Not sure if it's possible to have another server dedicated to iron man characters... (eg. Bera - Iron Man), but I'm just wondering: If this was possible, along with a server transfer, would anybody else like to see a more official iron man mode? (Is this possible???) Reason being: Any real achievements made later on - high levels, godly equips, etc - will be downplayed as there really isn't any way to prove the legitimacy of any achievement. By contrast, Islanding, an example of an unofficial mode, has built-in authentication by nature of being separate from Victoria Island, and so any achievements made there can be claimed as legitimate. The presence of Ironman characters playing alongside normal characters without an actual limitation for trade/exp/party/drops really makes the mode very 'honor'-systemic, which is worrisome considering the reality of most 'honor'-based systems/communities. More of a worry for the overall health of this mode than a personal bother, I'm super excited to join you all! Please add to list: (and guild pls) Cindir - Fighter (+) ____________________________________________________________ After long consideration between classes, I've decided to make an Iron Hero. Progress Log: LV 1-10: Completed all maple island quests and became a 'Swordman' without overleveling from Olaf! LV 11-15: Completed Dance's with Balrogs beginning warrior questline for pots and experience using the map right of Perion for Stumps and the map left of Perion for dark stumps. LV 16-19: Trained at The Tree that Grew II. This might be the best map for levels 10-21 because of how Royal spawn rates work. Sometimes, when you first enter the map everything will spawn for the first time on the very bottom (I'm talking about 60-70 slime/stumps in one lump) which is especially good for those with AoE. This happens 100% on all channels after server resets. It's a good bet to CC until you get those free mobs out of the way before you stick to one map and do an intuitive up and down mob clearing cycle. Total time: ~1hr 15 minutes
Hi I would like to give it a go pls. My new Beginner's name is Tasuki. Pls add me Got a couple of questions I'd like to query about too. Thanks!
Yes I can add this as another optional rule. Welcome to the challenge! About your thoughts, I'm not sure if creating an Ironman specific world would work. If it would I can imagine that it will demand a lot more of the server since you practically double everything with a new world. It would be really cool if that were to happen but I can imagine that it won't happen in the near future considering the huge amount of changes that are about to take place with the new source and all. I do not see a problem with the "honor-system" since there is no official rankings. This is no competition, it's an individual challenge and if you were to cheat the only one you're truly cheating is yourself. However, if someone would get caught cheating the consequences will obviously be "deironing" that character (removed from the list) and expelled from the guild.
Progress #9 I lied I stayed at FoG until level 80.. I simply could not resist. So after spending 30 levels in this place I accumulated a lot of nice loot. Take a loot at my Soul Rohen collection for example... I also ended up with a total of 28 gfa 60% ^^ Now I will move on to other places finally. Started to train at WS which is very fast exp! More to come!
I don't see being an Iron Man as a contest. I would bet that most of us don't, it's a personal challenge. I honestly wouldn't expect someone who cheats to stick around anyway. I'm not comparing myself to other Iron Men (other than playful ribbing at them leveling faster than me XD) because as Iron Men we have to understand that it's the journey which is important, not the destination.
I really like this quote; on my other characters I often refer to friendly competition with others as my main source of motivation to keep playing, especially at higher levels, but on my Ironman character, the challenge and resulting satisfaction comes from the increased difficulty and independence in sustaining this character, and that is sufficient drive for me.
Update #2 Sooo instead of grinding at hhg2 til 30, I decided to have a shootout with some wild boars in the wild west. I am 100% confident in my abilities... for the most part. (R.I.P Omok set T.T) Spoiler: GG After job advancing and leveling 5 more times at wild boars, I finally grasped the art of aiming down the sights. I decided to test my new found abilities and massacred a bunch of fools (ghost stumps) for their ancestral heirloom (maple gun) After 2 lvls I gave up and decided to terrorize the wild boars once again until I reach lvl 43. Now that I have my trusty monocle and mustache, I believe my skills in aiming down the sights has increased tenfold. (I am so done with 1 or 2 dmg shots T.T) Spoiler: Det monocle n mustache yo
