Im looking to start an ironman NL here in the new future. From what I have been reading, this class is quite difficult to play as an ironman. I will not be going dexless (but as low dex as possible). Andwant to add the challenge of not using gacha. I was wondering what others’ experiences have been as an ironman NL? Happy Mapling!
Currently playing as ironman NL. I recommend going dexless since it's very difficult to get an RC that's actually worth the dex you must add to wear it. Also, overall scrolls are much more available than top/bottom scrolls, especially with no gacha. Here are a few tips I can provide: -for your starting weapon, get a 100% scrolled steel titans which you can wear with a dex scrolled bathrobe. it's only slightly stronger than garnier, but significantly faster. -most of your time will be spent obsessing over crystal ore drops. You will need 2 of each crystal to finish the Book of Ancient questline, which is the only way you'll be able to get Summoning Rocks for your Shadow Partner. -for throwing stars, I recommend starting with Paper Fighter Planes or Oranges from the armor seller in Ninja Castle. Relatively cheap recharge and you can keep a few sets for random errands where you have to kill things that get oneshot anyway. You will eventually get plenty of steelies from MP3. Hwabis are your best star but only come from random stuff like area bosses/chao tusk exchange, good luck. -Drain is very good. Endure is only useful in Horntail/VL/auf so you don't need to add points to that. Hitting something with Drain gives about the same healing as a Barbarian Elixir more or less. In fact, I prioritize Drain over max Dark Sight. -your only counterplay to dense crowds of enemies is either to web + FJ away, or just FJ away pretty much. FJ gives a little bit of height which, when timed correctly, is enough for your avenger to give a haircut to things like mixed golems, memory guardians, etc. Prioritize both FJ and avenger over shadow partner since Book of Ancient will probably take a while.
Thank you for all of the info! Dexless is the way I'll go. This is the only thing I am confused about. Does this quest give you Summoning Rocks as a reward?
The quest reward is that Alcaster will now sell you All Cure Potions, Magic Rocks, and Summoning Rocks. This is the only way for an ironman to buy these items.
LronHeart a future Hero/Pally? has realized that it's probably a great idea to pretend to be an Islander for this event if he wants to avoid a trip to Ludi for a while as he starts his quest as a JumpQuest Mule to be logged into every 6 hours, especially since there's some great half-priced items in there. He will pose for cheap romance fantasy romance novels in the interim while he decides the best hat and sword to waste his RP on.
