Hello MapleRoyals ! Finally! Von Leon has been added to the game in the recent patch 82! First and foremost, a disclaimer: This is currently a work in progress, and I will keep things updated as much as I can! There will be many balance patches, reworks, but I'll do my best to update this guide as soon as possible Click here for Becca's Von Leon's Prequest Guide Von Leon. Von Leon is a formidable boss that has undergone several adjustments from its release, and is likely to receive more in the future. With 5 billion HP and deadly attacks, in comparison, Horntail has only 2.7 billion HP. Additionally, there is a time limit of 1 hour to defeat Von Leon, making it a true end-game content. Here some details to keep in mind: HP: 5Billion Phase : 3 Weaknesses: Holy, lightning, & poison. Recommended HP: Players should aim for at least 17.5k HP to survive Von Leon's attacks. Touch damage: No touch damage from Von Leon. Accuracy: Lvl200 Players need at least 258 accuracy to effectively hit Von Leon, although lower-level players may need more. Spoiler: Party Setup To form a party for Von Leon, certain classes should be given priority due to their importance in the boss fight. These classes are: Heroes/Drks and Shadowers: These classes are responsible for clearing the main spawns and are the primary DPS checks in the party. Bishops and Buccaneers: These classes provide crucial support, including healing, reviving dead players, and buffing Holy Shield, Time Leap, and SI for Heroes and Drks. Other classes: Other classes can be considered as flex slots in the party composition, and the example given is just a suggested setup based on personal opinion. There are many ways to optimize the party composition for better results. Here's an example of a 24-man party composition: 6 Shadowers in Party 1 3 Heroes/Drks, 1 Bucc, 1 Bishop, and 1 SE in Party 2 3 Heroes/Drks, 2 Buccs, and 1 Bishop in Party 3 4 NLs, 1 SE, and 1 Bishop in Party 4 In this setup, Party Leaders should be designated for each party, and communication through Discord or another platform is highly recommended. For example, Bishops and Buccaneers will be required to communicate well for reviving dead players and providing crucial buffs such as holy shield. The DPS parties should be composed of the recommended classes for maximum efficiency. Other classes can be considered as flex slots in the party composition, and the example given is just a suggested setup based on personal opinion. There are many ways to optimize the party composition for better results, but having a well-balanced team can make all the difference in defeating Von Leon. - Von Leon is generally a simple boss, with its main mechanic being the falling golems that deal 199,999 damage and can one-shot you. Other than that, it's mostly about dodging his skills, such as the ones that can stun you, reverse your controls (Crazy Skull), or slow you down When entering audience room, you will see Von Leon. When you speak to Von Leon, a one-hour timer will start ticking down immediately! Make sure everyone is ready because if there's any break in between, it can be fatal! ----------------------------------- Von Leon Body 1 This is the easiest yet most crucial part of the three phases. If you're thinking of using Gelts/Naricain's Demon Elixir, use it here! Von Leon isn't just about its mechanics; the boss also has some DPS checks that come with it. Burst through the first 50% as fast as you can. Spoiler: B1 Skills Falling Golems Seriously, if there's anything u need to read, its this Falling Golems skill. It took me a while to master Von Leon's mechanics too! It's crucial to avoid getting hit by his signature move, the falling golems. This falling golem skill is present in all three bodies, and if someone in your team dies, you'll struggle with DPS checks. Here's how it works: after a green clenching animation, ankhs are thrown randomly around the map. Two seconds later, golems will drop on the ankhs, instantly killing anyone caught underneath. This attack is highly accurate, and it ignores all other mechanics and buffs. It's essential to master dodging this skill to have a comfortable run. Shadow Shifter and Guardian skills can help you avoid the attack, but don't rely solely on them. Check out this video to see what not to do during your run. Remember, practice makes perfect! I believe this is how it should be done. Additional notes. It is useful to note that the smokescreen skill casted by shadowers can provide a safe zone for the party during Von Leon's signature move, but it is typically only used in shadower parties. While Flash Jump and Recoil Shot can be used to dodge the golems, they are risky moves that require good timing and may not be recommended for everyone. The use of iframes by buccaneers and shadowers can be dangerous if not timed correctly, so it is important to practice and master the timing before attempting to use them during Von Leon's falling golem skill. When using long buffing skills like shadow partner, it is important to be aware that they can lock you into an animation and