Found something interesting , in Kerning, there are multiple of these spray paintings and saw a hidden message that I think reads "NLC Typhoon" Makes me really think when they were working on Kerning City they were already thinking of adding NLC into the game
Never touched Monster Farm in current Maplestory but apparently this NPC exists in the game, which caught me off-guard because it's such a rare sight of fanservice If you wondering why the one on the rightmost looked different, it's most likely because it's for the Monster Farm dialogue UI
I want to talk about letter mobs because they are cute and funny They first appear in a old pq named English School in tms cms and mapleSEA As the pq names English School They want you to learn english when mapling so why not < This npc will ask you some question and you need to find letter for the answer It's a pretty fun event but too bad idk English when i was young so didn't participate this event that much Reward are funny too you can even get like crimson barlog sack if you can answer hard question But sack only let you use in the event map if you exit those sack will gone(and of course ppl find way to steal them out loll video like this: Also you were able to collect letter mob's cards I believe pbpq event also drops cards
aw how cute!! i've never seen the S mob in the anniversary event O_O i was wondering what it looked like!!
I'm not sure if these have been posted before. Just some random tidbits that are probably around the deepest parts of the MapleStory lore iceberg. Some of you may know that the mobs around Crimsonwood and the Phantom Forest were a bit bugged on release, what with Leprechaun's attacks not triggering due to the mobs not having any MP, or the fact that there exist unused right-facing variants of Phantom Trees and Crimson Trees in the files. But there's more! With the release of v0.59 and Crimsonwood, Nexon forgot to mark Bigfoot as a boss mob (clumsy!), which meant that Hermit's Shadow Web could be used to dealt 1,066,666 damage per tick. Since Nexon America presumably did not want to or couldn't distribute new files to solve this right away, they hot"fixed" it server-side and made Bigfoot only give out 20k EXP. Windraiders were not as OP on launch as they would later become and be known for. Observe that they only gave out 400 EXP on release, just half of what they would later give. Lastly, as you all know, Encounter with the Buddha is quite an op map being all flat and densely populated with Dreamy Ghosts. On release, the map actually only contained Water Goblins, with Dreamy Ghosts being added to the files later. At some point though, it seems that Nexon Japan regretted turning the map into all-Dreamy Ghosts, and added Water Goblins back into the mix again. Furthermore, they made Dreamy Ghosts cast the Seal debuff on players, presumably to further "nerf" the map. This seems to have happened around April of 2008 in JMS.
There's a rather interesting sign on Krexel's building (remember this is part of Singapore). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chewing_gum_sales_ban_in_Singapore Unless the artist messed up, which is unlikely given the amount of detail Singapore has, this suggests Ulu City dates back to at most 1992.
Today I want to talk about some sacks becasue I like to collect sacks Spoiler: the funny bag In MapleRoyal there's normal monster sacks with number from lmpq、cwkpq and gm event. Boss sacks like Brand New Monster Galore from NLC gacha and Black Sack from Sleepywood gacha or gpq You can also get some sacks from different events like Helloween monster sack or Anniversary Superslime sack. There's some quests in ludi give sacks with some ludi mobs like robot、trojan、alien and different sack. But sadly those are not repeatable quests. If you try to owl for sacks you can see a lot of untrade、unobtainable sacks you never see it before. Which are using by gm for respawn boss or during monster invasion event I think. Although I really want to see what's inside every sacks. but sadly sack's description didn't write like this: Yes some monster sacks are not 100% to spawn every mob. Also remember every version of maple can change the mobs inside sacks too. So same sack will probably spawn different mob in different verison. And some sacks only appear in specific version of maple. Here are some sacks that I think are cool And there's even a sack in jms which can spawn a gachapon machine mob and some videos
Does anyone else remember these animations? I remember watching the one where the mage in Ellinia jumps from really high up on the GMS website back then.. so glad to have found this video (did someone post this before?) Video Link
There's also one that came with the introduction of the pirate job, as well as a three part series about the Golem Temple. Here's a compilation of them all, upscaled to 4K and 60 FPS using AI.
Honestly, I'm kind of confused while writing this, I've tried my best to cross check both version for differences and inconsistency that I can find, but here's a messy thread of the difference between Taipei 101 and Kerning Square (mostly graphical and background stuffs like that) Starting with the background for Taipei 101... ...and the background for Kerning Square version... Despite both of them looking almost the same, you can see that LOGO shop in Taipei 101 was replaced by LUDY shop in Kerning Square, along with the sign for the shop on bottom left for Taipei 101 was changed to BOTTUN sign in Kerning Square. Before I explain more about my findings, I just want to let everyone know that most of the shops in Taipei 101/Kerning Square is not premade, but is separated by bits and pieces so that Nexon can mix and match these assets to make unique shops, so there's that- Anyway, here's the Taipei 101's LOGO assets... ...and here's Kerning Square's LUDY assets, you probably can tell why Nexon decided to change the signs... No idea why they bothered to do that though, when they literally have a FUMA store that's not totally based on PUMA at all because it's not a leaping puma... There's only like one LOGO shop in Taipei 101 from the version I have, but they're obscured by the escalator... ...so I tried my best to recreate the shop to it's full glory in two variants- Taipei 101 has three building that Kerning Square removed, and they're the are the hair salon, plastic surgery and the armor/weapon seller that was edited to BOTTUN on the background image for Kerning Square, you still can see the same arrangement of staves and helmets there if you compare them- Only the dermatology shop remains in Kerning Square, you can see them at Kerning Square lobby and in certain hunting maps- There's also bunch of different Versage shops in both Taipei 101 and Kerning Square too, which is kind of confusing because they're so inconsistent in both versions that I have right now- In Taipei 101, they looked like this... But in Kerning Square, they looked like this... They're even labeled differently, Taipei 101 is listed as Beauty Shop but in Kerning Square, it's listed as Fashion Shop, which is not that far off from what actual Versace is doing (I think?). There's more inconsistency and differences like this between both version but I'm not gonna be listing them all or we'll have a very lengthy discussion about that, and honestly who really cares about it- Anyway, Starpotion Cafe received a minor change to it's appearance as you can see here, with Taipei 101 version looking like this... ...and Kerning Square version looking like this- Taipei 101 also have it's own Free Market gate and Pachinko parlor for whatever reason- There's also a unique store with Gamania sign in Taipei 101 that looked like this- Some unused shop signs that is not used in both version, as far as I checked- This is the Gamania shop sign, no idea what it actually mean though Bunch of La'Goste logo La'Goste is actually in the game, but it uses a different design and looked like this instead, so it is interesting to see a completely unused logo in the files- Also, Nexon somehow forgot to erase "Tipei 101" on the La'Coste building in Kerning Square, not like they even trying when it's literally just Taipei 101 reskinned in the end- The signs at the Observatory area was also changed in Kerning Square, here's how they looked like in Taipei 101... ...and here's Kerning Square version of the same area- Some animated boards and signs was changed in Kerning Square, here's some of them in Taipei 101 (they're animated by the way)... ...and here's Kerning Square version of the same store (which unfortunately, is a static image)- I'm curious, but I wonder if anyone can even find out the source image for these albums, that would be interesting if someone managed to find it- And finally, the full glory of the subway walls advertisement without anything obscuring it for both Taipei 101 and Kerning Square- So, what can we learn from this whole section? Well, that I am actually running out of content and trying my best to salvage it by showing you some minor details you would least likely to notice but hey, thanks for reading this one
