Welcome to the Dark Knight Guide.
Here's a quick introduction on what a Dark Knight is. Spearman/Dragon Knight/Dark Knight are one of three warriors classes available for you to play as. Their main weapon consist of either Spears or Pole Arms. They pride themselves with their long reaching attacks as a melee class, high damage output and one of the most useful skills in the game, Hyper Body. This guide will cover most of the basic and common information and builds that you may have questions about and some helpful tidbits that will help you through your journey at making a Dark Knight. Dragon Knights are commonly referred to as DK and Dark Knight are commonly referred to as Drk. This guide will focus more on the more optimal builds of Dark Knights.

    • Very high natural HP
    • Able to tank bosses/mobs at a low level
    • Requires little to no HP Washing for optimal performance thanks to Hyper Body
      • This makes Dark Knights a very popular option for players to start off with
      • You can begin HP Washing at a much later level than most classes do so training is less hindered throughout
      • You can reach maximum HP potential at a lower level than any other class in game (18,750 base HP)
    • Highly sought after in parties thanks to high DPS and Hyper Body
      • Many people prioritize Dark Knights over all other warrior classes and many other classes
      • With new bosses potentially coming into the server, the demand for Dark Knights will rise exponentially
      • Training at later levels usually includes parties and Dark Knights are among the most popular
    • Simple Equips/AP build
      • With no secondary skill needed to wear certain equips, all you need is Str
    • Very fast training
    • Weapons/Skills look cool
    • Able to leech at a low level
      • Dragon Roar is a great full map skill that's perfect for lower level leeching like at Wild Boars and Brown Teddies
      • The lower level your Dragon Knight is, the higher XP your leech will get
      • Only Dragon Knights have a full map skill at third job
    • Long attacking range for a melee class
    • Very high DPS at all range levels
    • Requires little core skills to start up after job advancement
      • At third job, once you max out Crusher/Fury, you're all set
      • At fourth job, Berserk is a huge upgrade in DPS and can instantly put your on par with the best low level fourth job classes

    • Berserk can catch you off guard and make it hard to tank end game bosses
      • With the new source code, Berserk's minimum range for effectiveness will be upgraded to 50% instead of 40%
      • You'll have a hard time tanking bosses such as Horntail and Zakum where they can knock you out in 1-2 hits
    • Accuracy can be an issue if you're low level
    • Pole Arms and Spears are very slow
      • The end game for Dark Knights (Ski Sky) is only a Normal (6) speed
      • All weapons 80+ are Slow (7) and (8), among the slowest end game weapon ranges in the server
    • End game spear (Sky Ski) is very hard to obtain at a clean, godly range. (Gachapon only weapon)
      • Many have sought after a godly Ski Sky for quite a while, but hopefully with a higher player base or new content, this will change in the future
      • Only available in Showa Spa Gachapon
      • Next viable option for end game weapon are spears that are Slow (7) speed
    • Not the top 3 DPS in game
      • Not surprisingly, this issue is not limited to just Dark Knights, but for many classes that are below this threshold

Typically, you'll want to focus on Str for your entire career. However, if you're in a pinch for accuracy, put some Dex on to get those extra points of accuracy to hit monsters that you're training on or hunting. Dex gives a total of 0.8 accuracy per point, but give very little in terms of attack range so add Dex very carefully. There are a pleothora of equips, scrolls and potions that provide you with all the accuracy you will need as a Dark Knight so by the end game, you won't even need to have any base Dex.

    4 Base Dex
As the build name suggest, you'll be putting all your AP into Str. This build should only valid if you're funded, which means you'll need either leech yourself the first beginning levels or get yourself some equips and weapons that give you a substantial accuracy increase if you're planning on training it all the way from scratch. Luckily, there are many ways to subsidize your accuracy needs which will be explained later in the guide in the equips section. If you're serious about your Dark Knight's End Game DPS, you'll want to run this build and AP Reset all of your Dex away in place for Str.

~40 Base Dex (Until late 3rd job)
Many of you newer players reading this guide will most likely opt for this build. As a new starting off player that would love nothing more than to relive your nostalgia as one of your favorite caped crusaders, accuracy will be a problem and you won't have the fundings to do much about it other than incorporating Dex into your build, which is alright. AP Resets are a thing and can take out any unwanted Dex in the future for Str. Remember that each Dex point gives you 0.8 accuracy each. For a Low Dex Build, don't expect to go over 40 Dex because at around 120 accuracy, you should be able to hit almost everything 100% of the time. During the end of your 3rd job, try to take out that extra Dex and put it into Str.

~80 Base Dex (Until later 3rd job)
The classic build for many of us back when Maplestory was in this current version. With the variety of assets and knowledge that everyone can access and utilize in this version, this build is not recommended to anyone that's willing to do a bit of research before making a Dark Knight. That much Dex will severely hinder your damage as you go up in levels and at a certain point, you'll have more accuracy than you'll ever need at any point of your job. If you're in a huge rush for accuracy, try and ask around for tips, but don't carelessly use your AP into Dex without having a solid game plan because that will cost you later.

