There’s currently some rumours that it’s impossible to roll 3 on more than one stat on the shoulders, for example nobody in my guild has seen one and we’ve looted over 50 combined this week. Anyone here have been able to? I’d rather dispel this rumour here before it spreads.
right arm hitbox seem to be little misleading compare to left arm my Marauder was fisting air like a pro
Providing some thoughts after both running this with a 6/6 random group in cc1 and with guild members on a 3.5 person run (1 dead halfway lol) , also I'm speaking in terms of a fairly casual player (~1h of game play per day, entry level gear, highest toon is about 170) with entry level CGS and funding so might not reflect the status of veteran players who's been round for very long. So, with that disclaimer/FYI out of the way... The PQ provided me a good opportunity to play with senior members of my guild (Shout-out to Northern!). I'm not online frequent enough to get into the action for VL and trio/dual high level content yet, but this PQ was a nice place to play with the vets and have fun with them. The sense of not having a 30k toon forcing you to pay attention to DR and such was fun, especially seeing that even for vets it's not a braindead hit the boss game (unless you're a warrior that is, but then again the point of being a warrior in any game is to have high HP for situations like this). The duration of the PQ (~25min) and the no-prep required partying up process (aka no getting buyers, no Manon hunt, easy tele to the boss map for 500k lol.... etc) is nice for random pop-up fun runs that wont run into real life commitments. With the 6/6 CC1 group i liked the fact that folks were communicating in chat on DR animations and coordinating tomb hits etc (it was everyone's first time, and we just kind of went with it and decided it was a learning run). We lost 3 on the 1st DR so the 1st run was a wash, but nobody raged and everyone kept at it and wanted to retry even considering the shoulder drop situation. On 2nd run we lost a mage at start so it was basically a 5 man run and finished with about 3 min left (folks were pretty conservative on DR on phase 3 we held back a bit). So damage wise i think as long as you dont lose people during the run, even a casual group without apples/40+CGS would be able to make it in time, obviously having strong gear would help for sure, but finishing the PQ is not really gated by that, which is always nice to see for new starters. Actual game play wise~ DrK are really strong for this, the natural HP from warriors kinda let you ignore DR dmg as long as you auto pot over 4.5k to be safe, and their extra attack range really shines on left arm and head, easy cleave of adds while hitting boss is also just extra utility and damage. I was playing a Crusader and felt like i had to be right in his face to hit him (and with my poor movement managing skills I fell off the platform a few times which is a huge dps loss, it was a climb of shame up that rope trying to get back to the platform without power stance). Don't wanna comment too much on other classes since i didnt play, but my limited observation is that Thiefs/Archers could manage to make it through if you be super careful on the DR, or having a DrK that instant re-HB you on each dispel. Mages probably gets the short end of the deal here, dispel can be a real killer. Just to finish it up, big thanks to the folks at Northern for organizing XD Hope everyone get their 3/3/3/3 shoulders~
Per https://royals-library.netlify.app/ Head -> Lightning Balrog Right Hand (left side hand from player POV I guess) -> Fire Balrog Left Hand (right side hand from player POV I guess) -> Ice
yeah, thats what i wanna say,bpq will increasingly intensify discrimination against the class of mage and need to invest time to grind new char to lv75 again, ridiculously, the shoulder equip just give u low attribution, and i have to do this in each main char!WTH!so did royals manager think we,maplers, have so much leisure time in real life?
Again, exp is too low. 3man 20min run without hs, 30% exp only at 76 level 4 runs ppq can hit more than 40% exp at same level. Even this content forcing apple run, especially none-cgs users who just beginning this game.(they have to try 6man run cuz lack of dps) In my opinion, Exp should be doubled.
I might actually be having fun with this content playing Dragon Knight. There, I admitted it. It feels so much better to come out of the closet.
i had fun participating in this content for a good week, and although it was fun, i can't deny that the replayability is lacking and in its current state, i just think it's gonna be another dead content in the near future. I feel there should be more rewards besides XP, NX & the shoulder pads because it really is lackluster atm. Once a player gets their desired shoulder pads (which can be attained rather quick without godly system, i got mine on the 2nd run), there's simply no reason to ever touch this pq again. Using other PQs like KPQ/LPQ as examples, they all provide some level of additional rewards on top of their unique untradeable items which are respective to the level range they were designed for, like bamboo hat for KPQ or red cider for LPQ (sadly it's still not enough, hence why they're also dead content atm), tokens of teamwork, etc. Having better rewards would also make players feel more optimistic about leveling a new character from scratch (maybe copium). Some rewards off the top of my head could be like, - sauna robe - lv 90 overalls or just lv 70 - 90 equipments (not sky ski) - gizers or peppermints or the 40 att pot from halloween - maybe a really really low drop-rate jackpot item (pink adventurer cape maybe!)
