Let me just make an argument for leveling battleship cannon first: The damage from canon at lvl1 is very low. Low enough to not be worth the hustle to mantain the ship up. It is just 3 lines. At level 11 it gets an extra line, increasing the damage from 3x260% to 4x265%(+280% total damage). after this level cannon starts to look like a decent skill. So just to make things complicated but a little more optimal: I think cannon should be first to be leveled until 11, where it gets the very important 4th line. Then max the ship. This is just something that I saw and I'm doing. I just got my 4th job and I'm leveling cannon to 11. For me it does not make any huge impact(I'm leeching til 135) but for sairs that are leveling I think a cannon with 4 lines is more urgent than a more reliable ship. Just my opinion though
For sairs that are leveling, I think cannon to 30 first before putting any points into ship is also viable if they are mostly leveling via HH and Bigfoot/ Anego. These area bosses are easily pinned and never hit you. They also give amazing exp so the extra damage really helps.
First if youre leeching it doesnt matter when you max cannon because you won't use it and itll be maxed before 135. As for what first, just play it by ear. Ship management can be a difficult learning curve to get used to with all your other skills so the extra hp is nice. Cannon 11 is high priority but you're still not doing max damage and dont have max bullseye yet so whatever you need more between ship/cannon add accordingly. Some people only add 1 ship, but you cant miss all hits or damage, lots of unexpected things happen, especially in zakum, so unless you're obscenely funded everyone will outdamage you until you have max bullseye. But if you lose your ship or are contantly trying to not get hit, you wont be doing any damage with level one rapid fire and your 3rd/4th job octos. I really recommend one point in octo because of this, your ship will break unless youre at places that can 1hko you. Even with max cannon and bullseye, if your ship cant take unexpected hits, you just go back to level one rapid fire. In my opinion its worth maxing before bullseye because of this, and its only 10 points. At 4th i did a point in everything except mw and torpedo and heros will then got battleship to 8, then maxed cannon, then maxed ship. Then max bullseye, then mw to 9 (or higher if you can) and a point in torpedo and im maxing rapid fire now, which makes ship management much less stressful when you know you arent losing so much damage output when you aren't on your battleship. Rapid fire is super strong at max, especially with bullseye. It was a really enjoyable build and didnt slow me down, and speeds up when you hit 135. Learning your mount/dismount cues is easy but executing on top of all other actions is another story. Next will be max octo or mw, then probably torpedo or element boost
One question: I noticed when I'm killing big foot that my canon stops working if i'm spamming it after some time. It does not go back unless I move. This is some bot-preventing mesure the server/Maple Story implemented? How can I best avoid it if it is? Since this turns down my damage a lot because I have to reposition and pin again.
It's like that for every attack in the game except hurricane/rapid fire. After attacking 100 times you can't attack anymore, unless you move and exposition yourself You can just slightly move to the side and fix this
Isn't it much better and faster to max out Doubleshot before Somersault at at the 1st job though? I tried it out and Doubleshot has a MUCH better DPS than Somersault, so I would assume that it would speed up the grind. What makes Somersault better than Double Shot then?
Somersault is 190 x 6 monsters. Double shot is 110x2 x 1 monster. So 220 x 1 If you hit 2 monsters you are already doing 380%, 3 is 570%. Double shot is 220% always. Mob skills are increadibly good for grinding, although the area damage is pretty small with kick if u can hit 2 mosnters you are already better off. Playing on packed places like ant tunnel you will be doing a lot of damage and getting a lot of xp. Of course, if we are talking 1v1 the shot is better and also better because of mobility, but in early game aoe is very valuable.
Oooh. But when I do the Somersault on Wild Boars I always get damage that goes from 1-20, but when I do the doubleshot on boars then each shot can go from 1-75, I don't understand why because I maxed out Somersault and have double-shot on level 1? Are some mobs resistant to certain attacks?
I don't know, maybe the % based damage is calculated differently when you use a gun. Try using a knuckle for training, the damage should be higher
It seems like the knuckles balances out the chance of getting higher Somersault damage, and the Gun lowers the chance for good damage. I don't know if that's how the scaling of the game works though. Thank you for the help, btw! <3
Since I don't know either what I did is have all the necesary MP to wash if some day I need 30k. I play at 15k hp right now.
Highly dependent on your STR gears. You need 110 STR to equip the Level 110 Dragon Revolver (end game). So your base STR + equips STR needs to meet or exceed 110 in order to wield/hold this weapon. Equips that usually have both Dex (main stat) and Str (secondary) - "not an exhaustive list": Zakum or Scarlion Helm Face: Rudolph Shiny Nose (Xmas event) or Sweet Love (gacha/Valentine's event) Eyes: Spectrum Goggles (CWKPQ) Maple Earrings (Anniversary event) Pirate Overalls (scrolled for Dex or Str) Horntail Pendant/Silver Deputy Star (NLC quest)/MoN necklace (CWKPQ)/Spiegelmann's necklace (Monster Carnival)/Horus Necklace (Magatia - not so sure on this) Other seldom used items with Str: Pirate shoes (but usually Chaos scrolled WA Facestompers are preferred) Any Capes (but usually Chaos scrolled PAC or PGC WA are preferred) Pirate gloves (but usually Chaos scrolled SCG, BWG WA are preferred) Hope this helps.
