remember when OriginMS was a thing and chaos were droppable from mobs & were easily farmable once you made a ulti-mobbing class like bishop ?
    [IMG] [IMG]
If you were to suddenly introduce chaos that would drop from everyday mobs you start to get an influx of gear that most wouldn't even think about chaosing until then and the economy and how we go about mapling everyday start to deteriorate. On OriginMS I made a bishop in a matter of days and I was chaosing anything in sight : 30ing weapons then chaosing for just a little extra stat possibility, chaosing warrior tops instead of scrolling just for str, and many other things that would sound ridiculous to do on Royals. Breaking the economy to make it easier for the lower levels to get started isn't anyway to improve a game, we are a nostalgic server for a reason and this is just not something that we are ready for in our instance.

Chaos scrolls dropped from mobs in the official servers. Can't really use the nostalgic argument here.

They drop from one boss which is good enough for me and I can't even kill it yet. I don't want an influx of chaos scrolls, I feel like it will ruin the economy and have people scrolling random stuff because why hope for a 10/30 to pass (and potentially boom) when you could chaos it

I don't disagree. Just feel like the "nostalgia" argument is the last thing that should be brought up in this scenario and especially against it. Chaos Scrolls dropped from quite a few farmable mobs(including Bone Fish which are already heavily farmed) and multiple bosses that are killed easily and daily around the time they were released.

I remember going out of my way to farm Zombie Mushrooms at a chance for chaos for first job characters around/as early as pirate patch, though I can't recall the exact release of the item/mob list off my head.

honestly I just want the people who want this to happen to say why they think it should. so far the only argument is "it takes too long and too much work to make money to buy a chaos unless you're really lucky, and I want to chaos without working hard or getting really lucky for one". an argument which doesn't even need to be countered because it is so obviously bad and lazy. we shouldn't have to argue why they shouldn't drop from mobs. you should argue why they should

    I agree with this wholeheartedly.

If you want them that bad, you can just gach at shrine every few days, give up your eof's for a leaf (you don't even need to be an attacker for this tbh), or even hunt some bosses that drop it. I can think of one you can do before 4th job, if you were determined.

I'm not rich. My 9 atk self scrolled work gloves can attest to my poorness.

I dont want this. Keep items like Chaos and White scrolls rare. We could use a lot more rare items IMO. Keeps gach fresh and exciting. And keeps the game and its stats and numbers within a reasonable amount.

Sorry, to be honest I'd only played GMS up until around v.4x i think ? And maybe i just wasn't maple-saavy enough to know where to go and what to farm, but i'm pretty sure they never dropped from mobs when I was playing. Maybe I shouldn't have brought the n-word (nostalgic) into it lol, but the main point of my post is that introducing something like that would be game breaking. Perhaps for the lower levels who are starting out its a come-up but to all existing players who have spent the time to have to gather money for WS & Chaos just to have then deflated to the price of an INT scroll.

^ I agree with your stance, I think the only thing about it was nostalgia..? But then again, I never knew monsters dropped it either because I stopped playing actively before pirates came out.

It would still take hard work to find a chaos, with such a low drop rate, which has been stated many times. Its not really being lazy, its just giving more options to the general public instead of just waiting for nx to gacha.(The current options is the laziest option to me)
Like i stated before, there isn't much difference from it dropping and grinding enough money for one. Yeah, you may get lucky and get one earlier than if you had hunted for enough money to buy one, but no one is really being lazy with this suggestion. I think you're jumping to conclusions with your statements. Some people prefer to hunt for their own things, and its also something that was in the original MS.