For your first job, the main skill you'll want to max out first and foremost is Improving Max HP Increase. No matter what situation you're in, you'll always want more HP. The earlier you max this out, the more benefits you'll be able to reap from this skill. After that, go for Slash Blast. This skill does more damage than Power Strike when hitting more than 2 monsters and during early level training, you'll be hitting much more than 2 monsters. After that, go ahead and max out Power Strike for a good 1v1 skill. From there, you'll have maxed out your core first job skills. Put the extra SP you have into anything you want, it won't matter in the end. Be sure to use them all because you won't be able to advance to a Spearman if you don't.

For your second job, you'll want to max out which every mastery you want between spears and pole arms. For the sake of this guide, I'll be choosing spears, but feel free to replace spears with pole arm in this section. Mastery will really help out your terrible minimum damage range and make training a bit easier thanks to more consistent hits. Leave Spear Mastery at level 19 because at level 20, you'll only get an accuracy boost. After that, you'll want to get at least 6 Spear Booster for a +2 in weapon speed. This will really help offset the slowness of your attacks and give you even more DPS. At level 6, you have a solid minute of booster which is a decent amount to start off with. Work on Hyper Body next after you've put in 3 SP in Iron Wall. If you're using potions that recover a percentage, you'll save a bit of money on that thanks to Hyper Body. After you've maxed out Hyper Body, continue on with Spear Booster until it's maxed. Once you're finished with all of the core spear skills, work on Pole Arm Mastery and Pole Arm Booster. This will allow you to change weapons whenever you want if you happen to find a better pole arm later in the game.

The reason why I'm leaving off Final Attack: Spear and Final Attack: Pole Arm is because it's beyond useless. Your main attacking during second job is Slash Blast, which hits 130% on every single monster you happen to attack. Final Attack is a passive skill that actives right after you use Slash Blast and although it hits 250% when maxed, that 250% will be spread out to every single monster you attack. They changed this in later versions to actually benefit you rather than hinder you, but in this version, stay far, far away from putting any SP into Final Attack. You'll hear no complaints from me because this will allow you to max out both mastery and booster skills for both spears and pole arms.

I recommend this skill build rather than going with spear skills first because Dragon Fury (Pole Arm) is a better grinding skill than Spear Crusher due to it's faster attack speed. You'll want to max Dragon Fury (Pole Arm) first as your main attacking skill and work on Dragon Roar after that to have a skill to help you mob up all the monsters. From there, work on Element Resistance to give yourself some added defense in tanking certain monster attacks and work on your Spear Crusher. Once you have all four skills maxed out, feel free to use the extra skill points into anything you desire.

After Spear Crusher/Dragon Fury (Pole Arm)...that's pretty much it. Dragon Roar is just a flashy full map attack that's only useful if you feel like leeching lower level players which I will get to later in this guide. However, Dragon Roar is used later to decrease a chunk of your HP to reach Berserk level. Element Resistance is sort of neat, but the majority of the time, you'll be taking touch damage, not magic damage. However, this will prove to be very useful at bosses that cast elemental magic such as Horntail and Zakum. Dragon Blood is a decent buff, but Warrior Elixirs do the exact same thing with no drawbacks and lasts longer. Power Crash is never needed for any boss or training and Sacrifice does less than a full powered Spear Crusher. Sacrifice is a bit useful at level 1 if you don't feel like using Dragon Roar to decrease your HP for Berserk level. Sadly, this is where training gets longer and more dull, but the best is yet to come.

In terms of useful skills, third job is a bit lacking. During third job, you'll gain access to your best and final skill for your career, Fury and Crusher. You'll be using this for the majority of your time playing from here on out. I truly think that the Spear Crusher First Build is the best because you only need to attack 3 monsters to fully utilize Spear Crusher's 1530% total possible damage output whereas Spear/Pole Arm Fury needs up to 6 monsters just to deal up to 1500% total possible damage output. At level 15, Spear Crusher will 3 enemies 2 times, but add another level and you'll be hitting 1 enemy 3 times. I suggest you leave Spear Crusher at level 15 and save up 6 SP until you reach level 21 where you will hit 2 enemies 3 times, which will lead to higher damage output with less enemies needed to maximize damage. After maxing out Spear Crusher, get 1 SP in Dragon Fury (Spear) for a reliable swing attack to mob. If you're planning on doing a Solo Zakum, max out Dragon Fury (Pole Arm)/(Spear) to hit the top left arm.

