There's been a lot of scammers lately, and going through the Blacklist thread to update it I'm noticing a ton of people not submitting screenshots. I (and the others before me) only add people who have screenshots posted, or if there's been more than one offence documented properly. So it's time for some Screenshotting 101 classes! FAQs What are the requirements for a screenshot to be accepted? They cannot be edited at all, and they can't be cropped either. Screenshots must be taken from your laptop / pc screen, any phone photos will be ignored. (same rules as submitting ban reports) I didn't submit a screenshot, can they still be held accountable? It depends, if the IGN is a repeat offender and somebody already documented proof, then I'll add it in to the list. But if it's a new IGN and they don't have any proof, then unfortunately I'll have to put it aside. They cancelled the trade before I could screenshot, what do I do? Grab whatever you can. Screenshot whispers, chats, party chat, anything that shows the person you are reporting. Even if you didn't manage to grab any evidence, or it happened all too quickly, still report their IGN to the Community Blacklist. Somebody may have proof of them being scammed by them too. Is there a way to make the chat window bigger in Royals? YES! Click on the top of the chat window and drag it all the way up. Don't forget to screenshot it! Is there something that can be done if somebody repeatedly scams? Yes and no. The problem with this is that there's not a whole lot of people documenting these incidents, so there's nothing that can be done from a GM's perspective. However, if more people start submitting screenshots, repeat offenders SHOULD be getting banned under this rule: Objectionable Behavior (Disruption) - The act of engaging in any sort of action that is deemed to be excessively disruptive to the individuals around you, including spamming or flooding chat or skills. Punishment: First offense - 3 day ban, Second offense, 7 day ban, Third offense - Permanent ban. (I don't have a mac myself, but a had a couple of people recommend this App to me for this thread!) Command + Shift + 3 to screenshot your entire screen Recording your screen: OBS is a really good tool to record your screen! Windows key + G to open up a recording menu for Windows 10 Tips: Always make sure you are documenting the chat logs between you and your seller. Take a quick screenshot of you trading them the mesos. Make sure you DON'T CROP YOUR SCREENSHOTS or else they cannot be used. For Windows, there's a really nice screenshot tool named Lightshot. Just hit PrintScreen and select what you want to capture. You can even edit on the spot before choosing to copy the image to be pasted later or save it as a file. Way better and faster than Snipping Tool.
For Windows 10 - if use Windows + Print Screen, will autosave the screenshots in a folder under pictures Although it will be full screen, will be a fast way to grab multiple screenshots if need to For me personally, when I use Alt + Print Screen, my DropBox will autosave all the screenshots taken
Scamming has always been under: Objectionable Behavior (Disruption). Since as a scammer you're disrupting someone's game play by not completing the agreement you both set out to do and/or you are not trying to solve the issue in another way if its no longer possible. The person that got scammed does have to make a report that includes: - evidence of the mutual agreement that was made - evidence that the agreement wasn't met - evidence that the other party doesn't intend on rectifying the issue Keep in mind scamming is not 'refundable'. Staff didn't take anything from you to 'refund'. Most reports don't have such evidence which makes the report not clear enough or the 'agreement' could be interpreted different or is vaguely (some times even not at all) described.
I think the main issue would be the lack of evidence - since most players won't really bother taking screenshots for evidence Too many players expect Admins to dig chatlogs to check who's right, who's wrong
