Hello, it has come to my attention that the Showa Boss Expedition is hardly ever being run in the server. Since my time here, I only recall 1 smega calling attackers for Grandpa Expedition. To ensure I am not suffering from confirmation bias and my assumption is correct, here are some data points I have collected, to show Showa Boss Expedition is hardly ever run in the server. Spoiler: More frequency data ~ Many bosses here have their own niche, unique strategy and rewards to keep players entertained. I believe due to its great difficulty, high HP requirements for melee classes and seemingly lackluster rewards, Showa boss expedition is hardly ever run in this server. Which is a pity for an endgame boss that has an interesting battle mechanic but yet no one is challenging it. Hence I suggest making the expedition more attractive to players by adjusting the drop table and experience from it, similar to how Papulatus experience was increased in Update 54, to attract more players. I proposed buffing both Bodyguard A and B to have it award at least the same or significantly more experience than Zakum bring the grand total to 196,246,400 experience. I feel this is justified due to their higher level requirements (from level 140 to 155), greater difficulty and the 1 run per day limit. Lastly, I suggest including a few additional drops like Power Elixir, Energizer and Maple Pop to prepare warriors for the high accuracy needed for the final showdown. I also would like to suggest adding an additional 5k NX coupon too into The Boss's drop table and reducing his avoidability from (440 ~ 300?) accuracy to about 270, enough for Buccaneers/Paladins to attack it with Maple Pop (Thanks Resum for the insights) Moderator note: Added Shogun Earrings to The Boss.
The big reward for the boss is the exp bag from the boss himself. But warriors cannot hit the boss without severly compromising their damage so they don't want to go to the boss (440 accuracy required to 100% hit, . Then the body guards are a huge pain in the ass without rush but warriors don't get nearly as much benefit from the main reward. The best way to encourage more showa runs is to lower the avoid of the boss to a level where you can hit him with pops. But adding at least 1 5k would be nice
I agree with your point about lowering the accuracy needed for the fight and not buffing The Boss's exp, this will be helpful especially for melee classes that do not need Dex as to equip their weapons but still able to hit them with Maple Pop. Thanks for letting me know, I have updated it accordingly.
I've solo'd Toad and the Showa bosses as a Paladin before the patch buffs. Even though all the Showa bosses are elementally weak, it still took longer to kill them than toad. Even when I used dex and accuracy gloves, the fight with The Boss did not take too long. It's Bodyguard A and Bodyguard B that take awhile. Toad is shorter, gives more exp, Can give multiple 5k nx, drops elemental wands, good scrolls, and a unique mask; this run also takes 2-3 people. Showa bosses drop 1 5k nx(rare), Gold Emerald Earrings(really rare), and this boss is usually done in a party of 6 people. These bosses shouldn't be nerfed in their difficulty, they just need better rewards. In my experience a run usually ends in 400nx split between 6 people. 400nx for a boss that's right behind HT in time consumption is not rewarding. It took maybe 25min to solo The Boss as a single warrior with a 70% accuracy rate, so add 1-2 more warriors and The Boss is still a quick fight.
What if people don't have enough time to do all bosses everyday, hence end up doing only the most rewarding 1-3 bosses? Slightly buffing the least rewarding boss will do nothing as there's only so much time in a day. I don't see a problem with certain bosses being less viable or attractive.
At the minimum shouldn't it pay off a bit in the end? I did bga runs because they were more difficult than the other bosses, which made them quite fun. Bga himself takes longer to kill than krexel and zakum and only drops an etc, he should be able to drop 5k 2nd too. All 3 together take longer than toad and for all the times I did bga runs, 400nx is the most common reward.
That is a valid point you are making, but just because not everybody will kill all bosses every single day, it doesn't mean we shouldn't improve on the status quo. Besides I am not advocating for people to do all bosses each day. I was trying to highlight that this expedition is hardly being run at all and by incentivizing the expedition, it could introduce a better endgame environment for players without adding any new content into the server. Furthermore, by improving this expedition, unwashed range players will get another outlet to boss (other than Krexel and Zakum), as is very possible to survive as seen in Sila's video. This will help the server to have a stronger stance that washing is optional. It also goes both ways for more committed players, as this can be a good goal for them to wash higher than the traditional 10 to 12k HP, increasing longevity and another avenue to show off their 30k willpower. I do not believe by adjusting the rewards to my suggested figure will suddenly make the expedition suddenly become the new Zakum, Horntail or Scarga, but if reach the same level of attention as Krexel/ Shaolin as shown in the chart, I will be happy.
the best boss from server <3, I agree that each body should drop 100, 250 and 5k NX or drop 2~3 5k NX at last body like Toad and increase Gold Emerald Earring drop rate.
I think the most interesting solution would be to make the "Big Boss Flashlight" etc item useful. For example, why not have an exchange quest where you can trade it in for a random reward? Throw in some good items like BWG, PGC and some nice dark scrolls from Zipangu and don't make the rates too terrible and then you'll have an item with solid value that you can sell or use yourself.