I'd like to further talk about this suggestion i made, currently afaik the only source to get a sauna robe is from the sleepywood sauna quest, and sauna robes currently only serves as a novelty item since bathrobes (which are better because of +10 speed) exists. Now, hear me out! Buff sauna robes so they comes with +1 to all stats on average (susceptible to godly system & can be 'farmed' from balrog boss, not 100% droprate, maybe 20% drop-rate), so in the very best case scenario, they would be +6 all stats and 10 slots (6 6 6 6 is also fitting the theme for this content), and worst case scenario no stats at all! The best version of this sauna robe would still be inferior to any class specific overalls yet i think there is potentially a demand to such an item. Some of the pros would be : - A new dynamic reward that would give players something to look forward to after they slayed the boss, keeping the balrog content bustling and a different reward experience in every balrog run. - An item like this would give more opportunities for players to try out other classes as for players that don't really care about min-maxing, they would find such an item useful since it's not class restricted. So a 56 dex sauna can be used by corsairs and later on if they get bored of sair, they can make the transition over to archers without feeling like they need to get gears all over again! - It would serve as a sink of all sorts, from WS scrolls, normal/cursed scrolls & mesos.
I agree with what a lot of people are saying, I'm not putting that much time and effort on creating a new character on my main account to get the shoulders JUST for that thing. I can't even use the character after. Best solution for me is to put a damage cap and not let us use 4th job skills. With the damage (and maybe also HP cap) you can control that the fight is fun and challenging, and not doable by just throwing godly items into a low lvl character.
Tbh we already have that in the form of boss Hunter overalls. But I really enjoy the mid level gear drops
Yup, i know about those. My suggestion to buff sauna robes and add them to the drop pool isn't meant to be meta changing or replacement of the sort, boss hunter overalls are still superior by default as they have more stats and +hp on them (as they should be). In fact, i reckon they would most likely not have any tangible impact on the item eco system at all. It's just something players can be like, "oh look, i got a sauna, it's 3 str! Let me toss a 30% str scroll in it and see how it goes", or "oh 6 int sauna! How much can i sell this for?". Little things like that to give players a more interesting reward experience! Considering that the whole balrog content takes place deep within dark and mysterious sleepywood, some sauna enjoyers perhaps might have ventured too recklessly after their therapeutic session, and the robes that appear after the balrog is slain are tales of their unfortunate fate.... OwO
Why not raise lvl limit to 100 instead of 99, could help improve class diversity instead of dk parade and their maple spears and sky skis
I feel this content doesn't quite reach this. I rarely see BPQ being recruited for outside of some trio warriors selling runs. I think this boss fails to reach a wider player base for several reasons. First off, this already limits the pool of players from the outset. >New players, and vets who want to try something new. So cross off vets who aren't interested in something that isn't their main. >Then, in the pool of vets who do want to try a new character, it has to be on the same account as your main. This is less than ideal on Royals, where having each character on a separate account is heavily favorable. >Further, the level cap for this PQ ends at 99. That means, ideally, you want your character to hit a power spike before 100. That means HP washing is basically out, as most washing is usually ending at 120 or even 135 or higher. Also, if a player reaches 99 but doesn't have their 3/3 shoulder, they practically have to stop leveling and potentially even lower their exp or capstone until a ideal stat shoulder drops. >HP gaining outside washing limited. Non warrior jobs only have access to a few Olaf quests, and Elixir of Life quest, which can be taxing and expensive to finish. Other HP equips mostly detract from power level or are very time consuming (like lpq for glasses, opq for gloves). Outside that, HB is almost mandatory. >There's also an issue of weapon and gear availability; many vets with new characters just deal with level 64 maple weapons at most, and rarely Pyrope weapons, until 100. Most other gear is endgame focused, or INT gear for washing. >The rewards are low. For the amount of effort this boss potentially takes (leveling 1-99, gearing, hp quests, attack pots, etc.) once you get your 3/3 shoulder, you could potentially nab just 1000-2000 nx a day. >Mages worthless. This isn't a new, mages aren't sought after for bossing in Royals. Even priests have less role here, with the boss casting frequent, sometimes b2b dispels, zombie effect (heals cause damage), and other statuses not being dispel-able. Even HS is not looked for, with the goal of the boss mainly being the shoulder and not gaining exp. And like I pointed out above, getting EXP can be sometimes unwanted. >Boss is very challenging for new, under geared players. The boss difficulty to me, seems like it is designed to have 2-3 vets leading and dealing most the damage. I think new players, even with 6 people, would find this very difficult. There's several mechanics that are very punishing that can end runs. And once 1 run fails, many players will leave without the guarantee of a shoulder pickup. I think this is where we are today: vets making a warrior, usually a DK because of HB and powerful gear availability, and selling runs and excluding new players. I think this content could be more. It just needs to be more accessible. If it was content that was could be done 2 times a day for a healthy boost in EXP for 75+ players, some NX, and an exclusive equip, that would be great. Having challenging content isn't bad. I'm just curious why this boss, which is supposedly supposed to be for both new and vet players, has so many things keeping people away.
