I'm currently a lvl 85 DK. I have 0 points on Pole Arm Mastery and booster. My spear crusher is maxed, I have 9 points on Dragon Fury Spear, and 6 sp saved up. Should I buy SP resets and max out my Pole Arm mastery and booster so it's easier for me to mob train? Or should I just max out my Dragon Fury Spear. Idk what to do, I'm so conflicted
Pole arms are really good for lower levels, but later on it is never really used when you get to around 100-120 you will probably never use pole arms again. When you grind at a higher level you will just use spear crusher because its more efficient. If you think its worth to pay the amount needed to get resets enough to max pa mastery put a few points into pa booster for a these levels then you should do it, personally i would not do that.
I would need about like 20-40 SP Resets. Should i Just max out Dragon fury Spear then instead of pole arm?
1.maybe u should share what is your current SP? (how many points in what 3rd job skills) 2. u mention u have zero points in pole arm mastery n booster, what did u do with the remaining SP?
Max lvl spear crusher, 23 dragon fury spear, 10 roar, and 6 sp saved for 2nd job, I maxed spear mastery, HB, 18 booster, 30 final attack, and rest in iron body. Im gonna need 40 resets for 2nd job and about 4-5 for 3rd job
I have personally made three lv 140+ dark knights before in different servers as well as in GMS. Here are my thoughts: My very first drk was made in GMS pre pirate/pre BB (got it up to 157) in windia server. It was a pure spear where I maxed spear final attack 2nd job, spear crusher + fury 3rd job, and dump the rest into sacrifice. Then I made a second dark knight in bellocan server when all my gear got scammed by a "friend" who get closed to me and a lot of other people for their gear. I made my second dark knight hybrid max polearm mastery/booster 2nd job first and polearm fury 3rd job first because: Polearm deals a lot higher average damage (both slash blast and power strike) compared to spear before lv 70. Reason is the RNG ratio for swing attack animation to appear is a lot higher than thrust with any weapon using SB and PS. Polearm does more dmg swinging, and receive damage penalty thrusting. Vice versa with spear. Spear crusher is pretty bad early level where it only stab 1 or 2 monsters 1 or 2 times where polearm fury can completely replace slash blast at lv 3 or 4. Polearm fury is also faster and has longer reach than crusher. Id argue polearm fury is much viable training skill compared to spear crusher when you are training at wolf spider, ULU2, or dreamy ghost/hime. I personally grind hime with priest until 13x since back then it was a grinding meta not bossing/leeching meta. Final attack is an optional skill, and it will never be activated again instantly after fury or crusher becomes the main attack skill (FF is good or bad that's another topic at another time). Iron will be useless as soon as you train at monster hit over 500 or 1k, and the hex of beholder will completely replace iron will. So IMO that's a lot of skill points wasted. Even if you prefer spear in 2nd and 3rd job I'd argue to put skill points into polearm mastery and boosters instead of FF and max iron will. Give yourself an option if you ever wanted to try out polearm later. Similar to point #3, you will have too much skill points leftover in 3rd job. After max the core skills spear crusher, roar, ele resist, crash (for ht). You have the option to max at least one other lv 30 skill, and I recommend spear cury for pure spear build or polearm fury for hybrid build. I'd argu keep scarifisa at lv 3 (to unlock roar) not dumping the remaining skill points into it because IMO the only reason to use sacrifice is to HP control. I've see many drk had to use sacrifice around 3 times to get their HP down when they maxed scarifice where they could have use it once if they keep it at lv 3. TLDR and incorporate into the OP's current situation. I'd say to just stick with your current pure spear build since you already reached lv 8x. It won't really hurt you end game, and that's a lot of NX you can use to wash your drk to 18750 hp or sell AP for gear fund instead of changing it to hybrid build. You get the most benefit from hybrid build from lv 10 to 120, but the gap between of polearm over spear diminish as you level pass 100, which youre almost there. However if you ever make another drk I'd highly recommend trying out hybrid using polearm as main weapon from the start.
I heard that Dks still use pole arm after 135ish for ToT and other mobbing maps. In that case pole arm would help me kill much faster. Training with spear takes too long
I've never really heard of any Drk using a pole arm at ToT. I think you'd be way better off just using spear crusher. You usually don't have enough monsters in front of you to make the ability to hit that many enemies worth it. Here's a short video of a high level Dark Knight training at Oblivion 4: It's pretty similar at lower levels but you'd just have to use crusher twice instead of once.
^ Jake sum it up nicely! And I agree with Eli, crusher is the only skill u need for TOT. I have trained at TOT, and comparing both polearm fury n spear crusher, it is still faster with crusher. I would suggest u save the NX for washing.
you may refer to: https://royals.ms/forum/threads/dark-knight-guide.28010/#23 IMO, I would say pole arm only use for wolf spider and dreamy ghost. Once you past that, spear crusher will be for the rest of your journey. also, if you have NX you may want each/sell AP for meso for leeching. Leeching from 85-120 is faster than training, even split leech is fast enough.
Ah ok thanks. I just feel so conflicted right now. A guild mate showed me the damage difference between fury spear and fury pole arm and the difference was almost 2x apart. I would level up way quicker if I was using pole arm
Even if you spend all the nx resetting your 2nd job skills, you still need to gain 10 levels to max polearl fury. I think it's a moot point. Sure polearm fury may level faster than spear cruaher to like 100~120 if you train at dreamy ghost, but once you start training at skele, petri, or ToT crusher might be a more optimal choice. As I said above I think it's more cost effective for you to stick with pure spear and just focus on leveling, hp washing, and upgrade gear.