And here is where we meet with our end game skills. This skill build can be a bit tricky, but if you follow through and saved a bit for Berserk 20/30, this is a solid build you should go with. Rather than starting out with 1 SP after advancing job, you get 3. The first SP should go to Rush because it'll help you a lot while training. The other two should go to Beholder. Rush requires a prequest to unlock. Luckily, Beholder is default Dark Knight skills so no quests or mastery books required. Beholder is a great skill to start off with because more mastery is always great to have and at this point, you should be thinking about investing some money into HP washing for Berserk.

Once you've finished off with Beholder, have a good look at Berserk. I will have a section dedicated to this skill and help explain and guide you through this skill to the best of my abilities, but for now, unlock Berserk and start adding SP into it. Increasing DPS in a simple percentage manner is great, especially when fourth job training revolves mainly on what monster you can effectively and reliably two/three shot. Berserk 30 might be a bit difficult to get a hold of especially with the high price tag on it, but with more and more people hunting Horntail day after day, it shouldn't be difficult to save up and purchase it with money you made while training/daily NX.

At this point, you should be well acquainted with other fourth job class players that you may not need to upgrade Maple Warrior. In that case, go for Power Stance next. Great skill to have and makes training more streamline. This is especially help at bosses such as Zakum where it's magic attack will continuous smack you around like a rag doll. If you, however, do not have other you can depend on for Maple Warrior, spend a few level to get at least level 9 maple Warrior. At level 10, the time limit is extending so there's no need to upgrade any further unless you have the money to purchase yourself a Maple Warrior 20 book.

Start adding some points in Achilles if you've finished most of your core skills. Great skill for further tanking hits to keep safely within Berserk range.

The rest of the skills aren't very useful and will become even less useful (except for Hex) once the new source is released, but as of writing this guide, this is how they function. Hex of the Beholder is an active skill that will buff you for a random stat like accuracy and weapon attack. When the weapon attack buff I chosen, the weapon attack buff will take over whatever weapon attack potion you will have. Not very good. However, the release of the new source will have the weapon attack buff of Hex be stackable with your weapon attack potion so stay tuned for that. Aura of the Beholder is quite nice as of right now. This skill will continuously recover you for a certain amount every several seconds, but the more interesting thing about this skill in this server is that if you die, you will instantly be resurrected when Aura recovers you. This might be fixed with the release of the new source. Rush is a great skill at level 1, but for only 50% more distance compared to level 1 for the cost of 29 more SP isn't very appealing. Monster Magnet basically does what Rush does even better. However, if you were to use Monster Magnet along with another warrior who happens to have Monster Magnet, you can disable Cancel Melee at certain bosses like Zakum. Again, may be fixed post new source. Hero's Will is a skill that'll give you protection from seduce. Currently, only two monsters in the server casts seduce (Horntail and Lyka) and people don't require it in order to join Horntail parties so you can finish up the quest if you want, but you don't absolutely need this skill.

These numbers were provided by the AyumiLove database. 1ms is 1/1000 of a second. If you're unsure about what speed your weapon is, check the MapleRoyals Library via the main page and it will tell you. Spear Crusher speed changes once you past level 16. It becomes a bit slower after it reaches 3 hits to an enemy. I'm not going to add Final Attack. Rush attacks faster when there are no targets, but there aren't many situations where this will be helpful, so I will be leaving that out. Your standard job booster skill will -2 speed levels and Speed Infusion will -4 speed levels. Booster and Speed Infusion do not stack with each other, but will after the new source is released. However, Speed Infusion will give -2, rather than -4.

This section will be covering all the different equips that most Dark Knight will most likely go through. I'll be going through weapons, armor and various accessories that you should keep in mind while training to become a Dark Knight and beyond. Many of these equips will be focusing on maximizing weapon attack and Str because Dex is only needed for accuracy and adds little to damage range. If you're having trouble looking for a specific piece of equipment or scroll, always use the MapleRoyals Library section via the home page as a reference guide to anything you may need to obtain. There are a few items that aren't on that page that are gachapon exclusive, but I'll be covering those in this section if that's the case. I'll be going from lowest to highest in terms of equip level.

HP washing is a method of producing more HP by taking advantage of the fact that for each 10 Int you have when you level up, you will get 1 MP. Because of this, Int gear is quite expensive. Start wearing your Int gear early on so you can take advantage of all the added MP. Luckily for Dark Knights, you really don't need much extra MP to get to an optimal level of HP thanks to Improve Max Hp Increase, Hyper Body and the small amount of MP required to wash 1 AP of HP. Here is a some numbers and formulas you should you should be aware of when HP washing a Dark Knight:
The main number you want to reach is 18,750 base HP because after Hyper Body, you'll ave already reach the 30 HP cap. Assuming that you won't start bossing seriously until you've maxed out most of your core skills, a level 150 Dark Knight without washing will have around 9,700 HP. You'll need about 9,750 HP to hit your goal. Each HP wash will give a warrior, on average, 52 HP per wash which means you'll need at least 748 MP to achieve that level. For funded people, this isn't too hard. For others, this might a bit of a struggle. Try and pick up some equips that have scrolls that provide Int to them like Helmets and Overalls and figure out a way to get them as low level as possible to ensure maximum MP bonus. Remember that the number you want to reach before bossing is 748. When HP washing, you'll want to add one AP into HP first and then start taking out MP via AP Resets into HP. After you've run out of MP, put back that one point into Str and you'll have HP washing successfully. Good luck!