    The arguments against it are:
    - We believe it will make the game easier than it currently is
    - The economy might suffer
    - Scroll will be available outside the gachapon

    The arguments for:
    - More options to hunt
    - Dont have to use gachapon if you don't plan on buying one
    - More satisfying knowing you've worked hard and hunted for your own scroll

Even with a low drop rate, it's still a ridiculous idea because of how much potential there is for a chaos to drop at all. For example, say it drops from bosses that can be hunted every 6 hours. That's 4 bosses per day x 10 channels, so 40 chances to get a chaos scroll EACH day (from one particular boss, not even all of them). On top of the ones that you can gach, that's way too many being introduced into the system. Guess what happens when chaos scrolls are more readily available? Everyone scrolls with a chaos and not a regular scroll and everyone does things like, chaosing a zak helm, dep star, random equips. Right now, chaoses are only really used for scg, fs, pgc, and certain other items (occasionally) because they're too expensive to do otherwise (which isn't a bad thing because there's a certain level of control), and I don't see how having enough chaos scrolls to chaos a bunch of random stuff will make it better on anyone.

    To directly relate to your arguments;
    1) Bosses are already available and are already hunted. Manon's are camped for example. Are you suggesting more bosses to be implemented? If not I don't see how there would be more options to hunt.
    2) If you don't plan on buying a chaos...? Or gach tickets? Either way, it sounds like you want it to be free.
    3) Maybe? But here's what's not satisfying. When I finally worked hard to get them and realize they're worthless because everyone can get them by hunting. If that's the case, I'd rather just hve the surprise of a gach and be happy with that, to be honest.

Also, it wasn't in any of the early versions of ms that I played in so you can't just automatically assume such.

i'd be less critical of this idea if there was a shortage of chaos, but there's usually a lot on the market. even when there is a shortage, it only lasts a few days before they are all over FM. introducing this alternate method would only add even more chaos in the market because it isn't replacing any current method of obtaining them. prices would collapse and with mesos being so abundant now thanks to absurd npc rates, more chaos scrolls will be available for more players. this means more godly items, which makes it hard for specific equips to stand out, which makes the whole server stale, which makes the game boring. that's my opinion at least.

think of it like significantly increasing the gach rate of BVM. what would happen to iTGC items (scg, facestopmers)? they would go down in value, more people would have them, they wouldn't be as special. the game gets easier. basically what i'm trying to say is you have to think of the consequences of making such drastic changes... sure it would be fun to farm chaos, you'd get a rush when one drops. but is that worth it? i don't think so

    I've read everyone's posts.

Brace yourselves lads. I am about to write an essay on why obtaining chaos scrolls and white scrolls from specific mobs is a very good idea.

Yes chaos or white scrolls should be dropped by mobs. Here is why:

    The Economy

Imagine you are a level 70-100 character. You grinded / pqed your way there and on the way, you voted, gached, and saved up a solid amount of mesos. Now you gached a white scroll or chaos scroll, what happens?
You sell it of course at a super inflated price of 300m. Now in this economy, the only people who can afford to chaos / white scroll are bishops that sell leech or players that have played for a very, very long time.

You sell the scroll and use the mesos to buy gear. But mostly you spend most of your mesos buying leech, because of course, it is the fastest way to level.

What is the result of this?

Well you are giving up a rare item and hard earned mesos to the top % of players that can afford it. In addition, you are giving mesos back to economy in order to level. This creates a huge disparity between a top player and an average player.

Believe me, I've read my guild (New Player) chat where many players (who have gached a WS or chaos) dump all their mesos into leech (some have gotten scammed but that's another issue). They felt broke afterwards and quit because of this. There needs to be a mob where players can self fund themselves or else this viscous cycle of new players gaching and then buying leech will continue which is very unhealthy for the server.

Our economy is becoming like the United States. Only a few people have the income to live comfortably (I.E hp wash, get decent gear) while the rest is suffering near poverty and drowning in student debt. In order to balance this out and not end up like the States, we need to do something to help the middle class (I.E new players).

So what can a casual player (~level 100) do to make mesos so that he can perhaps chaos / white scroll for himself in the future? Absolutely nothing.

