Im at the point where I don't need anymore 4th job skills and have questions about pickpocket, does the royals droprate make it do more damage with bomb? I'm thinking it might not be amazing but since I can kill bf easy without bombing why not play with pickpocket (I have zero points in it). Any highlevels use it anywhere?
Was also thinking it might be good using savage blow with pickpocket on bodyguard b for the same iframe reasons, and that way I can spam bomb on them without using/losing my own money, I get no exp from bodyguard b anyway because of the iframes null 70% of my attacks

hey man sorry for the late reply.

pickpocket is absolutely useless in royals. it got "buffed" when the new source arrived, but remains being a waste of 20 SP at 3rd job.

In my humble opinion, we're better off maxing Chakra instead of it for Dojo survivability. also, it comes in very handy in situations where you run out of pots, or even panic out. (it saved my ass many times when using bstep>savage blow>chakra combo at zakum during my early shadower stages)

I maxed pickpocket too back then, in hopes of any improvement of the skill to arrive someday, but it's still garbage besides making you "the cool guy" that leaves a trail of coins everywhere you go.

I'd strongly suggest to hunt and keep hunting both BFs and HH. you can also solo bomb zakum arms for quick chunks of exp, and try to solo bomb both krexel and papulatus whenever you can.

besides those bosses and mini bosses, I'd suggest grinding at himes with a priest (they luring the mobs, and you bombing them at the corner), making your way at temple of time's questline, NLC's wolf spider parties, and even windraiders at lower ascent.

Thanks Javier, thought I'd add my two cents since I finally became a Shadower today!

As a non-hp-washed, non-funded, and mostly solo player I found the most consistent ways to gain experience were:
70-80: solo-ing himes with meso explosion (did these levels in 2 days, ME is truly amazing)
80-90: himes, Headless Horseman, and wolf spiders (level 19+ Band of Thieves recommended)
90-100: all of the above + ulu1 & ulu2, better with a partner (maxed BoT)
100-110: ulu1 & ulu2, Temple of Time prequests up to the second portal
110-120: ToT (memory lane 5) + himes (used BoT as it was much faster than using ME), this part took the longest as I was only getting about 1% per minute, but it was the fastest I could do consistently (Bigfoot could ohko me and it was a pain trying to track one down)

    Important Notes:
    - I often got burnt out training so I referenced this quest guide to mix things up: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/quests-worth-doing.106856/
    - I found I needed some extra motivation to keep going, so even if the exp wasn't optimal I ended up completing the Quest Specialist medal by level 115-ish
    - I did try leeching for two-three levels in the 110-120 range, but quickly realized I'd be broke if I continued leveling this way
    - Bigfoot would have been the fastest way to level solo, but as I mentioned before as an non-hp-washed character it was way too stressful and also time consuming to track one down repeatedly. However, now that I have over 5.5k hp it will be much less risky & worthwhile
    - Pickpocket and shield mastery were useless to me (level 9 and 1, respectively)
    - Chakra was fun for a level or two but it quickly became a headache dealing with the auto-hp settings and there were very few areas where I could actually use it...looking forward to using it in dojo tho (maxed)

All in all it was a long but worthwhile journey, I'm already loving the new shadower skills. Cheers, hope this helps some of you on your path to Shadower!

I realized I never shared the shadower secrets I learned in this thread, so here are a few.

Smokescreen can be used to get past some really tough areas on jump quests (Zakum Jump quest for example) if needed.

Dojo is great for getting a chance to use all of those odd shadower skills. I've started using pickpocket savage blow on leviathan to get my bamboo ready before Pap. The rate at which you charge is based on the number of attacks that have hit. Using savage blow is already really nice for that because of it's number of attacks per second, but when he summons things you can use meso explosion on the pickpocketed coins that are flying out to get an additional 30-40 hits in super fast. The only downside is you may cover up some potions with coins if your party has a tough time surviving him. Chakra is of course super useful as well

Another great combo for getting hard to find quest items is Taunt + Steal. I used this on the protecting Marr PQ for Neo Tokyo which works amazingly since the mobs in that quest only drop one item, so steal is guaranteed to eventually make them drop it, but have started using it in some other quests as well. Great for those going for the quest medal. (GL getting taunt though, its a pain and a half).

Shadowers are the only class that can actually tank crimpsonwood jump quest totems with enough washing thanks to meso guard.

Meso guard causes 1/1 attacks from bosses to only deal half damage.

Has anyone found an effective way to train with taunt? Assuming you max taunt around lv 170-175

I have. I train at Mav's sometimes at Neo Tokyo with taunt and a bishop mule. The extra coin and equip drops are nice too. almost 70k exp per mob.

It's not "bad" per say, it just a lower base attack stat than a gold double knife.
Blood dagger max attack clean = 103
Gold double knife max attack clean = 105
Dragon kanzir max attack clean = 110

I used a 127 att blood dagger for a good chunk of my mid game, nothing wrong with it. BUT gold double knives are easier to come by since skeles drop them (and it's a popular leeching map)

For shao, normally you need 12k hp to survive. With meso guard (reducing dmg by 50%) you need 6k to survive. A good rule of thumb for surviving bosses is to use this thread and divide each value by 2 (as long as they don't dispell you, which shao does not).

    Hey.

I quitted BM since last update. I know I said it was my last char, but I'm too weak and addicted to this server so I made a Shadower. For now he is just level 45, but I have a question about my future training spot.

How many mesos do I need to kill Bigfoot with Meso Explosion ? Depending of that amount, maybe I'd rather buy leech or train by myself at ToT until 135.

    Thanks !

Hey! This particular guide mentions a cost of 7m, but it could vary depending on how good you are, some times even taking 15m when you're first struggling to learn. Honestly, when I was training up my shad, I hated hunting big foot. It's nice to get instant 2 levels here and there, but I mainly focused on hunting Headless Horseman (waaay easier to kill, like 1m to bomb) while HSing myself. In between my HH hunting sessions I would do alternate training methods (Himes, Ellin Quests/PQ, ToT quests, etc.) Hope this helps. If you do decide to bomb big foot, make sure to keep some smegas on you to sell card (gives exp/drop bonus) or the toe, which should help take care of a lot of the cost.
