So, I can’t remember when they were added in global, but what if we got Cygnus knights? For starters, they wouldn’t break the end game because they are level capped, and they are a fun alternative for when you want to play a strong and cool character without worrying about hp washing. Thoughts?
Honestly the arguments for Cygnus Knights can be reasonably compelling compared to other non adventurer classes like Arans, Evans ect. They don’t impact end game and in theory despite being arbitrarily considered non nostalgic, as an Eu player I consider them more important to my nostalgia experience than pirates due to their release dates on Eu servers preceding pirates. I think Eu was the only server to be in this position though.
KoC was a fun class to play, having come from early versions like v1-10 in GMS and later ON EMS beta etc, I would say KoC would be a good addition to the royals server tbh... Besides they aren't game breaking and changes up the pace for some classes, like a rush spell at 3rd job etc. It was all good. oh and their spells are hella cool
I agree. Especially after going to CWK pq today and seeing the pirate boss shooting thunder sharks at me. Brought back the joy of making a ThunderBreaker and doing that exact thing to mobs. Was definitely a nice change up to the regular classes, and with a lv 120cap wouldn't be anything crazy. But seems like No means NO
Nostalgia arguments aside, what do they really add though? A single additional skill and some alternate progression system? I can also see Blaze Wizards being OP as a leeching class with all the extra AP they get. EDIT: I was wrong about Blaze Wizard, but I still think KoC would be a waste outside of being an attack buff mule.
Tbh i would preffer to see a pq based on cygnus knights...and ofc they being the final bosses...something like cwpq2
Cygnus Knights do exist somewhere in this server’s code, since it’s v83-based. They are listed in the party search window as well. That said, it does kind of go against the server’s mission to make them playable. They also do affect the endgame and other stages in certain ways, some of which were mentioned above. - They get extra AP up to level 70, making them stronger than an Explorer of the same level. They could be exploited as leechers in cpq and cpq2 (Dawn Warriors especially) which are already broken as far as leveling speed goes. - Thunder Breakers and Wind Archers.l can become SI and SExmules at lower levels. - Blaze Wizards can sell leech at lower levels and will never go past 120. - Blessing of the Fairy will give everyone 12 extra attack in a server where players are already quite strong by comparison to old maple. While we’re at it let’s add Aran and her insane DPM. All in all as much as I like the Cygnus Knights the server just isn’t balanced to include them and it would affect people’s perception of nostalgia. But you can still dress up as Cygnus and her trusted knights with NX so that’s pretty cool!
I'd say they are kinda under-powered if anything? Wind Archer doesn't have SE, Thunder Breaker only got SI at lvl 110 (and no TL) so you might as well make a bucc instead to have TL too. Blaze Wizard could be good at stuff like ulu 2 leech but with it's nerfed meteor and without lvl 130 ele wands it will be almost impossible to 1 hit endgame maps like petri Night Walker can have good damage with SE but there are no bosses at lvl 120, if you try a lvl 140 boss like zak you'd get a massive -20% damage penalty (cause 20 lvls less) so your damage will be lower than your average lvl 135 NL. Dawn Warrior got no stance also so it will be pretty trash in bossing They will mostly just be used as mules for that atk buff, without it they are almost useless and can only be cpq/ulu 2 leech mules. I played some private servers before that removed that atk buff and almost nobody there played cygnus, the lvl 120 limit is just too big of a disadvantage. So there's no point in adding them since almost nobody will play them anyway and it will kinda break nostalgia
I played GMS /EMS since v.2x ~ v.99+-. I feel like KoCs are not nostalgic at all. This is when it all started to wreck. I wouldn't mind a brand new class being developed that is more suitable to the original explorers' skill sets and kits. But all those Nex-n has developed so far post pirates are a complete money-sucking garbage, and dps chart changers. Another possible solution for refreshment is maybe adding a custom animation for skills. The game SRCcode does have to evolve eventually, just not the way Nex branch did.
I will never understand the nostalgia argument. This server is so warped beyond the point of ever appropriately reflecting any nostalgic period of the original MapleStory games. Fast travel? HP wash? The limitless opportunity to henehoe beyond your wildest imagination? So I don't understand why y'all out here fronting like you have a problem with Cygnus Knights (v73) because of nostalgia while gladly farming away on Ulu City (v91) without batting an eye. Not to mention we also have Dojo (v75), MCPQ II (v75), Malaysia (v77), and Neo City (v83), which all came after Cygnus Knights as well. And just to clarify, I'm not in support of adding Cygnus Knights. I don't particularly care either way, but I do think they're pointless. On top of that, every single admin both past and present have specifically expressed disinterest in adding Cygnus Knights. Why are we bumping old feedback threads for no reason?