Can a new player grind mobs so that he can chaos scroll / white scroll for himself? No.
Can he rival a bishops income and self fund himself? No.
Is it possible for him to get godly gear shown in the accomplishment threads without selling leech? Nope.

Is the lack of mesos and partying (75-135) causing him to feel isolated and want to quit? Yes indeed. < This is personal, I am found ccing at skeles and petris nowadays. Not a single party willing to invite me, all leeching.

This issue is much more complicated than this. But listen to me, to expand the server, there needs to be a way where an average player can fund himself.

    Right now the cycle is;

Gach rare item > sell for inflated price > buy leech

Ultimately, this gives more money to the rich and takes from the poor. It is capitalism. Wonder why basic drugs are so expensive in the States? Million of middle class citizens are dying because they can't afford health care. It is because of the people in power. This is the same thing, let's break the cycle.

I never bought leech. Nor did I ever sell it. Also, you're the person who got banned for harassing other players, maybe that's why they don't want to invite you. http://royals.ms/forum/posts/198196/

all pros were new players at one point.

good. but can a new player grind mobs that drop items to make mesos to buy a chaos/white scroll for himself? yeah, go farm for a godly skanda or red katana. go farm for mithril ores, heartstoppers, godly pirate overalls. level up and go zak and farm gene20s, you can do this as soon as lvl 135 or earlier if you're a bishop. and don't say that the drop rate for these items is too low, because if chaoses were dropped from mobs, the drop rate would be even lower.

yes, there's a thing called the free market and if you take the time to know prices and to go around rooms to buy low and sell high, you will make money. i made at least 90% of my net worth by merching and scrolling.

i've sold leech twice in my life, and both times to a friend for 1hr. i have pretty good stuff. i guess i've never posted my gear in the accomplishment thread, but you get what i mean. am i an outlier? maybe, but that's only because i put more time into this than most.

there's Plenty of resources available on the forums for you to learn how to make money as a low level player. know prices, be smart, and be patient. you'll make money

Why not? Chaos scrolls didn't drop from mobs in v0.62. Chaos scrolls were first released in GMS v0.56, were Gachapon only, and extremely rare. Their next appearance was from Gold Boxes which were dropped from mobs during events in v0.61 and v0.67 which required a Master Key bought from the Cash Shop to be opened. Then in v0.72 they started dropping from certain mobs and bosses.

if Chaos Scrolls were farmable(especially at the mobs that they were in gMS) the price would drop hardcore. Even with the low drop rates Chaos had in gMS with much less people gaching they got as low as 50m. Since Bone Fish are actually farmed here and everyone has access to gachapon I'd be suprised if they were worth more than 30mil after the dust settled. At that point it doesn't even address the "lack of farming at low levels" people have mentioned. It would probably make it more difficult because other scrolls would also drop in price.

Yeah you'd be able to make mesos for a little bit off them, but sooner or later they'd just become the equivalent of a harder to find 30% scroll while giving the server a huge power creep. I feel like it would cause a lot more harm than good both for the current economy of consumables and items and for the longevity of the server itself.

I mixed up my dates then. Nostalgia argument on this subject still becomes pretty flawed with the current content in the server however.

When it comes to decisions like these we should make them with the current state of our server in mind and how much it fits a pre-BB maplestory. Not how faithful something was to v62, as we crossed that line multiple times.

That's fine but the majority of the community is still buying / selling leech. I am not talking about specific cases like yourself.
Maybe they don't want to invite me but the issue is still there. Every skele / petris party is full of leechers instead of grinders. Why do you hate me injeenious? All I tried to do was be your friend even if I did cross the line sometimes. Honestly you got upset because I called you a beautiful Korean girl.

Yes obviously you are an outlier. Of course anybody can make money off the free market. My post addresses the fact that the new player community can fund themselves from chaos / white scrolls dropping from mobs. Obviously they are having a difficult time atm with all the inflation / leeching going on.

I like how you capitalized the word Plenty.