make you vulnerable to Von Leon's attacks. To avoid this, it is recommended to time the buff so that it is cast immediately after Von Leon drops the ankhs. Lightning Lightning is the second skill that Von Leon casts to create confusion that will cause players to be affected by the "Crazy Skull Debuff" or the Reverse debuff for 10 seconds, which makes players move in the opposite direction and makes dodging falling golems tricky. Unfortunately, you will not be able to ACP/Dispel out of this debuff. However, countering this debuff is quite simple: Turn on your brain. Some additional notes to keep in mind: To avoid getting hit by falling golems when affected by the Crazy Skull debuff, it's important to be aware of the debuff's duration which lasts for 10 seconds. Sometimes the debuff may end suddenly and players might unintentionally walk into the path of falling golems, resulting in death. So it's important to stay alert and aware of the debuff's duration to avoid any mishaps. If lightning hits you and says "Miss", you will not be debuffed. Vulture Von Leon has a skill where he shouts and summons a vulture that dashes forward and stuns players. To avoid this, players can simply duck by pressing down, or up if you are debuffed with crazy skull. which not only dodges the stun but also increases your overall DPS. While this skill can be threatening as it lowers the team's DPS, it is not a difficult mechanic to deal with, and players shouldn't worry too much about it. There have been few complaints or deaths related to this combo, so please becareful as well. This stun lasts for 1 second. Scratch Von Leon's scratch skill can deal up to 16-17k damage and causes the Slow debuff, which cannot be removed by all cure potions. Only dispel and a casted holy shield can counter it. However, this mechanic is very manageable and shouldn't be a major threat to players. For unwashed players on the other hand, make sure HB is up, or run away as soon as you can. Teleport Von Leon will randomly teleport around the map, causing players to have to reposition themselves to continue attacking him. This mechanic is fairly simple to manage, but players should be aware that golems may drop while repositioning. It's important to keep an eye out for any incoming golems and dodge them accordingly while chasing after Von Leon. Overall, this mechanic is more of a minor inconvenience than a serious threat to the party's success. Spawn Demon Gargoyles Spawn: HP: 30,000,000 Weakness: Holy Summon Cooldown: 2 minutes 30 seconds At the 50% mark, Demon Gargoyles will start spawning. They have the following skills: 1-second stun Skill lock Slow Dispel Demon Gargoyle can now use a defense up buff negating 20% damage, this defense buff that increases the defense of not only Gargolyes, Von Leon and the Mini Golem spawns. They can do about 7k damage from their magic attacks and 3k from touch damage. Bishops need to be careful as they may die from the dispel + mob skill combo if they are not washed enough. - Important note In any MMO, it's common sense that players who ignore the spawns will be punished. It's essential to clear these mobs as soon as possible. Once they start gathering, it becomes almost impossible for melee characters to hit Von Leon, making it difficult to deal damage to him. The whole reason why melee characters are recommended is simply due to this summoning mechanic. It's very important to kill the mobs AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I've seen many runs fail due to this mechanic, and if you can efficiently kill the mobs, this will increase your chances of a successful clear by ALOT Additional Notes: Rush/Monster Magnet skills can be used to control the Gargoyles and Mini Golems. Cleaving the boss together with the Gargoyles can be a good strategy. NLs should focus on killing the Gargoyles using skills like Avenger and Triple Throw. Clearing the Gargoyles as soon as possible is key to a successful run. ----------------------------------- Von Leon Body 2 Von Leon's Body 2 includes all of the skills from Body 1, but with three new abilities added: Slash Attack Dispel Spawn Castle Golem Spoiler: B2 Skills Slash Attack It's important to note that the bleed debuff from Von Leon's slash attack can be deadly, especially when combined with the 1/1 damage. Using All-Cure Potions can help remove the poison debuff, It's recommended to have a Bishop in the party to heal and cleanse debuffs. Overall, it's crucial to stay alert and use All Cure Potion immediately after getting hit by Von Leon's slash attack to prevent death. Dispel The dispel lands immediately as he closes his hands. Von Leon's Dispel skill is has a insane wide hitbox that covers most of the map.s It's important to recast your buffs quickly before he performs his next move. However, be cautious not to recast during his idle animation, as it may result in falling golems appearing. Spawn Mini Castle Golems Mini Castle Golem HP : 10,000,000 Weakness : Holy At 50% HP, Von Leon will summon Mini Castle Golems. While they may appear cute and harmless, they are