.

Should've been more clear on the possibility of a buff/nerf of skills there.

And it's primarily because Bowmasters deal more damage and are, therefore, a lot more desireable than Marksmen.

And F/Ps are nice and good, a steady choice, and there aren't too many of them. Sairs are also neat, good for bossing, but the market for Guns and Pirate equipment is not very good. I think there's currently no high-level Marksman that's still active, so you can fill that spot (and be special :D).

As a F/P mage, I'd say stay away from F/P. Levels 1-70 are a drag since you have no mob skills. You won't really be able to level quickly until level 80-ish when you have a decent level Poison Mist. Even at level 116, it's a drag to wait for the Mist to work and the monster to weaken.

Honestly I'd go Marksman because you can mob after level 30 and Bowmen are short listed in the game.

I don't know much on Sairs but since a lot of the Pirate skills are bugged, I'd be careful.

some really good questions, smart of you to ask before playing <;-0

    1) What classes are needed/most sought out for here at the endgame? Any dire shortages?

Paladins are not "sought out" at all even a little, I think Marty thought you were referring to the most underplayed class. Which they are, because they aren't really good at anything. Hoping for buffs though, idk if there is a possibility of combat orders being put in, if it is things will change
Also like 30% of the server are bishops, but I guess that's for a reason

    3) What are the major skills that are bugged here?
You asked if you should make a corsair, pirates are pretty buggy. The ONLY useful outlaw skill is burst fire, I don't know if homing beacon is working but you don't use that until you start bossing anyway

    4) Which PQs are fully functioning?
    none, but almost kpq
people do kpq, cpq and i think rush opq though
I don't know about gpq but marty says its working so hey

    Economic
    5) What's your take on the economy? How do most new guys gain funds?
I would recommend new players to sell ap resets for early equip / pot money, people buy for about 4m each
    6) How accessible to the masses are important stuff like AP resets for washing & end-game equipment?
You get 8k nx every 24h from voting, and ap resets are 3.1k and people sell them, so yeah
End-game is interesting, it's pretty much impossible to get PERFECT gear

    Misc/Overall
    7) Any key features of the server that I should know about/would be relevant to me as a new player? Could you give me an honest, objective pros and cons summary?
One thing that should be noted is the rules and absence of warnings and minimum bans on 3 days. So you can't call your friends naggaz or figs in smegas, also 1week bans for vote abuse so don't do that. Also you're not allowed to ks people so don't do that either

If you have any other questions or want friends or whatever you can add mrjingles :lock:
