yes, according to the error code that I consistently get, that one particular dll file keeps getting eaten
If the exception somehow doesn't work as intended, I can only recommend turning off your real-time scanning for now (just to test if Royals is able to run) Turn real-time protection off temporarily https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...security-2ae0363d-0ada-c064-8b56-6a39afb6a963
Does the PC have any other anti-virus installed? Any error messages upon running Royals? Or it's the same error message?
except for one time that I got a generic error saying that i needed to contact the software developer for the correct version and another error code that I don't remember (not sure how to replicate either one), I consistently get "An internal exception occured (Address: 0x634dcd24) Please visit royals.ms/forum and report this issue on the bug reports section. Thank you!" (the address has been different) After clicking ok I get a popup that says "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click ok to close the application." (this one has been consistently the same) I have no other anti virus installed besides windows defender
Have you tried compatibility mode too? For 7 and 10 Hope some Windows 11 users that had this issue before can comment how to resolve it too *don't have 11 myself
I did that and tried running it for every compatibility mode available and it's still giving me the same error message
ok so my laptop is setup basically the same as OP's. I only use Windows Defender, and im running windows 11. I've made no exceptions in windows defender. The only thing I've done to make it not eat Royals is to restore the files that get eaten them from scan by going to Protection History, finding the file or files thats Royals related and restoring them. I think theres an option to exclude from future scans and i selected that. I did this maybe 6 months ago and ive never once had to deal with Windows Defender eating Royals files since. The only thing you have to make extra sure is that when you redownload the client anytime we have patches, to reinstall it to the same directory.
I tried reinstalling it again, got the same error messages, and there are no files in the protection history.
Thank you to those that tried to help me resolve my problem. I have given up on windows and am moving onto Linux. No need to continue with this thread.
Here's some info that may help the royals developers. I have found out that computers with ARM or snapdragon processors will not accept bootable media. They wont allow the user to install another OS. My comp has a snapdragon processor. Perhaps this is why royals would not work.
I think you answered this already, but you aren’t using a Mac running Parallels or something are you? If it’s not a mac, the bootable media has to be formatted during media creation using a tool that supports ARM architecture. I’d have to find one that I used in the past but they’re out there. It shouldn’t be why Royals wasn’t working unless something went wrong with your OS install. I’d still wager that it’s related to anti-virus.