This section will be covering where I suggest most warriors should level up and only for leveling up. Money making locations will be covered in another section of this guide so if you're just looking for areas that are more skewed to making money rather than XP, keep scrolling down. Otherwise, read ahead. Just a heads up if you're comparing rates to other, the speed in which you level up is dictated in large part by how much funding you've put in making a Dark Knight. If you feel that you're leveling up a bit slower than you think you should be going, feel free to train in the previous spot.

The best map to train at Slime is Victoria Road: Tree Dungeon, Forest Up North I, also known as Slime Tree. Starting out, Slime have a great HP/XP ratio and you'll need that because your damage range is horrendously unstable. Keep a look out for a Gold Surfboard because that's going to be your main weapon for quite a while as explained above. Another thing you might want to collect 100 of is the Slime Omok piece. Make one for yourself when you collect enough!

The best map to train at is Hidden Street: Pig Farm. This is a mini dungeon located a few maps east of Henesys. Warning! You won't be able to use any potions while inside the mini dungeon. It's a glitch for this map so go outside and use potions. This is a solid place to train at at this level range. The map is small so traveling around and smacking those pigs won't be too tough. Drops aren't really worth picking up other than Leather (which can sell for 100k), so just power through them for the most part. Much like the Slimes, these too also drop Omok pieces. Collect them if you want!

Alternatively, you could start training here at levels 15-20, but that's for slightly funded players with decent accuracy/weapon attack gear. They have a knockback rate of 30 so training here can be a bit frustrating. Try and train in a circle formation to ensure optimal spawn. One drop you should keep yours eyes peeled for is the Blue Jewelry Shoe. A really nice one (+5 Int or more( could bring you a nice sum of money. Very helpful for starting up.
The map I most recommend for these guys is Land of the Wild Boars. This map is flooded with spawn. Watch out for the Jr. Boogies that occasionally pop up when you enter the map. One method of dispatching them is by attacking the stone pillars on the top of the map. This will kill all the Jr. Boogies for a long time. Wild Boars have an amazing drop table that include Power Crystal Ores, Leather and various Maple weapons including the Maple Impaler, one of your key weapons later on. I recommend staying here for quite a while because not only does this place give great XP, the mesos rate is quite good espeically for starting players. The Mesos Rate here can get upwards of 10M/Hour and much more during event when they have a special drop given out to all monsters.

There is a map called Sahal III that spawns on Sand Rats on the very bottom of the map that's completely flat. These are amazing for XP because of their ratio, but the drop table isn't as amazing compared to Wild Boars and you'll need to go a bit out of your way to reach here. You'll need to head to Orbis then take a transfer trip to Arient and walk a few maps more, but once you're here, the XP is worth it. While the drop table isn't amazing and stocked full of interesting items, they do drop Bow for Attack 60% scrolls and a Brown Doros Robe, which if godly (8+ Int), can sell for a lot of mesos.

Terrace Hall is the place to be during almost every second job starting class training. The spawn is great and the map is relatively small. Mob them up and lay the hurt on them. No drops really worth mentioning, just keep it pushing and these levels will go by quick, but this is where training get a whole lot rougher.
You can access these through the Haunted Mansion in New Leaf City. You need to take the black limo on the left and enter the mansion through the gates. Then, travel to the left door and up the staircase directly to the door on top. After that, go into the top left door and you'll be in a room with four Nightmare spawns. These spawn rather quickly and like most monsters in the Haunted Mansion, the XP/HP ratio is very good. The room is small and flat which is perfect for Spearmen. Keep an eye out for godly Red Starlight (10 Int clean) and Maple Pops in case you need them. Otherwise, just power grind these levels away.

