    Hi Royallers!

This update requires all players to download a new setup. The download link is available on the website's download page now. You will need to use the latest setup to enjoy the latest content and avoid experiencing gameplay issues after the patch.

Today's Update #54 and patch bring with it the release of our 5th Anniversary Events to celebrate MapleRoyals becoming half a decade young, as well as some egg-citing belated Easter Events. Additionally, this patch introduces new content for both high and low leveled players, as well as a whole host of bug fixes and improvements which you will be able to read about below. So without further ado, let's get into the changes:

New methods to increase your characters' HP:

As recently mentioned here, our thoughts were to introduce more ways to gain extra HP, and lower the necessity of HP washing, and as of this update we have introduced some of those ways:
    • A new quest series "Water from the Spring of Youth" will reward players with HP each time it's completed.
      • Warriors can receive 1,000 HP from the whole series.
      • Beginners/Thieves/Archers/Pirates can receive 500 HP from the whole series.
    • Job advancements have received increased HP gain. Players have also been retroactively refunded the difference as follows:
      • Warrior:
        • 3rd job advancement now gives 1000-1050 HP instead of 300 - 350 HP
        • 4th job advancement now gives 1800-1850 HP instead of 300-350 HP
      • Bowman:
        • 3rd job advancement now gives 600-650 HP instead of 300-350 HP
        • 4th job advancement now gives 900-950 HP instead of 300-350 HP
      • Thief:
        • 3rd job advancement now gives 600-650 HP instead of 300-350 HP
        • 4th job advancement now gives 900-950 HP instead of 300-350 HP
      • Pirate:
        • 3rd job advancement now gives 600-650 HP instead of 300-350 HP
        • 4th job advancement now gives 900-950 HP instead of 300-350 HP
Keep in mind there will be further means towards gaining more HP which will be made available in the coming updates:
    • Guild Party Quest has received a new medal challenge which rewards you with a medal that increases HP by +500.
      • NOTE: This will be made available in Update #56 alongside the release of Guild Party Quest.
    • Mu Lung Dojo Belts will include an HP stat. Players will receive higher amounts of HP as they upgrade their belts, with the Black Belt giving the maximum amount of 300 HP.
      • NOTE: This will be available in a future update. A road map describing what's coming up next can be seen here.
    New Events:
    • The Moon Bunnies are here on a belated visit, apparently time moves slower in space?

    Login Server Revamp:

We had asked the community what we should work on next, and the login server came out on top - and we agreed! The login server had a lot of technical debt that needed to be taken care of, was missing features, and generally had lots of room for improvement. As such, the login server has been rebuilt from the ground up to support updates within the underlying networking library that the servers use, every feature within the login screens, and significantly higher performance and reliability.
    • PIN and PIC systems are now working.
      • Players are advised to use a strong PIN and PIC to increase their account’s security.
      • PINs are a mandatory system - players will be required to create a PIN, however players will only ever be asked for your PIN if we detect that you're logging in from somewhere different, or if someone else is trying to log into your account. This is to help provide a baseline level of security for all accounts.
      • PICs are an optional system - players have the option to opt-out via the website, and are meant as a secondary level of protection. However, should you wish to delete your character(s), you will need to activate the PIC system via the Control Panel on the website.
PIN user interface at login screen:

    • Channel population bars are now working.
      • This also fixes the issue where the world disappears when you press “Back” from the Character Select screen.
        Channel fullness bars:
    • View-All-Character is now working.
      • NOTE: Logging through this feature will log you into a random channel.
    • View Recommended World is now working.
    • Character deletion is now working.
      • NOTE: PIC entry is mandatory for character deletion, therefore if you have opted out to be prompted for a PIC, this will need to be reactivated via the Control Panel on the website first before being able to delete a character.
    • World and Job rankings are now working and will be updated everyday.
      • NOTE: All banned and GM accounts/characters will not be included in the ranking system.
        In-game ranking:
    • Multi-server configurations are now supported. This includes multiple worlds, multiple login servers, and multiple Cash Shop servers - generally the server can expand in whatever way needed to suit our needs.
      • NOTE: There are currently no plans to use more than one world at this time.
    General Server Improvements:
    • As part of the big login server update and upgrading it to the newer version of the underlying networking library, everything to do with how the servers communicate with one another was revamped. In doing so, the servers can now communicate with one another at incredibly fast, extremely reliable rates of speed, and are very fault tolerate - if a channel crashes (for example), the other channels will no longer become unordered, and the rest of the server itself remains unharmed. Fixing that crashed channel means we just need to restart that channel, as opposed to restarting the entire server. It's difficult to encompass all of the varying improvements that come with an upgrade this large, but we assure you that server performance and reliability is our one of our top priorities and strongly feel that this update will help display that.
    • Fixed a memory leak that lead to a random channel crashing after the server had been online for about a week to two weeks.
    • Reduced the amount of memory allocated every time a channel server runs through all the objects in the world to update them (like spawn points, characters, and so on), which will help reduce the amount of small and random stutters the server can experience at times.