the DPS Check mechanic that can easily kill your run. If not killed quickly and efficiently, Von Leon will heal himself significantly by eating these golems. It's crucial to burst them down as soon as they appear, and it's recommended for everyone to abandon any other tasks, such as killing gargoyles, to focus solely on these golems. One more time, This is the most critical DPS check for the melee party, and failing to kill them quickly will lead to a failed run. Heroes and Dark Knights should prioritize using skills such as Rush or Monster Magnet to gather the golems together and cleave them down. Healing Von Leon eats his baby golems This is his healing animation, yup if he eats nothing, then he won't heal, BUT if he eats alot of mini golems, oh boy. ----------------------------------- Von Leon Body 3 Von Leon's Body 3 includes all of the skills from Body 1 & 2, but with three new abilities added: Laser Damage Reflect Knockback Spoiler: B3 Skills Laser In official servers, this skill is considered to be Von Leon's signature move. However, in Royals, it is even more deadly as it will cause 1/1 HP, Prone Seduce, and Blind. Your only option is to ask for a Bishop's healing. Fortunately, there is a simple way to avoid this skill. Just jump when the laser starts to come at you. Damage Reflect Von Leon's damage reflect skill can deals damage, ranging from 6000 to 8000, which is similar to Auf's clone. If you're a BM, it's crucial to be cautious and avoid using the hurricane skill while it's active. Von Leon will repeatedly use this skill throughout the battle, but it only lasts for a short time. Trust your pet, and just attack through this skill, as long as you are not using hurricane that is. Knockback When Von Leon uses his knockback skill, it can throw players quite far away from him, lowering the team's overall DPS. It's important to be careful when repositioning during the fight, as the falling golem mechanic is still active and can catch players off guard. ----------------------------------- Classes & Party leader's Job. Spoiler: Classes & Party leader's Job. Party Leaders Party leaders should have the /partyinvite command ready in the chat box. For example, they can use the command: /partyinvite player1 player2 player3 player4 player5 to send invites to all players who are not already in the party. This makes it easier for the leader to invite players who are away from the party. Bishops Bishops will be entering and leaving the party consistently to revive dead players. Communication through Discord would be highly beneficial. The process is as follows: when a group of players die together, a dead player should take initiative and invite other nearby dead players to form a party & request for a bishop to revive them. After the bishop uses resurrection, the bishop will inform the other bishops that their resurrections are on cooldown. The other bishops will also repeat the above until all resurrections are on cooldown, and then request for a Buccaneer to time leap them. "All bishops and Bucc#1 can you head over the left corner of the room for TL? Thanks!" Bishop who are not ressing should be inside their main parties, whenever mob spawns, they stun and its extremely annoying, and causes lots of room for mistakes. Holy shield immediately when VL summon gargoyles. ----------------------------------- Drops Spoiler: Drops This game.. Von Leon's Belt (2 stat average, 8 stat godly) Very similar to krex ring. You’d want to loot a godly one, but is it required? No because by using a Von Leon Soul on one of them, it will allow you to have 2wa and 8 magic, and stats suddenly becomes alittle insignificant huh! Heres the belt i've gotten. The clean belt with Von Leon Soul attached 2/2/2/2, 2wa, will be similar to 16 main stats equivalent for NL, so if you do not need additional substats, this belt is definitely the best in slot even when clean! Von Leon's Medallion Requires 500 Purification Totems, 500 million mesos, 1 Von Leon's Medallion for a Von Leon Soul. Very similar to Horntail's egg, only usable on the belt when its clean at its first slot. This will give the Von Leon's Belt a 2wa and 8 magic atk. Spoiler: Medallion Quest Speak to Luden, and he'll redirect you to Alcaster to craft the Von Leon Soul. Von Leon's Parchment Requires 500 Burning Energy, 1 Chaos Scroll, 1 Von Leon's Parchment to get a Von Leon's Chaos Scroll! For end game players who wishes to venture out to build your Von Leon Belt, you will want to collect as many parchments as you can! Do note, parchments are one of a kind item, but the Von Leon Chaos Scroll is stackable! How should should progress with this belt as best in slot? example I'll be looking to buy x1 parchment from my party in the Von Leon run, and immediately complete the belt, and go for another run tomorrow! repeat this every week and eventually you should be able to complete scrolling your godly belt Spoiler: Parchment Quest [*] Crafting Von Leon Soul & using it on the belt These are only the untradables, not all the tradable items have been found and will be added ASAP.