Best place to grind is through the Kerning City Subway and walk a few portals to the right until you reach the map with only Wraiths. You might miss a few times against these, but the spawn is absolutely worth the misses. Gather them all up and wreak havoc with Slash Blast. Thanks to the huge spawn, you'll be utilizing every single potential Slash Blast hit which means more XP. Nothing to look out for here except some Dark Crystal Ores for your third job advancement, but even then, you'll only need 10. If you need a change in pace, switch between this place to break the tedium.
Forest of Golem should bring up some nostalgic memories for some and nightmares for others. Luckily, this map isn't very crowded and gives, in my opinion, the best XP a warrior can get while soloing. The golems might be tough to hit right when you turn 50 so stick to Wraiths if you can't hit them or have a Zakum Helmet. The spawn is so extremely thick that you don't ever have to worry about pacing back and worth to collect mobs. Plus, you can teleport to the Free Market, leave and you'll be right on top of the map to start over your path of downward destruction. Mixed Golems drop Gloves for Attack 60% scrolls which is a nice payout for such a good training locations. The mesos rate here is pretty good too, but walking back and forth from this map and back to town can be a hassle. You could even train here during early levels of third job!
Very fun party quest that takes a bit of getting use to. It starts out with a party of 3 or more and you go around the portals to rooms with boxes. Break those open, kill the monsters that pop out, collect the tickets, get to Room 16, turn them in and you get XP based on how many tickets you have collect. Drops are pretty scarce, the most valuable rewards being rare summoning bags and Overall Int 10% scrolls. The monsters inside of the party quests have a chance of dropping Red Ciders which can sell for a good amount in the Free Market. You mostly want to come here if you're bored and want some XP, but during off hours, it'll be hard to find a party.
The only reason you should even consider training here is because you're in a party with another person and you enjoy playing on flat maps. Otherwise, Forest of Golem is a much better training locations. You don't have to deal with the extreme crowds there and the drops are slightly better. Nonetheless, the two platform map makes partying somewhat encouraged so be sure to team up with perhaps another fellow warrior and train on those two rows. Alternatively, you can purchase leech here, but it's not very good compared to regular grinding.

At this point, you're still developing your third job skills and at an early level, they're not very useful. Keep at it at Forest of Golem and try and muddle through these levels. These were called the 'Hell Levels' back then for a reason.

Here's where things get a bit interesting. If you feel like you're not hitting often enough as you should, go back a few spots before and come back later. Wolf Spiders are really, really good training, but this is the point in your training where monsters can do a ton of damage to you. If you don't keep track of your HP often, you will die. These can hit upwards of 1,200 each touch so be very careful. Luckily, you have Hyper Body and hopefully you've HP washed a bit because this is a good time to do so. Unlike other training locations where you can dispatch of a monster in a few hits, these guys will take multiple hits. Some see this as a bad thing, but I see it as the best possible scenario. Wolf Spiders give a huge chunk of XP per kill and that makes up for the high HP. You'll constantly be dishing out DPS rather than wasting all the potential DPS you could have done if you had much more spawn in a map like Forest of Golem. My method of going about Wolf Spiders is start with the top two left areas of the caverns, then the top right areas of the caverns and then hop down the pit and just spam Slash Blast. This should ensure maximum spawn rate. The drops here are quite nice. Spear for Attack 30% scrolls, albeit extremely rare, is the best drop so keep a look out for those. NPC drops get very nice here as the average equip can sell for around 100k each.

The best place to fight these at is at Aqua Road: Dangerous Sea Gorge II. That map has a lot of spawn, but the platforming can be a bit tricky. While this location may not be much better than Wolf Spiders, it is a nice change of pace to be traveling around underwater. Keep in mind that the only way to travel/swim faster underwater is to have more speed. Jump does nothing underwater. Drop are decent for this level range. Be prepared to collect a good amount of Gloves for Attack 60% scrolls and some level 80 Thief gear. This is a great map for a party if you can manage to find one.

The only map with just these two spawn is Ulu Estate II. Map formation is great! Two flat platform accessible via rope ladder and a safe spot for when you come into the map. Grinding here is straight forward, but it might be a bit tough to get a map here because this is a popular leeching locations. Most equips here are just standard NPC fodder, but keep a look out for Red Craven. A really nice godly one can fetch hundreds of millions. Slygies also drop Overall for Luk 60% scrolls. Much like Squids/Rissel Squids, a party is nice so you don't have to continuously climb up and down the rope.

The very last map of Mushroom Shrine is where Dreamy Ghost and occasionally Black Crow reside. In order to train here, you need to get rid of Black Crow or he will mess you up. Hopefully, you have friend in high places that'll be more than happy to dispatch them if it ever comes to that. This is the map to train at for almost all classes. The flat map and solid HP/XP ratio is amazing and drops, while they could be a little better, are worth noting. Crossbow for Attack 30% and Earring for Dex 70% are among the few item you should look out for. Other than that, keep at eye out for your HP level and bring a Priest to help you lure and cast Holy Symbol on you. Training here all the way to fourth job might seem like a lot, but it's worth it. You can always mix it up and try the other place above if you feel a bit tired and bored of Dreamy Ghosts.
The best map to grind these at is Leafre: Destroyed Dragon Nest. While the spawn isn't something you're use to, the respawn rate is insane. The average respawn time for Jr. Newties and Nest Golems ranges around 3 seconds. That almost twice as fast as other training locations. What I like to do at this map is stay in the middle with two spawn to the left and right. Just hit them with Crusher and repeat. Most of the time, the adjacent two spawn will have already spawned before you can even get 2-3 hits off. This is a great area if you don't like moving too much. Just walk around occasionally and pick up some drops. Nothing too stellar comes from Jr. Newties, but when it comes to Nest Golems, it's a whole other story. Nest Golems drop both an ideal Bowmaster's end game weapon and a Corsair's end game weapon being the White Nisrock and Concerto respectively. Both can fetch hundreds of million if godly and can really help out your future end game gear funding.
Grind at the map that only spawns Petrifighters with the four platforms. Imagine Ulu Estate II, but with twice as many platforms, you get Petrifighters. The XP here isn't amazing and is pretty much on par with other locations unless you have a good amount of funding and can just barely chip off an extra attack per kill. Partying is highly recommended because this map is huge and full of spawn. You might struggle a bit with surviving if you're not HP washing. Safe spots are located near the portal and was recently changed so that people don't constantly die after logging in. Like the Nest Golem, these also drop the White Nisrock, but other than that, their drop table is pretty weak and consist mostly of NPC fodder. This is a good place to mix up training once in a while.

