It's really funny to me that few people think I need to use this kind of shitty scam for little Meso, but I don't blame them. Few people are concerned about me scamming people from ticket sales. I'll do it for free then. Sure, Why not. People who already paid for week 1 & week 2 tickets will get a full refund. I'll try to find everyone who participated. Please also contact me in-game whenever you have a chance. The list is in the sheet, so it's pretty easy to track down. Everything is on the sheet, the result also will generate randomly in the live stream. The rules just updated in the post.
He has smega'd the contest ingame and in the official forum which would make this covered by ToS. If he were not to pay out he would get banned by ToS for scamming. I don't see the need for a staff member to back this.
Just commenting to say thanks for giving some spice to the community with all the events you do Dick.
Here's the thing. MapleRoyals has been a server that has been around for an extremely long time. During this time, no player has ever hosted a RNG gambling / lottery game (as far as I'm aware). I was around when scamming wasn't a bannable offense and even when it was, you weren't guaranteed to get your item/mesos back. While the buy in amount is negligible for most players, it sets a precedent for anyone who wants to try hosting these sort of events for malicious purposes. It's not a risk that's covered anywhere in the ToS and I've known the staff members to say that player x player interactions / exchanges are not refundable. Considering everyone liked Sen's comment (including members of the staff), I'm willing to bet that we're all just waiting for someone to try the same thing in the future to see how everyone will react. My earlier message was intended to act as a warning to players that there are additional risks that are not being considered when you play. I didn't bring it up to just be like "Hey, scammer alert!" You can't tell me that you wouldn't feel more confident if staff members guaranteed the event was fair. It's ignorant to believe that the staff would waste their valuable time to investigate each transaction and conversation to make sure that the people who participate are actually being treated equally. Even if the person were to be banned, it'd only be for two weeks if staff does not feel it warrants a perm ban. Lying is not a bannable offense. @ASOBOU - I mentioned earlier that it doesn't violate the scamming rule defined by the ToS. Even if he's in the community blacklist, the forum consists of a minority of the playerbase so it wouldn't really affect him (assuming he doesn't get banned). @DickDann - I'm not accusing you of anything or trying to ruin the fun. Good on you for hosting a community event. This is the kind of event I would've done many years ago for the server. I'm just asking you to consider what would happen if it were someone else who tried to do the same thing, but actually had malicious intentions. Host a big event, collect the mesos, and disappear on a different account or character. It's not uncommon or difficult to pull off.
Make a 100bil jackpot, 500mil/ticket, now this will be exciting. Rolls will start when we have 200 tickets purchased.
week 1 was 297/1000 = 29.7% chance of someone winning week 2 has much harder requirements for entering + increasing the range to 9999 the chances of winning will likely be < 297/10000 = 2.97% chance of someone winning even if you want to do it just for fun, you'll likely need to host another ~33 jackpots until someone actually wins one
Week 2 dickpot event (4 days left) That's true. The chance of a win rate might be too low and the donor tag requirement might not get too many participants. Hence, to make it more interesting, the rules are adjusted again for a better win rate now. It will have a 49% win rate for the Week 2 event. (prize will increase and the win rate will decrease until someone win)
Congrats 34 @pamster won the Week 2 Jackpot Event 1B Prize. Please reply here with your IGN. Thanks to all the participants. Spoiler
