Hello friends, mortal enemies, and all those in between! As you may have noticed, I have officially stepped down from my role as a Forum Moderator. All in all, it has truly been an absolute joy to be a part of this experience. However, I believe the time has come for me to step back and step away. As per the title, you may literally ask me anything--from my role in this server to whatever else you might be curious about. Don’t be weird though. It has always been a core priority of mine to improve transparency between the community and Staff, so this feels like a great way to end my journey. I also invite you to share any thoughts you might have, and I will try to engage in an open conversation. I will also make a genuine effort to respond with full honesty to every serious question, no matter how difficult they may be. That being said, please respect some common sense ground rules. Don’t ask questions that would involve leaking confidential information or doxing any member of the community. Don’t ask questions that are obviously meant to incite drama. You better not be coming in here with any flame-baiting buffoonery. If you end up getting my thread locked, I will literally find you and beat the shit out of you. You think I won’t? ...Nope! Karven actually consistently updates us with the progress of the autoban--particularly because GMs actually actively assist with this process by providing a lot of nuanced data and information given the direct role they play in banning hackers. But my eyes glaze over whenever I read anything that's remotely technical, so I really don't know (and truthfully don't care to know lol) where we are in that progress. I think one thing that may be helpful to know is that players tend to have a misconception that the autoban is a zero-sum game in which it either exists or it doesn't. But it's much more granular in the way it functions. I believe Matt and Karven have both mentioned that while the autoban is incomplete, it actually is currently doing its job in the limited ways that it can. So I will say that the machinery as a whole does in fact play an active role in minimizing the number of hackers that are plaguing the server, and is a constant work-in-progress. What the server actually needs right now are more GMs to assist the autoban, so if there are players out there who are particularly passionate about catching hackers I encourage you to apply!