Fourth job training mostly revolves around monsters that you would be able to 1-3 shot most of the time reliably. I'm not really going to put down what level range you should be at because at this point, funding is going to factor in a lot when it comes to training. I will be providing a small guide on how to kill the top three bosses of this server.

[IMG] Training here is pretty much the same as third job except now you'll have much more mastery and you'll closely start to close the gap from 3-4 shot to 2 shot. Once you've past that point, you should move on to other monsters to train on.
[IMG] Once you start to two shot them fairly often, Petrifighters is a good place to revist
[IMG] Map is very similar to Ulu Estate II. You'll need to pass a bunch of quests before gaining access to this area. Some notable drops are Power Crystal Ores, Power Stance 20 and Red Cravens, which mentioned above can sell for a nice amount.
[IMG] Much like Chief Qualm Guardians, you'll need to do some quests to gain access to Road to Oblivion 2. Spawn is decent, but drops aren't something to write home about. Nothing really notable here. Just mostly NPC fodder.
[IMG] These guys can give you a string of good luck if you grind here for a while. Overall Dex 60% scrolls can add up and perfect clean Dark Nisrocks can make people can bananas and mangos over them. Here's a good map rotation given by @Michael: Solo with HS mule Bishop hanging from ladder only. You don't need to clear the bottom two rows of the map, just the two top rows in a small circle, and having the Bishop on the map as your leecher as opposed to any other character saves the 5-10seconds it takes to keep going to the FM every two minutes to rebuff (saves the equivalent of about a full HS worth of training over the course of an hour). Off of memory, this appears to be better exp/hr than duo Petris/Skeles w/1hit mage, and is better than any of the solo exp/hr that mecheez posted even after adjusting for HS. It also matches closely with the duo exp/hr rates he posted, but you require a 128+ Bishop with ToT quests done instead of a duo partner. In order to achieve this much exp/hr, you have to be able to make a full rotation of the above circle at least three times per HS (so forty seconds per rotation). This is possible if you 2hit all the mobs, and are focusing; if you lose focus/get distracted, it becomes difficult to finish the third rotation and you'll have to pull all the mobs along the lower platform to the right without killing them to receive HS before taking them out.[IMG]
Krexel is a big tree boss with attackable eyes that you can fight twice a day. Essentially, it's just a standing target that you can wail on without much repercussion. By this time, you should have maximized your core skills (Berserk and Beholder). It does have a unique drop in the form of Almighty Rings which give a good chunk of Str bonus as explained above. This is a great boss to duo with friends and other people along with multiple buffs. Very easy boss and very easy XP. Highly recommend doing Krexel twice a day.
Very unique boss with a highly valued helmet drop. To fight Zakum, you'll need to finish the Zakum Prequests where a guide on the forum will tell you how to complete. When you first enter and spawn Zakum using an Eye of Fire, you'll mostly want to concentrate on trying to attack as many arms as possible with Crusher. Maneuver yourself around and find your favorite location to attack three arms at once to ensure a fast kill. Once those are down, focus on the body. Some people with max HP like to tank the body the entire time to avoid being stunned. This might not be a good idea for those of you who have low HP and max Berserk, but you should be able to tank it if you're careful with your HP. Dispatch of all the bodies and you'll have defeated Zakum.

    Horntail section coming soon...

This section will explain some methods that you can use to make money. Of course, the best way to make money is to start a Bishop/Arch mage and sell leech to other people, but that doesn't mean Dark knights can't make money.I'm only going to be covering locations for lower level players because after playing a while in the server, you'll get a good feel on where you should be making money. I'll be explaining why each location is good, drops to look out for and the picture of each monster in question. Low Tier will be defined as first and second job seeing as how similar they are.

