Defame Highscore List?

So, what you're implying by this is that people who have a positive fame are 100% not pricks.

Everyone else gets praise for working their way up the fame ladder. That's why they have a high score list. Notice how there isn't any sort of flack being given to those who choose to raise their fame. If someone is truly irritating or breaking the rules, a GM should be contacted. A defame will not do anything.

I really don't see the problem with my idea. Honestly. Like you said above, having "unremarkable fame numbers stand out just because there's a minus (-) in front of it" isn't something to praise, while unremarkable fame numbers without a minus are celebrated on a top 100 list.

Do you see my issue with that?

I'd also like to point out this isn't a grab for attention. This is a grab for equality.

 

I don't buy or sell fame. I just trade fame once a day with different players. Funny thing though is that a player with like -100 defames would be more fun to play with than a person with -1 or -2 defames. because those people probably don't care about fames and were defamed because they did something negative to a player. These are just my thoughts.

 

Going over this thread again, I have some more questions. As I'd like to keep my posts to a minimum here, I'll place them all in one post.

So, by saying this, you're implying that there is a reason to encourage high levels of fame? What is that reason? Why can't that reason be applied to high defame levels?

And rightfully so. Why can't we be different? MapleRoyals is an extremely diverse server, with many walks of life playing from all reaches of the globe.

Why not make yet another ranking list for defames, though? You've already done it for fame, and beginners, even. Another list wouldn't hurt too much, right?

Not necessarily. Fame is something you can accumulate. Same with defames. I agree with the fact that having a high score list for Omok Tables would be silly and pointless. However, fames/defames aren't pointless. People like collecting them.

Boom. That's exactly my point, right there. It's just a number. Going for defames is fine. Going for fames is fine. However, only people with high fame get a high score list. Those with high defame are criticized for "doing the wrong thing".

I'm not quite sure how much clearer/informative I can be with this, to be honest.

There wasn't one on gms for the same reasons. If you want to be a special snowflake and go against the system, you don't get to place on a meaningless list. Make your decision, it's not hard.

This is not GMS. This is MapleRoyals. The rules may or may not be slightly different here.

 

I was referring to real life (especially online), where you have a lot of people complaining that they're disadvantaged in some way and want the world to stop and acknowledge that they are in essence, some form of attention seeker. See tumblr.com for many hilarious but sad examples.

 

I'm not demanding this be placed into effect, nor do I deem myself disadvantaged. It's simply a question.

 

I don't really see the need for there to be an official defames highscore list, but as I said earlier, do feel free to create: "[Unofficial] Maple Royals Defames Highscore List" here on the forum and get people to post screenies of their defame highscores. We've got a "Latest Failure" thread, so I can't see why an unofficial defames ranking would be a problem.

 

This sounds like a good idea (for now); how about I make one for all you special people that prefer defame over fame?

 

I used to have like 15x omok tables

dumped them all one by one when some nubs thought i was dropping good stuff xD
