I think adding this ring will be great, I remember it used to be one of the best events in old maple. Also, it'll contribute to the server by making people more active during the days the event lasts. However, maybe it could stay untradeable even at day 17, to prevent the ring from affecting the game's economy.
I have a feeling they won't add it, just because the ring was pretty overpowered even in old school maplestory
I'm not in favor of this idea as it will only make players active for 17 days, which isn't what we want.
Perhaps put a cap on its growth until level 11/15 (prefer it to be level 11 myself since that'll be like a 2 carat ring) since level 16/17 is way too OP (stats can be viewed here https://maplestory.fandom.com/wiki/Evolving_Ring), makes it completely untradeable (not even transferrable through storage) and makes it only obtainable via a quest line as tedious as the zak alternative jump quest thing where you've to hunt tons of untradeables utilising mobs where no one go to train to encourage more exploration per upgrade? Or better yet, put it as a reward for completing Monster Book once it's released depends on the percentage of your collection? Ie : If the max level ring decided to be used is level 11 then make the level 1 ring obtainable for free from the Lith Harbour monster book NPC guy then you can upgrade it every time you completed 10% of the whole monster book collection and the level 11 is your ultimate ring reward. So this evolving ring is actually an evolving ring now that grows when you explore newer regions and level up! The rings gives 150 HP so that helps lessening the burden of HP washing too!
I am against the idea also. It will make our seasonal event rings (thanksgiving, holloween, and carat ring) more obsolete. We have alchemist ring but good ones are hard enough to earn. That goes same for the krex ring also.
Make it evovle for 2 years. Have to log in everyday for evolve ring lvl 730+1(depending on leap year).
Since it takes 17 days for it to fully evolved, how about adjusting it so that it evolve every 10 levels or defeat 17 bosses with related questlines 17 times. The main point is to make it harder to get than just being online for 17 days. +1 For the ring can be used to increase HP similar to Dojo belt and Ergoth's Medal.
I think it's a interesting idea if the ring can be evolved based on your level progression, number of quests completed, and how many of each bosses you have killed so far. E.g. For every 50 levels, evolve 1 time (so total 4 evolutions). For every 100 quests, evolve 1 time (there are more than 800 quests available, doing 800 would evolve 8 times) The remaining 5 levels can be based on how many bosses you killed (e.g. kill 100 zakum to evolve 1, 100 HT another, etc). After all, it's called a "Evolving" Ring and it only make sense as it evolves as your character grows.
Is it easy to do that though? Like there is multiple, different requirements for you to fulfil to upgrade one tier of ring which you can complete simultaneously if it is to follow your suggestion. Because the quest system, to my knowledge, seems to be able to reward you a specific reward only like ring I > ring II per individual quest. Can we have a quest system that check the Ring simultaneously? What I mean is if I run into this situation:- 1) I've Ring I 2) I accept both quest that will reward me a Ring II if I completed them (every 50 levels and 100 quests) 3) I completed the requirements of both quests, I turned in the quest that rewards me Ring II for every 50 levels first 4) I've Ring II and now I cannot complete the quest for 100 quests Or can we have a quest system that simply upgrade the ring by 1 tier when you completed one? Edit : Never mind I think that is doable like the SOS letter for Robinson and the White / Black Versal thing from NLC. Just have the system to check what ring do you have in possession and let the quest triggers when you've the right ring. It just means that there will be multiple quests need to be created to cater all of the possible upgrades depends on which quest does the player want to complete first though.
I wouldn't want to dive too deep yet since it's not with certainty that we'll implement this. But, it's good to have some discussion so by the time we come to it (if we do), at least we already have some basic ideas.
Just noticed that this ring may exclude certain classes and players if it would require boss kills. If it would require HT, that evolution would be very annoying for DKs and unwashed players. And no boss run would add an AM to a run lel
People could go to HT with 29 mages as all they need is enough potions, all cures and a SED Mule (take me please, getting those 100 kills asap ). Fastest 100 HT runs of their (mage) lives. But yes if it's too much hassle to organize such runs then that part should be somewhat changed. For example they have to sell leech for 150 hours at Ulu1, 200h Ulu2... Etc...
You could also add some other like jump quests all over the world, party quests, etc, making it a ring that grows when doing all the game content. There are lots of fun things to do in maplestory that are just not rewarding enough.
Its will be a Giant RIP For Players that placed in a ton of efforts to Grind up their Ring Of Alchemist don't you think so?