    [IMG][IMG][IMG]
[IMG][IMG] Solid place to start making some money. Thanks to the high level of spawn, it's not too hard to get enough supples here to sell for money in order to afford some scrolls for your upcoming weapons and potions. Plus, you're also looking out for your Maple spear and it's a great place to train. Be sure to look out for Maple Soul Searchers, Maple Kandayos, Maple Impalers, Leather and Power Crystal Ores.
[IMG][IMG] While not great for training because of the lack of spawn, these guys have some amazing scroll drops. many of these srrolls are considered uncommon so the prices can be pretty high up there. Be sure to go to the map that focuses more on Stone Masks because the Stone masks drops the majority of the nice scrolls. Be sure to look out for Earring Int 60%, Spear Atk 60%, Cape Int 60% and Staff Matk 60%
[IMG][IMG] Flaming Raccoon is only here for the Orange Ski drop. Once you get a decent pair of Orange Skis, head over to the map that has exclusively Cloud Foxes because the rest of the drops are from Cloud Fox drop table. The map is quite big so utilize all the teleport statues inside of the map for quick access to every platform. This map is built more for range classes, but you should be fine as a close range class. Diao Chan Swords can be pricey because it's one of the best weapons for low level warriors (Fast (4) speed and very respectable weapon attack) and it also provide Int for HP washing. Cloud Foxes are one of the only monsters that drop 30% scrolls and they drop a really nice one (2H sword). Be sure to look out for Diao Chan Swords, Orange Skis, 2H Sword 10% and 2H Sword 30%.
[IMG][IMG] Head to the map that only spawns Jr. Wraiths and you'll be greeted with hoards of tiny little ghosts. Map layout is very similar to Bubblings and while the drops aren't spectacular, there sure are a lot of them to make this place worth mentioning. Both of the Mage robes can fetch a nice price if the Int is close to godly level. People don't often buy Helmet Dex 100% too often, but you can always use them for sell them for a bargain price. Power Crystal Ores is always a welcome drop to any monster's drop table. Be sure to look out for White Doros Robe, Brown Dorness Robe, Helmet Dex 100% and Power Crystal Ores.
[IMG][IMG] These should be go to locations for any class to make a bit of mesos. Solid contributions to the mesos rate are classics like Power Crystal Ores and Gloves Atk 60%. Godly Str Red Barbays are popular for a sub end game overall for Pirates. Be sure to look out for Red Barbay, Maple Shield, Gloves Atk 60% and Power Crystal Ores.
[IMG][IMG] Master Chronos are one of those 'break the tedium' locations to make mesos at. They drop one thing and one thing only of value, Helmet Dex 60%. They can sell well over 10m and people buy them often enough for you to consider stopping by here to train a bit. Spawn is all over the place no matter which map you use. You've been warned. Be sure to look out for Helmet Dex 60%.
[IMG][IMG] To locate our palette swapped version of our favorite Slime, you'll need to traverse to Showa and enter through the Spa doors into the only map that houses these red blobs. Drops aren't great, but luckily there's an NPC nearby so you can NPC fodder more often. Fallen Leaf Earrings are special because they are the only earring in the server that comes with clean Magic Attack that is dropped by a regular monster. This makes considering Red Slimes something you should keep in the back of your mind. Be sure to look out for Fallen Leaf Earrings and Power Crystal Ores.
[IMG][IMG] Getting to Dead Mines can be a big pain. Luckily, Teleport Rocks help out with this a lot. NPC rates here are amazing. Lots of different weapon drops means a big payout each trip to the merchant. Add along godly Thief tops and the ever present Power Crystal Ore drop and you're already looking to make a huge profit. What really seperates this place from many other places is the Zombie's Lost Tooth drop. These can sell for 1m per 200 stack thanks to this etc item being tradable for XP at any level. Be sure to look out for Red China, Brown Studded Top, Power Crystal Ores and Zombie's Lost Tooth.
[IMG][IMG] As I've explained above, Zombie Lost Tooth is a nice drop, but there's another version of those teeth that are much more valuable, Zombie's Lost Gold Teeth. You need 30 of these in order to gain access to fight Zakum and they maintain their high value thanks to Eye of Fires which can only be obtained if you turn in 30 Zombie's Lost Gold Teeth. As you can expect, these gold teeth aren't very common, but they're common enough for these guys to be one of the best low tier money making methods for all classes. If you're looking for quick mesos, this is an exceptional find. Be sure to look out for Maple Kandiva Bow, Zombie's Lost Tooth, Zombie's Lost Gold Tooth and Dex Crystal Ores.
[IMG][IMG] These guys drop a lot of scrolls. They're also pretty big targets. Recently, the map that housed Skeleton Soldiers was bugged, but thanks to an update, people can freely access these monsters. The maps aren't packed to the brim like few other maps are so you'll really have to work to get those scrolls. Be sure to look out for Maple Dark Mate, Gloves Atk 60%, Staff Matk 60%, Claw Atk 60% and Staff Matk 10%
[IMG][IMG] The gigantic duo is back, but this time, they're here to make you money. Not only are they amazing XP, but they also have decent drops. Along side those two Maple weapons, they also drop Gloves for Atk 60%. Forest of Golem is your map of choice when hunting these titans. An NPC run can easily bring you over 10m per trip. Be sure to look out for Maple Nishada, Maple Soul Rohan and Gloves Atk 60%.
[IMG][IMG] Amazing HP/XP ratio. It's a shame that they only spawn 6 in a room. Heartstoppers drop very often from these guys and they sell extremely well and for a good price. This room can get crowded because of the previous reason I've stated so only come here if you'd like to try this place out or would like a change of pace. Be sure to look out for Heartstoppers and Wand Matk 60%.
[IMG][IMG] Just look at all those level 64 Maple weapons! They even drop your mid game weapon. Any one of those that are godly can sell for 10s of millions. They also drop a nice uncommon scroll (Earring Int 60%). Like many other places mentioned on this list, these aren't packed and filled to the brim with spawn. Try and maneuver around as best you can with these guys. Be sure to look out for Maple Soul Spear, Maple Nishada, Maple Kandiva Bow, Earring Int 60% and Leather.

Berserking is the act of attacking while being in the range of Berserk. After the new source, Berserk will have an activation rate of 50% or below so that means you'll have to wisely manage your HP at all times. A common strategy is to setup your Auto HP at the range where the monster damage minus half your total HP is (For example, monster hits 3,000 and you have 30,000 HP. Set your Auto HP to 12,000 or below). Then, use a potion that will heal ideally the exact same amount that the monster you're training on or hunting will hit. This can be replicated at bosses as well, but many tend to stick to not using Berserk to ensure survival. After a while, you'll be able to adjust to see what fits your playstyle more. Most Dark Knights just stick with Melted Cheese and heal accordingly. Here are some HP potions to keep in mind when Berserking:
    • [IMG] Barbarian Elixir: Heals 1,500
    • [IMG] Ice Cream Pop: Heals 2,000
    • [IMG] Melted Cheese: Heals 4,000
    • [IMG] Reindeer Milk: Heals 5,000

    • Use Speed Infusion at an early level to speed up training. Speed Infusion is a 4th Job Buccaneer skill that decrease cooldown for all your skills.
    • Orbis Exchange Quest give you 2,000 XP per exchange for each time you turn 100 etc. items of a certain kind to Staff Sergeant Charlie. This helps out a lot for early level training especially when you're trying to max out Improve Max HP Increase first.
    • Arwen's Glass Shoe can be exchanged for 16,000 XP at level 25 or higher. Collect these from Fire Boars and Nospeed if you're planning on creating a Dark Knight and already have a main.
    • A great way to start out making some quick mesos without much effort, use the daily NX you obtain every day from voting and exchange those for Teleport Rocks or AP Resets and sell them.

Great guide, thank you. I wish this had been out when I first started my character. Two things I noticed:

" Earring for Dex 705 " under the himes training part. Just a typo, I assume it is supposed to be 70%
Under the gearing part, you can't click the link that says "click here for guide to zak helm/horntail necklace" since it's an image. Obviously made an image to fit into your formatting style, but I still felt like the blue link was taunting me. :)

Again, thanks. I've still got plenty of levels to grind out and will be using this.

Woops. I'll go ahead and change that when I get home

As for the blue link, I realized that you can code in a big image and a URL link on a table code. I might have been asking for too much for that to happen, but it was worth a shot and I never got to fixing it.

Also, rip mobile users. Tables take up way too much space.

"The first SP should go to Rush because it'll help you a lot while training. The other two should go to Beholder. Luckily, both skills are default Dark Knight skills so no quests or mastery books required."

^ You wrote this but right down you wrote that Rush does require a quest. So, does it require quest or it doesn't?

Very good guide :) Thanks ~

    Is this for real? O.O
If so, I hope they release optional sp resets for 4th job, since this change isn't really something that was to be expected.

It is a potential change from v.72/v.86 so it just might be real. As for providing Fourth Job SP Resets, it's not like they don't already exist. If you're expecting the change, just save up NX until the new source does arrive or when it is confirmed that this will be a change.

O4 has very good drops for mesos. Overall Armour Dex 60%s drop which is easy 3m each. Also Dark Nisrocks drop at 5m for a 100atk and upwards of 150mil for a 105atk.

i mean if u wna be bad, then sure
One weapon doesn't make up for a bunch of other slowpokes. Great weapon to use, but spears are just as good.
I've tried everything to alleviate that, but there's nothing I can do on my side to fix that. Perhaps try changing browsers will do the trick.
Thanks, Lomo. I know people can go bananas and mangos for Dark Nisrocks.

GG you beat me and @danman to it, guess I'll throw out the 3,000 words I have so far.
